Chapter 95: <Chapter 94>
A psychiatric hospital at the outer border of Oslo.
A harsh wind blew and knocked on the windows mercilessly. The sound echoed and the moonlight that shone through the window looked somewhat lonely.
This was a frightening place. This was where the monsters lived.
Kail smiled bitterly.
Shockingly, his face was covered with a protective metal mask. He had been having severe seizures and he had been acting violently. The hospital was given an incredible amount of funds from his father Rolf, so they had no choice but to keep him. But to protect him and the others, they had to restrain him.
Kail leaned back in his hard bed. This wasn’t so bad. It was like a prison, but it couldn’t be helped.
Sometimes, he could even think clearly. It was a rare occurrence as Kail often wasn’t himself. He usually felt mindless and his episodes were often vicious.
Feeling rigid but clear-minded for once, he looked around slowly.
However, the lucidity was brief as he started to pant again.
“…!”
Another seizure. His seizures were believed to be from his drug withdrawal. His face became pale and his body started to tremble. The nurses came running and watched in horror, but thankfully, it didn’t last long.
Shortly after, an unwanted guest showed up.
It was his stepmother who came in while wearing a chinchilla fur coat that was worth over 120,000 euros.
“Hello, Kail.”
Watching him strapped to his hospital bed, Ingrid smiled happily. Her eyes were burning with vengeance.
In addition to her coat, Ingrid also wore a hat with a veil to cover her burnt face.
It was the horrible burn from the fire.
It didn’t take Kail long to figure out what happened to Silje. When he learned the truth, Kail’s payback was immediate. He killed Ingrid’s paramour, the blond chauffeur, and he made sure to leave his mark on her face.
The burn scar could never be fixed.
She hated Kail with her all might, so having him trapped in this hospital only made her smile. She looked down at him smugly.
“I can’t believe this is happening! To see you like this… I’m so happy.”
Kail was still not fully himself and his vision blurry.
With her horrifying, scarred face, Ingrid continued, “You succeeded in making me into this freak, yet you yourself got into this situation just because of a mere girl. All because of that Asian b*tch. I don’t know how to congratulate you. I thought it was only right for me to visit you.”
Her face crumpled into an ugly grin as she continued, “Congratulations on your end, Kail. Just die soon, will you?”
She paused with another smile before adding, “I couldn’t get pregnant with your father no matter how hard we tried. The Bruntland family is known to always have difficulty siring every generation. I suppose if I did have a baby, we would’ve never accepted someone like you. We wouldn’t have had to.”
Ingrid walked towards his bed slowly and looked down at him with a cold expression.
“If Rolf and I had a child… But even if we did, you would’ve gotten rid of me and my child when you inherited the company. I just know it! Just look at my face! You would’ve killed me. I had to live with Rolf for so many years… I will not be left with nothing. Just die, Kail! Get sicker and die in this room! That is what I pray for every night, my dear son.”
Ingrid smiled brightly.
“This place suits you. Go to sleep now.”
Kail’s stepmother walked away and the sound of her high heels echoed through the hospital hallway. Kail was again alone in the dark room.
This place was hell.
Kail couldn’t move for a long time. His body would flinch involuntarily, but that was it. With his hands and feet tied together, Kail looked helpless and pathetic.
He suddenly became breathless again. His face crumpled as he whispered, “Leave me alone.”
This was truly what he wanted. He made a mistake and he lost everything. He lost Silje and their baby, and now, there was no reason for him to live.
Rolf sent his son here after the last party Kail threw at their mansion.
It was another party that ended with blood.
Again.
So Rolf had no choice but to send Kail away.
“Kail.”
Rolf said to his son, “Until you get better, stay in that mental hospital.”
When Kail was in the hospital, Rolf sent him a letter.
– Kail. Your heart is unwell. When I lost Hannah, your mother, I was just like you right now. I know exactly how you feel because I felt it myself when I was young. You can return to yourself only after the sadness leaves your heart. I will wait for you until you get better.
It was father’s loving letter to his son. Despite what Kail did after Silje left, including murder and disfiguring his wife, Rolf still didn’t give up on his son. Rolf also didn’t leave Ingrid, however, and Kail couldn’t accept his father anymore.
– Ingrid did something terrible and you need to know that I was never involved in her scheme. However, I cannot divorce her, Kail. I promised in front of God that I will take her as my wife. My son, I hope you forgive her this once.
But Kail knew better. What Ingrid did was what his father wanted. Ingrid always carried out Rolf’s will.
Kail’s green eyes darkened as he smiled coldly.
‘So you didn’t want an Asian daughter-in-law… Is that it, Father?’
Was this what Rolf really wanted?
Kail started to scream, “Silje!”
It was a chilling scream as if it came from his soul.
“Silje!”
The nurses murmured among themselves, but they weren’t surprised because this was a familiar occurrence. A few times a day, Kail banged against the door and screamed her name over and over again.
“Open it now! Open!”
Kail became breathless and tried to remember her face.
‘I am trying to get to you… To you, Silje.’
After a few minutes, the nurses and the doctors finally rushed in. The doctor, who was in a white gown and silver-framed glasses, looked down at the bloody Kail. He quickly gave Kail some sedatives to calm him down.
When Kail fought back as usual, the doctor yelled, “Grab his arms!”
“Keep him down!”
Kail didn’t want to fall asleep, but he was helpless against so many hands.
“Ah…. Ahhhhh!”
He moaned and tried to crawl away. Slowly but surely, his eyes started to close. Before he lost consciousness, he wrote something on the floor with his own blood.
“Oh my god! Look at what he’s doing!”
“What is he writing?”
The nurses looked at him in shock. Even the doctor looked disturbed as he watched Kail.
It was dark in the room, but the writing in Kail’s blood was surprisingly clear.
I love you, Silje.
