Chapter 9 Mother Came for Me
Mu Li had finally figured out—that strange woman in the bedroom was named Qingqing.
His eyes turned to Lin Qing’s mother. “She is here. Aunt, please come in.”
Hearing that, Lin Qing’s mother suddenly looked ghastly pale. She tightly pressed her lips, staring at Mu Li with fire burning in her eyes.
Chen Qudong held Lin Qing’s mother, “Aunt, relax. Let’s ask Mr. Mu to find out what had happened.”
In fact, Chen Qudong himself was more upset than Lin Qing’s mother, because he could now almost imagine what had happened between Lin Qing and Mu Li.
Mu Li had studied psychology, so he detected Chen Qudong’s turbulent emotions behind his seemingly calm face.
He suddenly felt things were getting interesting.
After Chen Qudong and Lin’s mother entered the room, Mu Li asked them to sit on the sofa and got them two glasses of water.
“Mr. Mu, when did you get to know Qingqing?”
Unexpectedly, the person who asked this question was Chen Qudong.
He wondered if the question meant that Chen Qudong was as nervous as Lin Qing’s mother.
Mu Li answered frankly, “I came to know Lin Qing last night, thanks to Mr. Chen’s wedding ceremony.”
Lin Qing’s mother looked more horrible. She turned to Mu Li suddenly and asked, “Why did you take her to your house?”
“She drank a little too much.” Mu Li answered, “Besides, I didn’t know where she lived.”
“So that’s why you brought Qingqing to your house?”
When Chen Qudong heard that Lin Qing was drunk yesterday, he looked more upset and his face darkened. “Didn’t you realize that Qingqing was a girl?”
“…” Mu Li raised his eyebrows—if Lin Qing were a man, he wouldn’t take her home.
“You…” Lin Qing’s mother suppressed her anger and looked at Mu Li, “Have you two… done something?”
Mu Li noticed Chen Qudong’s sullen face from the corner of his eyes. He couldn’t help looking at him, and he slightly curled his lips.
That response could easily be misinterpreted. Chen Qudong was almost sure that something had happened between Mu Li and Lin Qing. Blue veins popped out prominently on his temples, and he roared at Mu Li in a low voice, “Tell the truth!”
Mu Li made an idle gesture, and said slowly, “Mr. Chen, aren’t you a bit too upset?”
Upset? Chen Qudong thought, yes, he was really upset now!
In the heat of the moment, Chen Qudong’s voice grew a lot louder. He slapped on the table and said, “Don’t change the subject, answer aunt’s question!”
Mu Li looked at the room where Lin Qing was staying.
At this moment, Lin Qing also heard the sound outside through the door. In the beginning, she did not realize what was happening outside. Then she figured it out that the people outside might be her schoolmate and her mother.
She was stunned for a while before realizing that she was drunk yesterday and didn’t call home. Then she spent the night in Mu Li’s house. Her mother must have been worried about her all night.
Thinking of that, Lin Qing quickly got off the bed, ran to open the door. She then saw her mother and Chen Qudong in the living room.
Hearing the noise made by Lin Qing, people in the living room looked towards her room.
After a quick glance, Lin Qing’s mother almost fainted.
Lin Qing was wearing a loose bathrobe, which was the same as Mu Li’s. Besides, there were vague red marks on her neck.
Her usually neat long hair was a little untidy right now.
And there was a look of both bewilderment and embarrassment on her face…
All these could explain what she went through last night.
Chen Qudong’s face darkened, and Lin Qing’s mother sighed.
Lin Qing drooped her head and walked to them barefooted.
It was spring and the temperature was still a little too low in city A. Mu Li noticed Lin Qing was barefooted. He took a pair of men’s slippers from the shoe cabinet in the hallway and placed them in front of Lin Qing and said, “Put them on.”
