Gu Yang observed silently as Xiao Yize spoke with an unwavering calmness. She could sense, however, that Xiao Yize was quite wary of Ning Shen.

Ning Shen remained unfazed by the comment. He simply smiled and replied, “It seems you are indeed protective of your sister.”

“After all, I have only one sister. Young Master Ning, you also have just one sister, Miss Ning Gui. I trust you can understand what it means to protect a sibling,” Xiao Yize said, making a subtle point about shared experiences.

Xiao Yize glanced at Ning Gui, who instinctively shrank back, clearly uncomfortable under the attention of so many people.

Mrs. Ning’s face paled, and she moved to shield Ning Gui behind her.

Gu Yang sensed the tension between Xiao Yize and Ning Shen—it felt as though they were subtly threatening each other.
