Chapter 102 – Revival (2)
Suddenly, Landlord Ding let out a long breath and started breathing on his own.
“He’s alive! Landlord Ding is alive!!” The crowd standing around let out loud cries and they all looked at Gu Ye with surprised, uncertainty, and amazement. Who was this commonly-look girl that could revive the dead?
The old doctor from Jimin Hall couldn’t believe his own eyes. A patient that he had diagnosed as hopeless was brought back to life right in front of his own eyes. Did that mean he had misdiagnosed a lot of patients in the past? The old doctor started having doubts about his own competency as a doctor.
“Young Miss…” said the old doctor with difficulty, “Does this method work for anyone who had just died?”
“Of course not! It only works for those who had stop breathing and have cardiac arrests.” Just what did he think CPR was? If it could treat all ailments, why would we still need doctors?
Gu Ye reached inside her sleeve, when in fact she had reached into her dimension, and fished out a bottle of nitroglycerin (Su Xiao Jiu Xin Wan)1. She put three pills into Landlord Ding’s mouth and said, “Keep them under your tongue. Doctor, please take over from here. Just prescribe him what you normally do for heart diseases would be fine.”
The old doctor didn’t want anything to go wrong with the person who was just brought back to live. He quickly wrote out the prescription and showed it to the little sacred doctor.
Gu Ye shook her head and said, “I only learned this first aid method by chance and happened to match Landlord Ding’s symptoms. I am no sacred doctor. Doctor, you are the in-house doctor of Jimin Hall. I am sure you have solid skills. We all in faith in you! Come, come, come… everybody come and help bring the patient over to Jimin Hall.”
A few sturdy men walked out from the crowd and carefully lifted up Landlord Ding and started walking toward Jimin Hall, which was not too far away. The crowed also followed them out. In the midst of the chaos, Gu Ye grabbed her grandpa and snuck away.
“Oh? You saved the person, gave him medicine but didn’t charge him any money. Xiao Ye-er, that wasn’t like you.” Gu Xiao, who was in a good mood, couldn’t help but teased his little money-grubbing granddaughter.
“If we continue to stay there, people will stare at us like we are pandas or something!” Gu Ye tossed the bottle of nitroglycerin up and down and wondering how she could fetch a good price for them. That Landlord Ding looked to be quite wealthy. Of course, it wasn’t just all about the money. Medicines must be in the hands of those in need for the values to shine.
“Did you learn that bizarre method of saving people for the old grandpa?” asked Gu Xiao as he pointed in the direction of Qingshan Village.
Gu Ye nodded naturally. She had been using her master’s name all this time now she felt no pressure doing that any more. (T/N: Didn’t think she ever did. )
As they were looking around, Gu Xiao saw a clothing shop ahead of them. He looked at his granddaughter and saw the grey cotton jacket on her along with the simple braid. She looked nothing like how a young girl should look.
“Let’s go and buy you a set of new clothes!” Gu Xiao turned around and waved at Gu Ye before walking into the clothing shop.
Gu Ye had made quite a bit of money today. She was a money-grubber, but not a miser. She was quite willing to spend money on herself and those she cared about. What kind of girls didn’t like to look pretty? Naturally, she didn’t object to buying new clothes.
Nonetheless, when she saw the out-of-style winter clothes in the store, she suddenly felt that the dark blue coat that she had on wasn’t that dark after all.
“What do you think about this one?” Gu Ye looked up and saw the set that her grandfather was holding up, she was about to drop dead. Aiyowei2, red button-down top with small floral prints coupled with a turquoise pleated skirt with small floral prints. The outfit of a typical village girl. It was so out-of-style it wasn’t even funny!
