Chapter 429: Chapter 264: The Buddha’s Child Guards the Forbidden Area

“Amitabha Buddha!”
Beneath a blooming golden Bodhi tree, emanating auspicious air and a sweeping radiance, a young Buddhist disciple dressed in moon-white monk’s clothes stood up from the meditation cushion. The Buddhist title reverberated in tandem with the rustle of the tree, rippling through the divine atmosphere.
“Buddhist Disciple!”
Seeing the young disciple rise, the apprentice monks, and nuns moved forward intending to serve him.
“Go and notify the Honored Ones, I am going on a long journey today, which might last at least three years or at most five. I will return to the temple after.”
The face of the young Buddhist disciple remained calm. Nevertheless, his words to the surrounding monks were like a bolt from the blue—an unexpected thunder that left everyone stunned and astounded.
“Master Buddhist Disciple, when will you depart?”
Several nuns stepped forward querying as more apprentice monks hurriedly turned around to find the temple guardians, the Yaksha generals. Since the disciple was about to leave, they had to have protectors accompanying him.
“There’s no need, I can go alone.”
The young Buddhist disciple’s expression remained tranquil, but the surrounding apprentice monks and nuns were very troubled. How could they let him journey far alone, especially for such a long time?
Nevertheless, their objections were futile. The disciple, holding a string of Buddhist prayer beads in his hand and his simple monk’s robe, stepped forward and vanished without a trace. His presence could be felt no more.
Supernatural Power, unimpeded freedom, the divinely conferred power to appear and disappear at will!
The Heavenly Dragon Zen Institute was instantly thrown into chaos.
No one expected that the Buddhist disciple, who regularly preached the scriptures and communicated Buddhist teachings in the temple, would suddenly depart without any servants or information about his destination.
There had been no forewarning, leaving many monks in disbelief when they received the news. After confirming it, they were greatly distressed, bursting into tears, unable to bear the pain.
Fayuan, the current Buddhist disciple of the Heavenly Dragon Zen Institute, was unlike any other. His understanding and interpretation of Buddhism had reached the fruit position where Arhats obeyed him and Bodhisattvas bowed to his wisdom.
Whenever this disciple preached, even the Honored Ones from the Institute would attend, serving at his side for protection. Each sermon led to enlightenment for hundreds of Buddhists, who made startling breakthroughs in their cultivation.
The sudden departure of such a Buddhist disciple understandably left people feeling regretful and flabbergasted.
Several Buddhists even gathered, requesting the Honored Ones who appeared to maintain order to bring back the disciple. Yet, this request was quickly rebuked and chastised.
If someone can’t look at the scriptures without the disciple, they can return to secular life. There’s no need to stay in the temple, wasting their time.
If you lose the Buddhist disciple, can’t you cultivate the Buddhist Dharma?
At this point, more than one Honored One had revealed themselves, and with their repeated reprimands, the clamor in the Heavenly Dragon Zen Institute, caused by the disciple’s sudden departure, slowly calmed down. The numerous disputes and cries also gradually subsided.
“What on earth happened? Why did the Buddhist disciple suddenly desire to travel far away? Who deceived the disciple?”
However, after pacifying the unruly monks in the Zen Institute, several Honored Ones who had shown themselves gathered together. They too were trapped in a knot of regret and sighs, even trying to trace the reason for the disciple’s departure.
“Who could deceive the Buddhist disciple? Even if the formless heavenly demon comes to the world, it is nothing more than a breeze to him. How could it possibly shake his Zen Heart?”
“Alas, what exactly happened to this Buddhist disciple?”
“Who knows? Perhaps our Buddhist disciple has perceived something. After all, he has cultivated Heavenly Eye Power, Heavenly Ear Power, and even Destiny Seer Power.”
“…To what extent has the Buddhist disciple cultivated in the Six Penetrations of our Buddhist Gate? The Buddhist disciple leaves us with Supernatural Power, and I have observed for a long time, but I can’t find the direction of the Buddhist disciple. Even if I go to look for him, I don’t know where to go.”
Another Honored One sighed softly. Upon hearing him speak, the other Honored Ones cast surprised glances at him.
“Compassionate South Honored One, did you not specialize in Supernatural Power? Can’t you trace the Buddhist disciple’s whereabouts?”
“I can’t trace it. The Buddhist disciple’s accomplishments in this supernatural power are beyond my reach!”
“What can we do? Are all six of us Honored Ones going to gather here and not even know where our own disciple is? If this gets out, won’t we become a laughing stock!”
“Then don’t let it get out. Even if we can find clues, the disciple has already made his decision. Can I go against his wishes? Do I forcibly bring the disciple back? Who among you is so sure they can do this?”
At these words, all of the Honored Ones fell silent. Face to face with a Disciple who had mastered all six penetrations of Buddhism in just a few short years, everyone was surprisingly bewildered—it was clearly challenging their common knowledge.
Being able to cultivate any of the Six Penetrations before enlightenment is a sign of innate wisdom, qualifying one for the position of an Arhat and even a Bodhisattva.
If two penetrations can be mastered, even the fruit position of a Bodhisattva is highly probable, and there’s a possibility of becoming a Buddha. However, three penetrations are impossible—the human capacity is limited, regardless of how extraordinary the talent, it must also have its limits.
Not to mention their temple’s Buddhist disciple, even including all the large Buddhist temples that have been passed down for tens of thousands of years, they’ve never heard of any Buddhist disciple who could cultivate all the Six Penetrations of Buddhism before achieving the enlightenment. Even half of them would require a history of 10,000 years to find just a few.
