Chapter 287 Compensation?
Gong Yu nodded and turned to Lisa, “Just go back and rest! Recharge your energy and we will take action tomorrow!”
Lisa did not understand what Gong Yu was going to do, but knew that he must have a plan. She asked casually, “What will we be doing?”
Gong Yu raised his eyebrows and answered her faintly, “You should just go back and have a good rest. Recharge your energy and come support me tomorrow.” Then, he glanced at Lisa and continued, “Everyone should gather here tomorrow. It’s the only requirement.”
Lisa agreed and left. Second had not received Gong Yu’s orders yet, so he stood in front of Gong Yu, and waited, solemnly.
After a while, Gong Yu said lightly, “Is there any message about Xiao Xi from home?”
Second shook his head and said sadly, “I called the home everyday, but there is no updated news.”
Gong Yu’s spirit flagged, but he continued to ask, “How about big brother’s situation?”
“He is also in a tough situation. Several projects are running into problems. Fortunately, Big Master has come forward to solve this, which ensures the projects will not be be taken away. Now, Big Master is trying to reverse the situation, while checking out who the chief instigator is, so he must be really busy.”
“Okay, I got it. Just go and rest! You have been working very hard all these days!”
Second did not leave, but looked at Gong Yu for a while, and said softly, “Master Gong, don’t worry too much about Miss Xiao Xi. We believe that she will definitely be fine and can survive any danger. She will come back safely one day. Now, she must be caught up with something.”
Gong Yu knew that Second was trying to comfort him, and everyone was worried about his state of mind. He nodded and said faintly, “Thank you!”
Second turned around and left. Gong Yu sat in the chair for a long while. Night fell, covering the room in vague darkness. It became darker and darker.
Gong Yu got up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The street lights were lit up, reflecting the stars in the sky.
All the memories he shared with Murong Yunxi were surging in his mind, like a flood that could not be stopped. Every scene was so vivid that he even could see Murong Yunxi’s sweet and fresh smile. Each time he recalled this, both his mind and soul would palpitate.
“Xiao Xi, where are you? When will you come back?” Gong Yu murmured silently, with endless yearning and sorrow in his voice.
Not knowing how long he stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, Gong Yu finally lay on the sofa. Gong Yu was tall and strong, which made the spacious sofa looked narrow. Gong Yu fitted his body onto the sofa, and gradually fell asleep.
Late at night, the door opened slightly, and a dark figure crept in. The person gently placed a blanket over Gong Yu, sighed and walked out of the room.
Early the next morning, the sun rose over the oriental skyline, and very soon, it brightened every corner of this world. A ray of sunshine poured in, and illuminated the room.
Gong Yu’s long and thick eyelashes fluttered slightly and his eyes opened slowly. He straightened his body suddenly, and the blanket slipped to the floor. He picked up the blanket which still retained his warmth. He hesitated for a second, and put it next to him on the sofa.
His limbs felt a bit stiff when he got up. Moving his body, he stepped to the floor-to-ceiling windows and looked at the bright sunshine, outside. It was warm but not glaring, making him feel relaxed.
“Xiao Xi, a new day begins! When today is over, I will go back home, so you should come back as soon as possible. You know?”
Gong Yu’s mouth curved slightly. His smile was as warm as the sunshine, brightening his whole face.
Someone knocked gently at the door. Gong Yu answered, and Lisa, Second and Little Three walked in together and stood in front of him.
“Mr. Gong, when will we be setting off?”
Gong Yu checked the watch on his wrist, and his mouth turned up at the corners, giving him a quirky look. “No hurry, there is still enough time. We can go out an hour later.”
————
An underground bar in the city center.
The leader of the Black Collar Organization, Kyle Stephen, walked in with a few subordinates.
Kyle Stephen was an old man, around 50 years old, and was bald. He was a bit plump and was dressed in a black suit. Because of his height, his body looked good in the suit.
The several subordinates following him, had the usual characteristics of Westerners, white skin, blue eyes, and high noses. They were quite good looking.
The light in the bar was gloomy, filling the dim space with a trace of mystery and ambiguities.
