Chapter 1847: Cold Reputation
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
What was this?! Falling to the ground and dying straight away!?
After Lu Li said goodbye to the angel, he rolled and crawled right over to where his corpse was. He had respawned just near his corpse. If he had respawned back in the city, there simply wouldn’t have been enough time for him to run back to pick up the things he dropped.
The item he dropped was actually a Felstriker. Even though there was a level penalty, it was still a fearsome weapon.
Fortunately, he had lost it very soon after starting, so it was relatively close to the edge. After dodging two lightning bolts, Lu Li finally snatched back his own equipment.
Afterwards, he quietly observed these berserk elements as they wreaked havoc.
He didn’t discover any pattern as to how the elements moved, which also meant that there was no way to use logic to avoid danger.
Apart from thunder and lightning, there were also fire, water, earth, shadow and so one. Any element looked like it had the power to one-shot him. By now, Lu Li didn’t even dare to try. He was now in the stage of levelling up from level 60 to 70. If he died, he would lose precious Experience.
Returning to the Alliance in Nagrand City, Lu Li began to do all he could to find clues for the quest.
He suspected that these Kurenai had a way to enter into the Throne of the Elements. It was only because his Charisma or Reputation was lacking that there was no way of knowing this method.
It was different with other Broken ones. The Kurenai did their best to resist their own degenerate desires. Although their intentions were noble, the Kurenai were extremely vigilant when it came to outsiders who were looking in on them and their evil compatriots and others like them.
After searching for half a day, he finally found someone who was willing to pay attention to him. Grasping at straws, Lu Li held onto him for dear life as he sought his advice.
“They’re so cold to everyone. Have you been to the Orebor Harborage?” this Broken one called Alfred asked.
“Yes, I did a few quests there too,” Lu Li answered as his eyes twinkled. In a moment, he understood what the main point of the question was. Evidently, it was his Reputation that wasn’t attractive enough. According to common sense, he should go to Orebor Harborage and farm his Reputation until he was Respected.
Then, when he came here later, these Broken ones wouldn’t be so cold to him.
“Looks like it’s still not enough. I have a quest to give you here, but there’s no quest reward. Are you willing to accept it?”
It turned out that Alfred wasn’t really all that polite either. He was just trying to take advantage of Lu Li.
“I’m willing!”
He had no choice. In order to get information about entering the Throne of the Elements, Lu Li could only accept the facts. He didn’t want to go back to start all over again in Orebor Harborage.
“Good, child, there are many Kurenai guards in Orebor Harborage who live in Zangarmarsh. The Broken ones there have always wanted to help the Broken ones in Telaar to establish relations with the Draenei of Telredor. In order to have the messengers between Telaar and Telredor travel between them quickly, they need to ensure the safety of the Zangarmarsh road, but there are many powerful lifeforms in the marsh. I need you to help me clear up all the monsters on that road.”
“All of them?”
Lu Li couldn’t believe his ears.
“Yes, as long as they threaten this road. Actually, there’s not a lot of them. I believe in your strength,” Alfred said with a tone of full belief.
“Uncle, have you received some information from elsewhere?”
Lu Li thought he had encountered this sort of quest somewhere before.
“Do you know, in Zangarmarsh, the Ango’rosh clan of Ogres are heading east. They’re already far away from Orebor Harborage, and apparently, this quest was completed by you,” Alfred said with great interest and enthusiasm. “Actually, the Boulderfist and Warmaul clan Ogres are also always threatening the safety of Telaar. These two Ogre clans have already sent people to this place to look for food to satisfy their endless desires…”
“Stop!” Lu Li interrupted him, then said resolutely, “I accept your quest. The Ogres are done.”
“If you can finish off the Boulderfist and Warmaul Ogres, you will gain respect from all the Kurenai,” Alfred promised reluctantly.
“Ahem, do you want me to finish off the Murkblood clan?” Lu Li was speechless.
The troubles of the Kurenai in Nagrand came from another group of Broken ones – the Murkblood clan.
These barbaric Broken ones plundered the Mag’har in their stronghold in Sunspring Post and killed many Orcs. They completely wrecked any chance for the Kurenai and Mag’har to live together in peace. What was worse was that the Murkblood clan seemed to be planning to use their new-found power against the Telaar.
However, this old Kurenai making his promise wasn’t him just uttering nonsense either.
Since the Kurenai always tried to make peace and get along with the Draenei, they strongly supported the decision of the Draenei to enter into the Alliance, and also allowed Alliance members to safely enter and exit Telaar. Those people who had gone to Telaar realised that although the Kurenai were wary of strangers, they were good friends to those allies who had passed the test.
Alfred gave a dry, short laugh, then offered, “If you can finish off the Murkblood clan, I’ll give you two sheep.”
All of a sudden, Lu Li’s attention had been captured. However, after he considered the power of the Ogres and Murkblood clans, he still shook his head reluctantly.
The two sheep weren’t ordinary sheep, but rather Talbuks.
Talbuks were a type of animal native to the Nagrand area that were like deer. They were also the favourite mount of the Draenei. This sort of mount was very beautiful, but it was an arduous process to get them.
However, no matter how hard it was to get one of these, it wasn’t as hard as killing the whole Murkblood clan or Boulderfist and Warmaul clan Ogres.
The Boulderfist and Warmaul clan Ogres dropped a type of badge. If players just spent a few days to farm a few more of these sorts of badges, they could buy Talbuks from the NPCs. This old guy Alfred didn’t even bat an eyelid when he was tricking people.
“Can I find friends to help?” Lu Li asked.
There weren’t too many monsters on the road between Telaar and Talredor, but it was a long distance. It would be a nearly impossible task for Lu Li to clean it all up by himself.
“Of course, we welcome more friends to come to Telaar,” Alfred said without hesitation. With more people coming, the Talbuk business would expand, and this way, they could lure adventurers into killing Ogres.
Lu Li didn’t call on his own forces out in the open. After all, everyone’s eyes were already locked on them now.
Everyone quickly killed a wave of the Ogres, but they didn’t see a single Fel Reaver blueprint drop. As such, they began to suspect whether the Ogres actually dropped blueprints. In a situation where there were no new leads, Drizzle Court and Peerless City, who were watching Ruling Sword, would be right.
The friends that Lu Li called were Buggy and co., from the Common District.
After such a long period of development, the number of their Shadow mercenaries had considerably expanded. With 8000 of them, they had one of the highest numbers of mercenaries in the mercenary world.
Of these 8000 people, most of them were Thieves, who were punks from the Common Districts of various cities.
