Chapter 114: Chapter 114: One Rider Chases a Hundred Riders
Lin Shen wandered around, looking for mutated creatures and Ultra-Burn Warriors he could hunt, when unexpectedly, he came across Mo Shengqi and others being besieged by a team of Ultra-Burn Warriors.
Originally, Lin Shen glanced from afar and did not plan to meddle, wondering if he might encounter another ungrateful wretch like Zheng Yan.
Having once been bitten by a snake, Lin Shen was wary of the rope for ten years; what if, after saving someone, he attracted the pursuit of an Ascender? He wasn’t sure if he’d be lucky enough again to encounter a Black-Capped Mushroom Beast that could offer a way out.
So, he just watched from a distance, hesitating, but then he was somewhat moved by the sight of Mo Shengqi single-handedly holding off the Ultra-Burning Corps.
After a moment of indecision, Lin Shen still charged into the fray on his Big Red Bull.
Without using the Angel Revolver, he simply launched several Crystal Base pets from the Pet Launcher that he had acquired from that vice legion commander.
He rushed over holding the Blood Crystal Double-Edged Giant Axe, just for show, without any real intention of clashing with those Crystal Base Ultra-Burn Warriors.
As he approached, he planned to hurl the Blood Crystal Double-Edged Battle Axe like a flying blade, then draw the other two Pet Launchers from his waist to catch them by surprise with a salvo.
Lin Shen didn’t want this, but he didn’t know how to use such a battle axe; he might manage a jab or two with a long spear, but he truly didn’t know how to wield an axe.
He had a good plan, but before Lin Shen could find the opportunity to throw his axe, the Ultra-Burn Warriors besieging Mo Shengqi suddenly turned tail and ran, each one riding a Big Black Bull, fleeing faster than the next.
Even the Ultra-Burn Warriors who were chasing the logistics personnel turned their mounts around and fled desperately.
This left Lin Shen utterly perplexed; why were these Ultra-Burn Warriors so much more cowardly than Augustman and the others? They ran away even before the fight had begun.
Lin Shen really wanted to tell them not to run, “Guys, I’m not that strong, I’m terrible with an axe, so stop messing around and come chop me instead.”
Now that they had all run away, whom was Lin Shen supposed to rob of battle clothes, helmets, and axes?
He had seen very clearly just a moment ago that one of the Crystal Base Ultra-Burn Warriors had a Pet Launcher, and though it seemed to have a slow firing rate of just over twenty, it could still be sold for money!
What Lin Shen didn’t realize was that the so-called Pioneer Corps was just a nice name; in reality, they were a cannon fodder corps, meant to serve as a suicide squad.
Apart from the leader, the vice-leader, and some of their confidants, it was pretty much a ragtag group, including many criminals who were given a chance to redeem themselves by acting as fodder.
These guys were quite fierce usually, but seeing Lin Shen’s equipment, which was obviously looted from the vice-leader, along with so many battle axes and helmets, they could easily guess what had happened.
The vice-leader and his guards must have been taken out by this person, and with their paltry strength, how could they dare to stand against Lin Shen? They were scared off immediately.
With one fleeing, soon they all followed suit, not giving Lin Shen a chance to execute his plan.
Having finally encountered an Ultra-Burn Warrior with a Pet Launcher, Lin Shen was unwilling to let him escape; he slapped his Big Red Bull and charged at that Crystal Base Ultra-Burn Warrior.
He could leave the battle clothes and helmets, but the Pet Launcher was a must-have.
Mo Shengqi and the logistics personnel were also baffled; they had been prepared for an imminent disaster, ready to fight to the death.
Who would have thought that the formidable Ultra-Burning Corps, which seemed more terrifying than tigers and wolves, would suddenly turn and run, none faster than the other?
“What’s going on?” Mo Shengqi and the others stared blankly as a Great Red Bull Knight wielding a Blood Crystal Double-Edged Axe chased after hundreds of fleeing Ultra-Burn Warriors.
