Chapter 496: Chapter 490: Alien?
“Don’t you find it strange how I went from a poor student to the world’s richest man in such a short time?” Finn Lewis asked.
“Didn’t the media already report this? They said you have a high talent in finance.” Kay Lee asked in a somewhat stunned way. Apparently, many people had bought this explanation. In fact, if it weren’t for the existence of that mysterious foundation with more than a century’s history, no one would probably believe it.
It was this factor that led many to believe Finn’s explanation about his source of funds.
“Of course not, those are all media speculations. Even though there is such a foundation, it had nothing to do with it,” Finn quickly dismissed the idea.
“So, what’s the real reason?” Kay Lee immediately asked.
“Do you believe in the existence of aliens?” Finn asked, changing the subject.
“Aliens? Uh… you’re not suggesting you’ve encountered aliens, are you?” The reaction from Kay Lee was swift. She was so astonished that her mouth dropped open mid-sentence.
“Not exactly ‘aliens’. More like an alien spaceship, or perhaps an intelligent computer, and a few factories. There were no aliens, the entire ship was operated with high-tech automation. Then, by stroke of luck, I stumbled upon it.” Finn shrugged it off.
At first, Kay was full of disbelief. But, when Finn took her to see the underground base, which was obviously beyond human technology, she finally started to believe him. The fact that Finn told her something of such magnitude touched her deeply. Even if she couldn’t understand everything, she knew that Finn trusted her intensely.
“Are you not afraid I’ll spill the beans?” Kay asked, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Finn.
“There’s nothing to be afraid of. Besides, I believe you won’t share this with anyone.” Finn responded with a smile.
“Thank you,” Kay stated, looking deeply into Finn’s eyes. Trust between people is mutual. The trust that Finn bestowed upon her, Kay understood well. Finn’s secrets were his biggest treasures, and him sharing them with her signified trust beyond telling her his bank passwords.
“There’s no need for thanks. Seeing as you’ve chosen to spend your life with me, it’s only right that you know these things.” Finn said, smiling before adding, “Another thing I have to tell you is that I plan on assigning you two bodyguards.”
“Bodyguards?” Kay was a little surprised, but after hesitating for a short moment, she didn’t refuse. Instead, she nodded and said, “Alright then, just let me know when you’re ready.”
“Don’t worry. The bodyguards I’m referring to are not like the ones you’re picturing in your mind. There’s a vast difference,” Finn said with a laugh.
“Oh? What are they like?” Kay was curious.
With the clap of his hands, two female T1000 robots that Finn had recently created walked into the room. They weren’t remarkably beautiful, but they were not ugly either. They could pass off as beautiful girls with a little makeup, otherwise they would simply blend in with the rest of the crowd.
“These are the bodyguards I’ve found for you,” Finn said, laughing.
“These girls?” Kay was astonished. These girls seemed even more slender than she was. Were they really bodyguards? Furthermore, their skin didn’t exhibit signs of constant physical training.
“Yes, them. Go ahead and give them names,” Finn suggested with a smile.
“They don’t have names?” Kay was genuinely surprised. Were there actually people in their twenties without names in this world?
“Of course not, they’re not humans, so they don’t have names,” Finn replied, laughing.
“Not humans? How is that possible?” Kay was startled.
“They’re highly realistic androids. They may appear identical to human skin, but they’re actually robots. Their brains contain central processing units and they don’t rely on food for energy,” Finn explained with a shrug.
“Impossible!” Exclaimed Kay, covering her mouth in shock. Robots? These were robots? Even the robots in some science fiction movies weren’t this realistic!
“Give them a demo,” Finn motioned with his mouth. The robot on his left nodded respectfully and quickly grabbed a baseball bat from behind.
“Please examine it, Madame,” the robot said and handed the bat to Kay.
Kay took the bat and examined it before giving it back. Agreeing that it was indeed a baseball bat, she watched as the T1000 robot twisted it into a pretzel with her bare hands.
Observing this shocking sight, Kay was stunned to the point where her mouth fell open. She instinctually reached out and lightly pinched the robot’s arm and palm. It felt exactly like human skin, but the strength was beyond any human capability. Despite having seen more astonishing things earlier, Kay was still visibly shocked at the existence of these robots who so closely resembled humans.
“Please watch, Madame,” the robot said. She quickly took a fruit knife from the nearby tea table and without hesitation, plunged it into her own arm. Upon witnessing this, Kay screamed in surprise, but what stunned her further was that even though the robot exerted great force, her skin remained unscathed. She even sliced her skin horizontally with the knife, but it only left a white mark.
“This skin may look like ours, but it’s actually a type of special synthetic material that regular bullets cannot penetrate, although it isn’t immune to rifle shots. As long as their brains remain undamaged, they won’t suffer any fatal harm. Given recent events, I’ve become more concerned,” Finn shook his head and said.
“Moreover, you were clearly targeted this time because of me. So, I don’t want you to be harmed anymore. These two robots will obey your every command. You can give them names, and they can help you with many things. You can treat them like two regular humans. Their central processors are extremely advanced and comparable to human elites,” Finn added.