Gong Yu had booked the whole bar, so except for a few staff, there were no other people.
Kyle found a spacious position in the middle of the hall, and he had a calm and somewhat arrogant manner.
In a short while, the door opened. Stephen glanced at the door, but did not pay too much attention. He thought it was Gong Yu, but unexpectedly, it was the leader of Red Dragon Gang, Laolun Kelan, who came in.
Lauren Crane was a black man, around 40 years old, and he wore a white suit. The contrast of black and white made him particularly eye-catching. He had a conspicuous scar on his head, which made him look particularly fierce.
Lauren Cran was surprised when he saw Kyle Stephen there. Even though they were working secretly together, they also superficially pretended to be on bad terms with each other. At this time, they had been invited here together, and did not quite know how to continue the charade.
Lauren Cran, followed by his subordinates, did not sit down at the same table as Kyle Stephen, but found another table. He looked around the bar. Before he could say anything, the door opened again.
This time, Gong Yu came in with Lisa, Second, and Little Three.
Gong Yu was wearing a tailored black suit with a plaid pattern, which set off his perfect figure well. He wore a pair of black sunglasses, which hid the cold expression on his face. His cold and arrogant manner were attractive characteristics, that would shock everybody here.
Even though Lauren Crane and Kyle Stephen were considered sophisticated in the underworld, they felt shocked, the first time they met Gong Yu. When they glanced at Gong Yu again, they felt somewhat inferior, compared to Gong Yu’s natural kingly demeanor.
The two were slightly stunned. Only Murong Ye used to give them this kind of feeling, but they had not expected that Gong Yu, this sudden up and coming guy, could shock them in a similar way.
Gong Yu sat down near their tables. Their positions formed a natural triangle.
“Sorry, I am a little bit late. Please excuse me.” Gong Yu’s voice was cold and arrogant though, without any hint of apology in it.
“Oh, Mr. Gong, what are you playing at today?” Kyle Stephen squinted his eyes, pretending to be friendly.
Gong Yu chuckled and took off his sunglasses, looking at them coldly. “Today, I invited you two, my friends, to talk about the old days!”
“Mr. Gong, it’s really funny. It seems that we are not familiar with you.” Kyle Stephen smiled softly, but his tone was hostile.
“I mean that since you two are such close friends, it is better for you to get together. Today, please allow me to invite you two, for a drink.”
Then, Gong Yu waved his hand to a waiter behind him.The waiter brought wine and glasses instantly to their table.
The two leaders were confused about Gong Yu’s behavior and inadvertently glanced at each other. This subtle eye contact was noted by Gong Yu, which gave away the relationship that they had tried to hide. Gong Yu was in no hurry, as he turned aside and pretended to ignore them. The two communicated through eye contact for several seconds, and turned to Gong Yu again.
Gong Yu did not care about their eye signals, and said unhurriedly, “Today, the purpose of inviting you two to have a drink here, is to talk about compensation.”
“Compensation? What do you mean?” Having heard what he said, Lauren Cran held his breath and did not understand Gong Yu’s meaning.
“This time round, you two have taken great pains to vilify the reputation of the Murong Family. Shouldn’t you pay the compensation?” Gong Yu raised his head, looking at them with eyes as sharp as a sword. It seemed to penetrate into the two leaders’ hearts and made them very nervous.
“I don’t understand what you are saying!” Being older than Lauren Cran, Kyle Stephen behaved more calmly, and was able to tell a lie without even blinking. In contrast, Lauren Crane behaved somewhat differently, glancing at Kyle Stephen again.
“Well, since we are sitting together, why not say something sincere. Those days, you two have spared quite a lot of effort and we have been watching you play this game for so long. It’s alright for you two to trap each other, because you are friends, but I am not. How can I play along with you for so long, but get nothing? Now, since you two have already had fun, you should pay for the service fee.” A piece of indubitability showed up in his eyes.
Kyle Stephen and Lauren Cran looked at each other. The former asked him calmly, “Mr. Gong, what’s the misunderstanding between us? Or do you mean to find trouble with us?”
Gong Yu realized that Kyle would not own up until the last moment. Of course, this was what he had expected.
