Chapter 45: The Peeping-Tom at the Door
Orina’s recent carefree life had put her in a good mood.
Her mind was on the tavern the entire way, and she did not notice the person following behind her.
The Evil Lord, Abraham, knew that he was following an elven expert, so he was even more careful along the way.
On the way to the tavern, Abraham paid attention to the changes in the surrounding streets while pondering what sort of place made this elven expert so happy.
He followed her the entire way. When Orina was about three meters away from the tavern, her small steps turned into a jog and she entered the tavern in a jiffy.
Abraham watched the female elf in front of him enter the tavern. He stopped and observed the outside of the tavern.
In his eyes, this tavern was as gorgeous as a Demon King’s palace. The overall structure of the tavern was made of wood, and it looked very stylish.
After two renovations by the system, the appearance of the tavern’s wood had changed a lot. It was originally shabby, but now it was a little old, and now it had a sense of historical vicissitudes.
That was not all. There was also the glass on the windows. This was something he had never seen in the abyss.
The setting sun shone diagonally on the glass windows. The light refracted by the glass was so enchanting.
Abraham stood in the shadow of the street, indulging in the sight for a long time.
Until the sky turned completely dark, and the moon rose to the top of his head.
The glass lost its light source and returned to its original color.
Abraham came back to his senses and hurriedly took out his diary.
Abyss Calendar: (crossed out) Hailar Calendar: The First Day of the Invasion of the Human World
Today was the first day of this king’s arrival in the human world. I saw many new things that I had never seen before.
Humans were not so backward. They had tall walls, busy and clean streets, strong houses, and very beautiful windows.
The material on the windows could refract the light into various beautiful colors. It was really beautiful…
This king was engrossed in looking at it. That was all the investigation report for today.
Tomorrow, this king must be even more cautious in his investigation.
There were too many experts in the human world! I must be careful, careful, even more careful!
After Abraham finished writing and checking, he nodded and closed the diary with a smile. He put the notebook into his pocket and moved closer to the tavern.
In the tavern
After Orina got to know Wayne and the rest, they liked to hang out together every time they came to drink.
She heard many stories that she had never heard before from them.
After listening to many of them, it felt like she had experienced those stories before.
The only waiter in the tavern disappeared with Yupanki’s departure. Alan, the store manager, had no choice but to step forward again and take on multiple roles.
“Little Alan, quickly refill the drinks for us.”
Uncle Wayne unceremoniously directed Alan, who was busy with work.
“Coming, coming.”
Even though he was already very familiar with everyone, Alan still treated everyone as guests.
Looking at the bustling scene in the tavern, he also felt a strange sense of satisfaction.
His current state was much better than when he had just transmigrated.
Alan had a group of reliable friends by his side and a group of elders who were willing to take care of him.
More importantly, Alan now had a sense of belonging to the small tavern, and gradually fell in love with the feeling of brewing wine.
The lively atmosphere in the tavern constantly stimulated Abraham, who was outside. Passerbys pointed at him as he was wearing tattered robes. Everyone thought that this homeless man had been attracted by the smell of wine.
The aroma of wine wafted out of the tavern, making Abraham, who had not eaten anything for a whole day, feel hungry.
However, he was cautious by nature and had not completely let down his guard against the tavern. He could only keep probing at the door.
People were going in and out of the tavern. When the Evil Lord peeked from the corner of the street, he could see a youth in the hall who did not have any magical fluctuations on his body. He was carrying a tray in his hand and shuttling through the various tables. He took away the empty bottles and replaced them with new bottles.
Abraham was very surprised. Why were the experts in the tavern laughing so happily beside this youth who did not have any magical energy.
There were even quite a number of people who were very respectful to the youth.
The doubt in Abraham’s heart deepened. Perhaps he was too far away and his perception was wrong?
Or could it be that the youth was actually terrifyingly strong and so Abraham’s strength was far from being able to see through him?
In conclusion, this was a mysterious youth.
Abraham reached into his arms and was about to take out his diary…
Dorje, having arrived late, passed by the corner of the street and saw Abraham, who was staring at the small tavern in a dark corner.
Dorje pondered for a moment and was about to approach him to see if he needed help.
But Abraham, who felt someone approaching him, turned around and ran away quickly, disappearing into the street.
Dorje, who was startled by the strange vagrant in front of him, rushed into the tavern and shouted loudly for Alan.
“Little Alan, Little Alan…”
The customers in the tavern who were originally drinking stopped talking when they heard Dorje’s shout and looked at him at the same time.
Dorje ran quickly to Alan and asked anxiously.
“Little Alan, have you met any strange person who came to the tavern recently?”
Alan was confused.
“Uncle Dorje, what’s wrong with you?”
Dorje looked at the confused young man in front of him and quickly told him what had happened.
“I saw a strange person at the corner of the street just now. That person was wearing a tattered robe and looked sloppy. He was also wearing a black cloak and his face was covered up.”
Dorje described, “He was standing in the dark corner of the street, staring straight at the tavern. I saw him reaching for something in his arms, so I wanted to ask him if he needed help, but he turned around and ran away. I don’t know if he was plotting something bad?”
After Dorje said that, Uncle Wayne and Orina’s faces darkened.
They had been sitting in the tavern for a long time, but they did not notice such a strange man standing outside.
If this person had wanted to harm the tavern, would they have been able to stop him?
“Huh, was there such a person? Why didn’t I notice? The tavern has been very normal recently,” Alan said indifferently.
Seeing that everyone was worried, he immediately comforted them.
“Everyone, don’t worry. It’s fine. I’m absolutely safe in the tavern.”
Orina frowned, her face full of disapproval.
“If that person really wants to harm you, are you going to hide in the tavern for the rest of your life?”
“Eh, not necessarily. Maybe that person is just a little shy and wants to come in for a drink?” Alan said optimistically.
“Alright, let’s all drink. Don’t worry too much about me.”
Alan called for everyone to continue drinking.
Under Alan’s comfort, the customers relaxed and the tavern gradually returned to its original lively state.
However, Orina and Wayne took this matter to heart. The two of them looked at each other and secretly made a decision. From tomorrow onwards, they would guard Alan well until they figured out what that person’s purpose was.
Abraham escaped from the back street. He was still in shock as he muttered to himself.
“Phew, this tavern is indeed full of crouching tigers and hidden dragons. It seems that I need to be more cautious.”
