Chapter 183 The Wounded Heart Had Nowhere to Rest
Xiaoyi felt indignant because of her encounter with Long Xi. Would Long Xi be willing to let accept that? Definitely no.
However, Long Xi clearly knew about Mo Kun!
As she expected, Mo Kun had changed into another person. It was fine for him to return, but he had even held a meeting with the board of directors at once, to fire vice president Long Xi.
Long Xi was not surprised. She had a hunch about what would happen, but never would she expect for it to come so soon!
Mo Kun also invited Qiuzi to join them and announced at present: Qiuzi should replace Long Xi’s position of vice president.
Long Xi saw the obvious malice in Mo Kun’s eyes, and pride in Qiuzi’s eyes, but she did not offer any unnecessary resistance and agreed to leave.
She wasn’t weak, but knew the reason clearly.
She could easily guess out from her toes what Qiuzi was the one pulling the strings.
Long Xi knew that Qiuzi had tried her best to malign her.
Explanation were useless!
Qiuzi was the one Mo Kun trusted the most because she loved him!
Long Xi knew Mo Kun thoroughly.
Whoever he fell in love with would be the one he trusted the most. He would not doubt anything she told him.
Once he hated someone, he would not forgive her or him easily, and would send her or him to hell on his own!
That was the so-called saying, ‘one hoped a person to live with love while hoping that another died with hatred.’
However, before leaving, she wanted to meet Mo Kun again!
She had a feeling that once she left the Molong Building, it would be difficult for her to come back to see him!
She walked to Mo Kun’s office with courage and knocked on the door.
The man was sitting at the desk seriously and going over his files. He glanced at her with a sense of sharpness between his eyebrows. An unknown emotion rose in his mind. He placed the files in his hand back in the portfolio.
Long Xi said, “Mr. Mo, I come to say goodbye!”
She dared not call him brother Kun, because she was afraid of irritating him.
Mo Kun scrutinized her. After a while, he shook his head and said, “Was I blind before? How could I have been fooled by you?”
Long Xi found no words to say for a second. She felt wronged and upset. “Everything I’ve done was for you! All the sufferings I’ve endured were also for you! Do you think I had it easy, going through all of that?”
At that moment, a sweet laughter rose behind Long Xi.
Long Xi was shivering. She knew who was coming!
Qiuzi walked over her and reached Mo Kun’s side, sitting on Mo Kun’s thigh.
Mo Kun didn’t say anything nor he moved, but held her slim waist and allowed her to kiss his neck, like a little puppy declaring her possessive nature.
The room was quiet and the breath could be heard.
Long Xi could not stand still, but she couldn’t figure out whether she could not move her eyesight away or step aside.
After a long while, he finally said, “What? Haven’t seen enough?”
Long Xi clenched her teeth and held back her tears. With all of her strength, she finally turned around and left, slamming the door.
She sobbed for a second. Ignoring people’s looks, she went back to her office with pride. After tidying all of her personal belongings quickly, she left the Molong Building without looking back.
Most of those personal belongings were photos with Mo Kun, plus some small things that Mo Kun had sent to her, like an exquisite marquee or a paper-folded monkey.
She was unwilling to throw away those memories and packed them all into cardboard boxes.
She had gotten a driver’s license and bought a car, but she still insisted on riding a bike. The traffic in X City was terrible during the rush hour!
But it happened so well that her bike ended being broken, so she went to work by subway.
She was tiny and did not have enough strength. It was hard for her to carry a large box of personal belongings using the subway.
When she walked by the gate of the building, she heard someone calling her.
It turned out to be Yan Wangchuan!
She did not know how he got to know she had been fired and even drove there to pick her up.
He was wearing a moon-white attire that day, just like a handsome young master in the Republic of China era. She could not help recalling the sentence: A young master was as pure as jade, who preferred the world of mortals!
Affection was in his eyes. His pupils were dark and dazzling as the moon and stars. His lips were reddish and his teeth were white, as if the flowers were moist with dew.
His appearance really overshadowed everyone around him.
He helped Long Xi lift the box and place it in the trunk of the car, then he said with a smile, “It’s better to go. I don’t think this place is suitable for you!”
Long Xi was alarmed. How could he know everything? Did he always keep in contact with Qiuzi? Or with Pheasant (Feng Zihao)?
Could she get some useful information from him?
Long Xi smiled bitterly and took the initiative to sit in the co-pilot position. She said sadly, “Brother Wangchuan, I don’t feel good. Where do you always go when you’re in a bad mood?”
Yan Wangchuan was driving while saying with a smile, “When I’m in a bad mood, I would go to a place to reduce stress. I have an announcement this afternoon. Besides, that place won’t open during the day. I can take you there tonight. Where do you want to go now?”
