Chapter 57 – Master in Her Craft
Although Su Jin had not registered a personal Weibo account, she participated as one of the chief administrators in the fan website run by Coco, a staff that Fang Xie employed.
Living in the era of mass media, Su Jin was such a big target that has countless of people watching her every move. A little trouble she makes, would make her a showbiz headline on the internet in a matter of time.
Therefore, Su Jishi made public the reply which took less than half an hour for her name to rush up to the top of the Weibo hot search and was even linked with numerous famous forum websites.
Her reply was only 12 words long and has been interpreted in more than a dozen different meanings by netizens from all walks of life with unknown identities such as anti-fans, fans, and simple gossipmongers.
Some people agreed with her, saying that she is so beautiful and frank.
Su Jin was just 26 years old. After three years of career, she had developed a perfect image. She had no flaw, so people started criticizing her of her age.
Naturally, many netizens were dissatisfied with her post.
“I think Su Jin’s kindness has gone with the wind. How would she impress people with that nasty attitude?
“The entertainment circle has four florets, look at xx, xx, xxx, why is their career not as striving as Su Jin’s? And here’s Su Jin throwing shade to the people who supported her! Girl, don’t forget who are paying to watch the films you make!”
“I’m the only one who didn’t like Su Jin from the beginning. I think she pretends to be someone she isn’t.. Like she’s trying to be like a man’s favorite white lotus bitch.”
In the hotel suite reserved by the film crew, Su Jishi was reading the online chaos on the computer with relish. Beside her, Fang Xie’s mobile phone kept ringing every minute. After hanging up an interview invitation, a new entertainment record came in to inquire about the situation.
Xiao Xia, with dysmenorrhea, nestled wearily on the sofa, holding a warm water bag in her arms, she mumbled, “I think I’ll take care of it.”
Su Jishi cast a glance at her and asked, “What would you do? How would you deal with it? “
“….Just say that your aunt was delirious with menstruation pain and opened Su Jin’s account to visit the forum …”
What she said was the routine operation in the circle-short for assistant cylinder jacking.
A male star once cursed anti-fans late at night due to intoxication, and the result was somehow shared on Weibo! Although he deleted the post the soonest, it was still captured by someone and caused much publicity. Later, his assistant bravely jumped out of the jar, issued a statement of apology, and took a lot of effort to push things down.
Su Jishi smiled, “I think that’s a good idea.”
Xiao Xia immediately had the energy to work. She was about to get up and get rid of the hot water bag to do what she and Su Jishi had agreed to when suddenly, a cold voice froze her to her place.
“Better make another announcement in the studio, saying that you are the temporary worker I hired and is now fired.”
Fang Xie watched them tease one another and threw down their cell phones, anxious to reject his phone calls directly.
“Sister Su … Su Jishi! I beg you, could you say hello to me before the next time you get angry and lash out online? Don’t wait for me to receive phone calls from the media and become aware of what you have done!”
“Would you allow me to be angry if told you in advance?”
Fang Xie: “…”
When Su Jishi closed the computer screen, she said, “The first one who attacked was not me. Now that I see it, are you insinuating that it’s impossible for me to stand up for myself? For my sister?”
Fang Xie’s head suddenly throbbed with a headache.
“You are a public figure, you are an idol! That’s what entertainment is all about. If you want to be famous and make money, you have to put up with public opinion!”
“But when public opinion is wrong, why should I back down?” Su Jishi has a steelyard in his heart, one supporting self-esteem and self-confidence, the other supporting her hard work. “I really don’t understand the entertainment circle, but I think you are in this mountain, but I don’t see it clearly as an outsider. Has no one ever felt that whether the audience or the practitioners have a completely deformed way of examining the age of female artists?”
“I will turn 28 years old this year. Three years ago, I was 25 years old and enrolled in the first year of college. Almost all my classmates were older than me. Many people even wanted to continue their studies and enrich themselves even after several years of work.”
The atmosphere suddenly turned solemn as Su Jishi winded up her long speech.
“—I saw a single mother in her 30’s who was studying while taking care of her children. Every time she worked day and night in the research office, she had to put her children in foster care with relatives. No one asked her,’ Why don’t you go home to your husband and son now that you are in your 30’s? Our professor’s assistant is 45 years old and black. He didn’t get rid of illiteracy until he was 28 years old. He began to learn English at the age of 32. Now he can stand in the top geological research station in the United States as an assistant. No one has ever said that he is too old to study anymore.”
“—But in the entertainment circle? A female star in her mid-twenties is sentenced to “death” in the eyes of the audience. Even my sister changed her age for her debut!”
Before her debut, Su Jin agreed to have her age changed by a difference of two years to avoid critics. Instead of being 28 years old, her age in online sites was only 26.
Su Jishi spoke firmly. “I know I’m right about this. I can’t possibly be wrong. Of course, I admit that my reply did cause a lot of unexpected trouble to the studio, and I apologize to you for that. But I still hope that in this matter, my manager and my team could stand beside me.
Her eloquence was excellent, and she clearly did not use any offensive language, her remarks were solid, all the points were delivered with precision.
Just like what she usually did in delivering her thesis. Su Jishi was a master in her craft after all.
Fang Xie clearly wanted to criticize her reckless behavior, but was overwhelmed by her language.
The poor manager swallowed a mouthful of water and fought for the last time “Sister Su, even if we stand by your side, but people are keen enough and are lining up to make a big fuss about you.”
“Fang Xie, you must remember.” Su Jishi said softly, “All living things on earth depend on the sun to survive—but the sun does not exist for them.”
Fang Xie : “….”