The numerous and strong Ultra-Burning Corps didn’t even dare to turn back and lacked the courage to fight.
“`
Lin Shen’s Great Red Bull was much faster than their mounts, catching up with a slower one; he swiftly raised his axe and brought it down, chopping towards the head of the Ultra-Burn Warrior.
The Alloy Level Ultra-Burn Warriors were already scared out of their wits, trembling as they turned to raise their axes to block, lacking even the courage to strike back.
Their alloy battle axes were no match for Lin Shen’s Blood Crystal Battle Axe, which instantly cut through the handle and split the warrior in half along with it.
The Ultra-Burn Warriors fleeing ahead panicked even more when they saw this, dispersing in all directions, each valuing their own life above all else.
“Fuck, who does that Great Red Bull Knight serve? He’s fierce!”
“Strange, why don’t I see his exclusive image on the system? Is he not human?”
“He must be human; aliens wouldn’t help humans.”
“I thought Lü Bu was invincible, but there’s still a fierce fellow like the Great Red Bull Knight…”
“Look at the battle axes and helmets stuck in the bag behind him; how many high-level Ultra-Burn Warriors has he killed?”
“Great, Mo Shengqi is saved.”
“One man chasing down a whole team of Ultra-Burn Warriors, our Great Red Bull Knight is awesome. What Ultra-Burn Warriors, trash, not a single one dares to turn around and fight our Great Red Bull Knight.”
Watching Lin Shen chase down a hundred riders, everyone felt exhilarated, wishing they could join him on the battlefield and slaughter enemies across a thousand miles.
Many were puzzled as to why there was no exclusive image of him on the Firmament Projection System and suspected he was not human.
Mo Shengqi recovered from the shock and wanted to call Lin Shen back, but only saw Lin Shen raise the Pet Launcher in his hand; the pets he had launched were already following the chase, soon disappearing behind the distant grassy slopes.
“Ah… no, wait… why are there no cameras… I still want to see the Great Red Bull Knight slaughter the Minotaurs…”
Many were frustrated, but there was nothing they could do; only those who were teleported through the Realm King Cultivation Device had an image. As Lin Shen moved further away from them, they naturally lost sight of him.
“Who is that person, to be so brave and fierce? Could it be Ouyang Yudu?” Mo Shengqi watched the direction in which the Great Red Bull Knight was disappearing, contemplating with a complex expression.
The spectators knew that the Great Red Bull Knight was not Ouyang Yudu, for at that moment Ouyang Yudu and his men were encountering a group of Crystal-based Creatures and were also embroiled in a tough battle.
Lin Shen chased the Minotaur with the Pet Launcher, while the other Minotaurs quickly realized this and distanced themselves from that one, scattering and fleeing.
The Minotaur, seeing Lin Shen gaining on him, was shocked and enraged, not understanding why Lin Shen was relentlessly pursuing him.
“Warrior, we have had no grudges in the past and no quarrels recently, why are you chasing me?” the Minotaur called out loudly while desperately urging his mount to go faster.
“Surrender your weapon and I’ll spare your life; just leave your stuff and I’ll let you live,” Lin Shen responded.
“I can leave my stuff behind, but how can you guarantee you won’t kill me?” There were also clever ones among the Minotaurs, not all were fools like Augustman.
“You talk too much,” Lin Shen grew impatient. Seeing that there was no one around, he directly pulled out the Angel Revolver and took a shot at the Minotaur without hesitation.
The Minotaur was startled and hurriedly used his giant axe as a shield, but there was no sound of the pet hitting the blade of his axe. A mutated Black Armored Centipede traced a bizarre arc, bypassing the giant axe, striking the Minotaur’s head. Countless claws clung to his head, biting down as they held on.
“Ahh!” The Minotaur screamed miserably and fell off the back of the Big Black Bull.