Long Xi said, “I’ll go to L&M to arrange some work. I want to take a vacation tomorrow. Xiao Lu mentioned a marine extreme sports store before and I want to go there. Brother Wangchuan, do you want to go with me?”
Yan Wangchuan wore a sweet smile and said, “Okay!”
Long Xi observed his expression, but it was the same as his facial features, no flaw could be found.
Long Xi always thought that she knew brother Wangchuan clearly; but at the moment, she found that she could not guess what he was scheming.
She changed to another topic and asked, “Why are you dressing like this? Is it a costume?”
Yan Wangchuan answered, “Yeah. Not long ago, I received an invitation to play in a TV series of the Republic of China era, as a male performer in the Peking Opera like Mei Lanfang. He is an anti-Japanese patriot, who would die for defending his country. I hoped to study this character deeper before starting up, so I asked the production team for one of his wardribe pieces. I can look for some inspiration while wearing this gown.”
Long Xi said, “When you are perfect in singing, you can turn to performance. I think that you also potential to become a cross-border actor!”
Yan Wangchuan said with a smile, “Don’t tease me. How can I be talented in performing? I am walking on the edge of the sword. I didnt even know how to move to the right positions at first. I was scolded by the director all the time and nearly cried out. Sometimes, my emotion is not right, but sometimes, I can pass that scene once. Sometimes, I can’t burst into tears at a crying scene. I apply some medicated oil and tear down, but the emotion is not right. Later, when I think of you, I cry with true sadness.”
Long Xi felt acid in her mind. Yan Wangchuan’s love for her had reached the extreme, but the problem was that he did not cherish their love when she loved him deeply. She had already given up on their love, but he would not let her go.
In the evening, Yan Wangchuan drove to pick her up on time.
The sunset was about to converge the last rays of light.
Long Xi couldn’t help recalling the sentence that showed up the most in the martial arts novel: “the sunset was as red as blood”.
Yan Wangchuan parked his car next to a street’s stop.
He got out of the car and held Long Xi’s hand with a vague smile on his face. Walking through a few blocks, they neared an alley without people.
At the end of the alley was a large, rusty iron gate with some abstract graffiti that Long Xi could not understand.
“That’s it.” Yan Wangchuan pointed at the gate. Holding Long Xi’s shoulders and raising his chin, he noticed her getting inside with him.
Long Xi was a little confused but did not refuse.
They pushed the gate and a long staircase was leading to the ground.
There was no light in the passageway and they could not see the end of the stairs. There seemed to be a horrible abyss in the darkness, which brought goosebumps but was mysterious.
“What’s down there?” Long Xi’s curiosity was aroused and she could not help asking.
“You should know once you go downstairs!” Yan Wangchuan kept it secret.
“If you don’t tell me, I won’t get down!” Long Xi started niggling.
“What? Are you afraid?” Yan Wangchuan wore a smile and pretended to provoke her.
“…” Sure enough, it was a very effective radical method. Long Xi said nothing and walked downstairs while being held by Yan Wangchuan.
Yan Wangchuan turned on the flashlight function of the mobile phone, allowing the faint blue light to illuminate for them.
Long Xi and Yan Wangchuan stepped down but did not see any light after a long while.
“How far is it underneath?” Long Xi was faintly worried.
“I don’t know. I have never measured it before…” Yan Wangchuan wore a naughty smile.
“… You.. you’d better not to let me down. Otherwise, I will beat you!” Long Xi warned.
“Can’t you believe in me?” Yan Wangchuan leaned towards Long Xi casually. It seemed to give him more courage in the darkness.
Long Xi consciously took Yan Wangchuan’s behavior as a personal subconscious action, so she ignored it.
Continuing going down for a while, the smell of alcohol crept in the air, with the aroma of cherry mixed in.
Further down, the two kinds of smell mixed and became more intense. That mixture seemed to be alive and permeated into Long Xi’s body by her breath and every pore. It messed with her sense of smell and stirred her brain. Long Xi felt dizzy.
“I’m coming back, mother!” Yan Wangchuan pushed the door at the end of the stairs. He seemed to be really familiar with that place, as if he were going home.
Long Xi heard him say “mother” and felt very surprised!
By mother, did he mean Ai Meiqi? In her impressions, Ai Meiqi had no relation to that kind of entertainment venue.
Appearing in front of her was a hall with the single light source scattering over every corner.
That place was undoubtedly a bar, a bar with a stage!
The entire bar was designed as a large cylindrical shape, with colorful reflective bricks on the walls to create various abstract patterns.
At the center of the hall, there was a large circular stage that could rotate in 360 degrees. Two rows of semi-enclosed seats circled the stage. The seats were bright yellow sofas and glass coffee tables were in front.
Some of the sofas were smaller for two people, which could be coupled seats. Some could hold seven to eight people, which were suitable to accommodate a group of friends.
