Chapter 5
Luo Cheng High School was the best high school in the area, and all the residents around here had been here for over dozens of years. The buildings all have an old-time feel to them, and this new dessert shop with cutesy décor really stood out in the middle of the streets.
Bright and clear glass door, cute dining tables, attractive fixtures, along with an elegant display case…
He Qingwan did not worry herself about budget at all during the remodeling; she wanted the best of everything.
A beautiful pair of mother and daughter cleaning inside such a cute and exquisite shop was certain pleasing to the eyes.
This was the first dessert shop in a small town like Luo Cheng. With the exception of the youngsters, who left town on a regular basis, nobody else knew what the shop was selling.
The passersby, regardless of age or gender, all couldn’t help but looked it over repeatedly.
Many gave in to their curiosity and came up to ask for details. Regardless of what it was, or whether they were their demographics, Su Tian and He Qingwan would always happily hand them a flyer or two.
When there were too many inquiries, the two of them decided to just place a shelf on the outside and leave the flyers on there for anyone who was interested to help themselves to one.
When the afternoon came, there was not much left from the big stack of flyers that they had put out earlier in the day.
Su Tian happily refilled the shelf. Regardless of whether they would become paying customers in the future; right now, every flyer taken was equivalent to free advertisement. The shop hasn’t even started doing business yet and it had already gotten so much attention!
After lunch and a break, Su Tian decided to go gain some intelligence on the Lui’s Walnut Cookies across the street from them.
All morning long when she was picking up the store front, Su Tian had noticed that as long as they have no customers inside, the slightly chubby and dark complexion middle-aged woman would look over to their side and talk to her husband while pointing in their direction.
Su Tian was quite experienced with all sorts of people; she could tell that this woman was a difficult one to deal with. She didn’t think it’d be a good idea for her to just go over and buy their products.
She needed a helper.
Right when she was thinking about that, she saw Xi Yun from a distance walking out of the residential area. It looked like he was heading toward a convenient store. Sure enough, she saw him returning with a pack of cigarettes in his hands.
“Tian Tian where you heading to?” asked He Qingwan when she saw Su Tian heading out.
Tian Tian (“sweet”), was Su Tian’s nickname.
“I am going to buy myself a bottle of water!” said Su Tian before she ran off.
Drinking cold water again? Thought He Qingwan to herself, see if she would take care of her the next time she has as a stomach!
Su Tian waited for Xi Yun at the entrance to the residential area. This was a blind spot from the Luo’s Walnut Cookies; she trusted that they would not be able to see her talking to Xi Yun.
When she saw Xi Yun walked by, she called out to him immediately, “Hey, kid. Wait a minute!”
Xi Yun paused and looked up. He recognized that the one calling out to him was the same pretty young woman who helped him found the coin yesterday. Remembering the bruises on his face, he immediately looked back down and continued on his way, but at a much slower pace.
Su Tian followed behind him. This future top wealthy man was but a scrawny little boy that barely reached her chest’s height right now. The bruises on his face neither decreased nor increased; she gathered that he didn’t receive any more beatings yesterday.
Su Tian asked gently, “Can I ask you for a favor?”
Xi Yun still did not look up. It was after a while before a barely noticeable nod could be seen.
