Chapter 33 – Sun Village
Su Jishi didn’t find out until the next day that her hammer had landed on Mu Xiulun’s car.
She hid it in her garter all night and must have dropped it when she tightened her shoelaces.
When she got up, it must have fell down her skirt and landed on the passenger seat. In the spur of the moment, she didn’t notice it slipping from its confines!
She thought Mu Xiulun would ask something, but after waiting all day, the former financial backer did not send her any message.
Didn’t he see it?
Probably yes, she thought. The space around the seat was after all so wide that maybe the hammer just tumbled underneath it and dodged his bullet eyes!
Su Jishi felt a little shame. The geological hammer had been with her for many years. Bumps and scratches marred the the it’s body. The handle was no better either. She wrapped layers of duct tape around it to keep it from breaking apart…
It looked like trash — but it was one of her precious treasures!
She took a hammer to defend herself last night, but she didn’t think Mu Xiulun would be harmless and unexpectedly accommodating.
Before her precious hammer could come out of its case, she found herself in a very interesting position.
Ah, forget it, forget it! There’s no use thinking about it!
She remembered that when she was “dating” last night, she felt very curious about the strange place name “Sun Village” mentioned by the hotel personnel.
She turned on the search engine, entered the words Sun Village, and then pressed the Enter key. Instantly, numerous search results appeared on the computer screen.
“Sun Village, a welfare organization connected to an international NGO, aims to provide necessary assistance to homeless children whose parents are imprisoned, and to ensure their right to accommodation, medical care and equal education.”
Su Jishi whispered this line of words on the web page.
It turned out that Sun Village was a children’s aid station. After some convicts are imprisoned, their children are left without a guardian. For some reason, these children are not acceptable to go to orphanages and had no relatives willing to accept them.
If they were left unattended, they would be left rotting on the streets. Eventually, they would either freeze to death, die of starvation, or be tricked and manipulated by other criminal groups, thus becoming social hidden dangers.
Opening the official website, the children’s photos were hung on the front page. Here, they can eat to their heart’s delight and wear warm clothes, have clean and bright dormitories, have a wide playground, and most of all, get primary education every child needed.
They are different in age, but have the same bright smiles.
Su Jishi had turned over several related reports and found that some enterprises and individuals who are eager about public welfare makes regular donations to Sun Village.
However, digging a little further, she still did not see the name of EP Mining Group, but instead saw an eager person named “Mu” whose donation ranked first on the list, even higher than most of the enterprises.
If a person makes public welfare in the name of an enterprise, he or she gets corresponding tax donation from the state and attract more investors, so enterprises were very keen to donate to the shelter.
However, Mu Xiulun donated Sun Village not carrying his company’s name, but through his own name.
What a surprise … Beyond his serious and hard exterior lies a warm-hearted person.
Just as Su Jishi was attentively reading the web page, the door was suddenly pushed open and her sister’s manager came in.
“Ahem. Su Jishi, what are you looking at?
“Oh, when I was having dinner with Mu Xiulun yesterday, I heard someone mention Sun Village. I am very interested, so I am checking it out.”
“Sun Village?” Fang Xie oohed twice, “Your sister used to go there.”
Su Jishi: “??”
Fang Xie went to the computer and scrolled to the personal donation list. Sure enough, the three syllables “Su Jinqing” were mixed up in a large number of people’s names at the bottom of the personal donation list, which seemed insignificant.
Fang Xie spoke, falling into memory. “Although Su Jin did not contribute much cash, she did a lot of practical work for Sun Village. The parents of the children are mostly convicted criminals. Many parents of ordinary students will look at them with colored glasses, thinking that they are dangerous and thus they were unwilling to let their children read and play with them.
” — Su Jin took advantage of her social influence and went to the education bureau to talk about this cooperation in person. She also recorded many public service advertisements free of charge. This led the education bureau to let go and agree to let the children of Sun Village go to school nearby. ”
Su Jishi has never heard of this past. However, Su Jinqing was a soft-hearted girl since she was a child.
A bird on the roadside was injured, and Su Jinqing took it home to help bind up its wound.
Su Jishi listened with eager ears. As Fang Xie narrated, it seemed that she was seeing her sister’s life in these memories.
For ten years, Su Jishi missed too much.
“So, did Jinqing know Mu Xiulun when she was doing public welfare work in Sun Village?”
“Yes.” Fang Xie said casually, “Mr. Mu didn’t invest less money in Sun Village. After all, he came from Sun Village.”
Su Jishi: “!!!”
