Chapter 68 – Assistant Director
The mysterious female knight was like a mighty hurricane that suddenly appeared and disappeared.
After she left, the set calmed down gradually. If it weren’t for the dozens of pairs of eyes present who witnessed all that transpired, everyone would have thought that they were just dreaming.
“Who is she?”
Fortunately, when Su Jishi was driving, she especially put on a thick coat and the street lamp was not bright enough, so she was able to muddle them of her identity.
If the rest of the crew knew that she was the hero who stepped on the auspicious clouds, it would be a mess.
“Where is Miss Zhou? Shooting is about to begin! Where is she?!” The assistant director shouted as they have already lost too much time. He grabbed one scrawny staff who holds placards and asked him loudly.
The boy scowled miserably. “Miss Zhou hasn’t still get out of her car. Her assistant said that she was traumatized and needed time to rest!”
The assistant director became livid. How dare she make us wait?!
Although she was only an unknown minor artist, her financial backer did not spend less money on her. Thus, the assistant director didn’t dare to offend her so he could only wait with a bitter face.
In a different light, Su Jishi was also too “scared” to get out of her car just now, but she was only pretending. As soon as the commotion ended, Su Jishi showed her shaken form on the set. Zhou Jing, on the other hand, was truly terrified to her core.
The scaredy-cat was too traumatized to work! Everyone thought in pure annoyance. Was she really terribly afraid of gangsters?
At a young age, she entered the entertainment circle too early and lost her innocence because of vanity. In order to become famous, she tried her best to hook up with the second uncle. But as for how many rich men she had slept with before him, she couldn’t remember herself.
At first, when the group of gangsters came up, she thought they were hired people of the second uncle’s wife! She trembled tremendously, thinking that they went here to beat her to death!
Turning ghostly pale with fright, she ran back to her nanny car with a scream. Quickly, she hid behind her assistant and held her tightly. Whenever she heard shouts outside the car, she pinched her assistant until she was blue all over.
Now that the trouble was gone, she was still in a state of panic. She wished to call it a day and go home. They should wait for a few days to start shooting again! Hmph!
If the shooting would be delayed for one day, the money lost would not be a small sum. Even if her second uncle could make up for the money lost, everyone had their separate schedules which they couldn’t afford to not follow.
Therefore, the crew would lose several people along with their timely sponsors!
Not letting this to happen, the assistant director hurriedly took people with the sweetest mouths to her nanny car and finally persuaded Zhou Jing to come out.
Su Jishi watched from a distance while sitting on a lounge chair with her name written on it. She asked Fang with great interest:
“I have always wondered why this assistant director is in charge of everything, but he has never shoot a movie.”
Fang Xie was glad to satisfy her curiosity. “Sister Su, the kind of person you say who is responsible for filming is called the’ executive director’. Normally, the production team is divided into two groups A and B, the executive director is responsible for filming key plots, and the supporting roles and transitional plays while the rest of the concerns behind the camera is handed to the assistant director of team B.”
The title of assistant director sounds good, but the work is not so easy. From choosing group performers, scheduling, checking the lights and sounds, providing manpower to simple communication with actors and actresses, it was all in on his shoulders. In all respects, he is responsible for everything except filming.
If not for the word “director”, some people in the industry would laugh at assistant directors being men who do odd jobs!
Nonetheless, assistant directors are the big stewards of the crew who cares about everything and knows everything well. In some cases, many assistant directors in the entertainment circle have to go through acting before being an executive director. Thus, some actors tend to be directors when their prime in the circle dwindles.
Of course, there are also people who have served as assistant directors for a lifetime, finally failing to become a full-time executive director.
“The cast often lacks group performances. Sometimes they can’t find enough people who could deliver lines neatly. That’s why, on one occasion, this crew’s assistant director directly changed into a new costume and made an appearance—the result was amazing, he created a classic role that the audience will never forget!”
Su Jishi’s head perked up and asked Fang Xie. “What role did he take?” From her manager’s tone, it must have been an incredible and iconic role!
“He acted as flower, a girl I believe! “
“….”
Fang Xie made a gesture of picking his nose with his little finger. “He played the role of a girl who ran towards the camera while habitually picking her nose in the movie of Xing Ye!”
“….”
This was an interesting story. Su Jishi turned her eyes to the assistant director of this crew. He made a tour on the other side of the set, checking on everyone.
No, no, no…From now on, she absolutely couldn’t look at him without laughing.
