Chapter 9
Ye Xingguang gazed at the cold rain outside the door, “I am not delicate…”
“If you are not delicate, then come out from under the eaves now, stand in front of me, and walk around the campus with me. Let me believe that you are afraid of losing me more than you are afraid of getting your shoes wet in the rain.”
Standing in the pouring rain, Yun Chen looked at her as if he was giving her one last chance to prove she wasn’t delicate.
Yet, Ye Xingguang stood inside the door, unwilling to move even half a step forward, even finding his words amusing. Were such words not funny in such circumstances?
Seeing his scumbag nature, who would risk taking a step forward to expose her identity to him?
Had all the men in the world died?
Did she absolutely have to depend on him?
Yun Chen laughed at himself, “See, this is how little I mean to you! Let it be, stop maliciously attacking Ying Ying with the fact that I cheated on you. She is not like you.”
Having said that, Yun Chen angrily walked away, leaving Ye Xingguang standing there, looking up at the sky to hold back her tears, but to no avail.
She told herself not to cry; he was just a lousy man, not worth it. But her heart refused to comply and the pain was unbearable.
Under the rain curtain, a tall and distinguished man walked casually in the rain. Passing by the furious Yun Chen, he gave him a scornful look, a natural-born dangerous aura that sent a chill down Yun Chen’s spine.
Yun Chen had no idea where the man’s hostility originated. Bewildered, he saw two intimidating bodyguards holding umbrellas for the man. Not daring to provoke him further, Yun Chen quickened his pace.
Ye Junqing gave a cold laugh, no longer paying attention to Yun Chen. Instead, he slowly walked over to the girl who was afraid of the rain…
When he reached the girl, whose tears were streaming down her face because of another man, Ye Junqing didn’t offer any comfort. Instead, he simply picked up Ye Xingguang and threw her onto his back.
Ye Xingguang was startled, “What are you doing?”
“Didn’t your ex-boyfriend say you are delicate and need to be carried when it rains?”
Ye Xingguang wanted to say, to hell with being delicate, but before she could, the man’s commanding voice cut her off: “Stay still and wipe your tears! Every tear you shed now is evidence of your cheating during your official period together. Be careful, or I’ll make sure you end up in jail.”
Ye Xingguang had never seen a man act so unreasonable. She wiped the corner of her eye firmly and pushed the man’s back, “I don’t need you to carry me.”
“Are you sure?” His voice was dangerously low.
“Of course.”
She thought that the proud Ye Junqing, upon hearing her words, would certainly throw her off his back and walk away.
But Ye Junqing ignored her. When his two dutiful bodyguards raised their umbrellas, he strode into the rain with her on his back, throwing out a retort she couldn’t refute: “Too bad the state requires me to carry you. See if you can resist me.”
“…”
“As long as you don’t mess with me, I will never take the initiative to mess with you in this lifetime! Unfortunately, you just need to be taken care of…”
Ye Xingguang: “…”
Why did she get the feeling that his tone suggested she owed him millions?
It wasn’t her who deliberately drew his lot, it was selected by the system!
Ye Xingguang didn’t want to discuss this lose-lose issue. Seeing the pouring rain outside the umbrella, she didn’t dare to take it lightly, fearing her feet would come in contact with the water. As a gust of wind mixed with cold rain blew over, she subconsciously held onto the man’s neck.
After all, this road leading to the campus was quite long. Who knew if he would make her walk by herself halfway?
