Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Saving People
The next morning, everyone was awoken by the noise of banging on the door outside.
“What’s happening, could it be those people from the bus again?”
Lin Xiuyuan rubbed his eyes and walked out.
“This sound, it must be the zombies knocking,” Liao Yifan also woke up and said leaning against the wall.
The others slowly emerged from their rooms, Mao Qiqi, rubbing her sleepy eyes, sensed with her spiritual power, “It’s zombies, over a hundred of them.”
“What’s going on? Why are there suddenly so many zombies?” Su Xiangzhe asked curiously.
Yesterday, they had specifically chosen an area with the fewest zombies and had also cleared some of the surrounding ones; how could there be so many now?
“Qiqi, are those people next door still there?” Su Jin asked, this sudden appearance of zombies was too strange unless someone intentionally lured them here.
“They’re gone, no, there’s still one person there!” Mao Qiqi was surprised to discover that the small green dot was quite faint, nearly gone, and she shared this information with everyone.
Hearing this, Xue Wanyi used his Wind Element Ability to jump onto the second-floor rooftop and saw the situation next door. From his position, he could only see a girl lying in a pool of blood, bleeding profusely, which must have attracted so many zombies.
Since the two houses were extremely close, zombies had surrounded both doorways.
But since Qiqi said she was not yet dead, it seemed she was still hanging on to life, and Xue Wanyi immediately went back to relay this information to everyone.
“Good heavens, how can there be such people?”
Mrs. Su found it somewhat hard to believe, as those people didn’t seem capable of such actions.
Su Jin felt it was quite normal, in the Apocalypse, humans were no longer constrained by good or evil. Unintentionally offending someone could cost you your life when you least expect it.
“That’s why we need to be wary not just of zombies in the Apocalypse, but of people too,” Lu Hao summed up.
“Fortunately, we didn’t open the door for that group yesterday.”
Guo Yang still felt shaken when he thought about it.
“These people actually tried such a sneaky move on us, next time we see them, we need to return the favor with something bigger,”
Lu Guanhai was nearly infuriated to death; just because they refused to join them, those people led so many zombies here, absolutely disgusting.
“Absolutely, it’s infuriating!”
Liao Yifan, enraged, punched the coffee table, shattering its tempered glass surface to smithereens.
Everyone: “…”
“Hehe, uh, sorry about that, I forgot to control my strength,” Liao Yifan sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
“Alright, time for morning training again, let’s have breakfast afterward,” Lin Xiuyuan suggested.
Everyone agreed, as it was uncertain how long the door outside could hold, and with a dying person next door, who knew how many more zombies that might attract.
Mao Qiqi also got her wish to join the battle, Mao Zhihang stayed by her side to protect her, but he was surprised to find that his daughter was far more formidable at killing zombies than he had imagined. She could take advantage of her height to make the zombies miss their attack, then kick them down from behind and directly stab the watermelon knife into the back of the zombie’s head!
“Qiqi, you’re amazing!”
As her instructor, Liao Yifan gave Mao Qiqi a thumbs-up.
Mao Qiqi also felt very relieved. She originally just wanted to teach Qiqi how to escape danger, but against the zombies, Qiqi was not only unafraid, she also killed them decisively.
The nearly a hundred zombies were quickly cleared out.
Xue Wanyi kicked open the door of the neighboring house, causing everyone behind him to gasp in shock.
The girl lay in a pool of blood. Although there were no visible injuries on her body, a terrifying gash had been slashed across her wrist!
Su Jin walked over, sighed deeply, and found the girl already cold to the touch, barely hanging on. It was uncertain if she could survive this.

When Zheng Miaomiao opened her eyes again, she found herself lying in a bed. The sounds of laughter and joy from outside the door felt like another world, as if everything that happened in the apocalypse was just a dream. She looked at her wrist, now only bearing a light pink scar, but it still reminded her of all she had endured.
Sun Yixue, Liu Jiajin, you better hope we never meet again!
Zheng Miaomiao clenched her teeth in hatred. After returning to her room last night, she hadn’t paid attention to what was happening outside. To her shock, she was bound early in the morning before dawn by Sun Yixue, who directed Liu Jiajin to slit her wrist and then threw her into the courtyard before leaving. The other members just stood by and watched, none attempting to rescue her.
How absurd!
Zheng Miaomiao wiped her tears, curious to see who had saved her.
Feeling lightheaded and weak as she stood up, she reached for a glass of water beside her and drank it down in one gulp.
What sweet water!
After drinking, Zheng Miaomiao felt a surge of strength. Seeing her clothes had been changed into clean ones, a warmth flooded her previously chilled heart instantly.
The group had already cleaned up the coffee table shattered by Liao Yifan. He had found another table and placed it beside the sofa, piled high with steaming box lunches. As they ate and chatted, the atmosphere was so harmonious it made Zheng Miaomiao want to cry again.
“Sorry to interrupt, thank you all,” Zheng Miaomiao immediately knelt in gratitude.
“Child, get up, get up,” Mrs. Su couldn’t bear to see this and quickly went to help her up.
Su Jin glanced at Zheng Miaomiao, noticing she looked relatively well recovered. Initially, they planned to wait until noon, and if she hadn’t awakened by then, they were going to leave some food and depart. She had recovered rather quickly, however.
“Child, how could they leave you there alone?” asked Mrs. Su about the incident.
Zheng Miaomiao recounted her ordeal calmly without embellishment, including how much people respected Sun Yixue’s Space Element Ability.
“Space Element Ability can be so capricious?”
Guo Yang found it unbelievable after hearing the story.
In his opinion, a Space Element Ability was merely a convenient mobile storage; if it weren’t for his zombie killing capabilities, he’d be useless in this team. How could that Sun Yixue wield so much power?
“What, thinking of switching sides?” Liao Yifan glanced at him.
“No no no, switching teams is impossible, something I would never consider in this lifetime,”
Guo Yang waved his hands hastily, believing that Lu Hao’s team was the best one in the world.
Su Jin wanted to say that the Space Element Ability was indeed very desirable and rare in the early stages of the apocalypse, but that changed in the mid to late stages. Teams would then realize that Space Element Ability Users were neither fighters nor defenders, and in cases of betrayal, the whole team’s supplies could be taken away.
So some teams preferred to store their supplies in a high-cost rented warehouse at a safe base, rather than in the space of a team’s Space Element Ability User. That Sun Yixue was likely digging her own grave.
