Chapter 429 Luring the Enemy Away
The restaurant was empty. Lin Qinghua and Lin Qingyu were nowhere to be seen.
Qing Zhui grabbed the collar of a waiter who was clearing the table. She asked fiercely, “Where are those two customers?”
That waiter was shocked and answered nervously, “They left. They left immediately after you three went off. They went out by the backdoor.”
Qing Zhui released that waiter.
Ning Tao did not ask anything, instead walking quickly to the washroom.
Qing Zhui followed him closely behind. Ning Tao went into the male washroom and she too entered after him.
Ning Tao bit his finger and drew a blood lock just below the basin.
Qing Zhui asked curiously, “Brother Ning, aren’t we going after Lin Qinghua and Lin Qingyu?”
Ning Tao answered, “We must visit Sunshine Orphanage.”
Qing Zhui immediately understood, her eyes horrifically chilling. “Is he luring us away? If Lin Qinghua dares to act against those kids, Ge Ming or Su Ya, I will kill him!”
This was the reason why Ning Tao had left so hurriedly. When he saw those gangsters bringing the policemen over, he had realized there would be trouble. Under normal circumstances, those gangsters would not have dared retaliate against someone was armed. But they had done just that. After returning to the restaurant, he had found Lin Qinghua and Lin Qinghua gone. This intensified his worry. Not for nothing but the fact that Sunshine Orphanage was his Achilles’ heel. That place was totally unguarded.
After unlocking the blood lock, a convenient door opened in the washroom. Ning Tao strode in and Qing Zhui followed.
When they returned to Sky Clinic, Ning Tao opened a convenient door leading to Sunshine Orphanage. When he emerged out from it, he and Qing Zhui had appeared in a room in the orphanage.
No lights were turned on in the room. All was quiet.
Not only this room, the entire orphanage was quiet. Nor were there any lights turned on. The entire orphanage seemed to have lapsed into a stationary time zone. The air appeared to have solidified. It was all horrifically quiet.
This was not normal at all.
Ning Tao summoned the states of looking and smelling in his eyes and nose. Through the window curtain, he could see a large quantity of colorful innate auras appearing in his sight. His nose too captured the remnant stench of demons in the air. The odor was very strong!
Qing Zhui did not stay idle. She spat out her tongue, trembling in the air.
Ning Tao raised four fingers. Then he pointed at the left and right sides of the door, window and door plank.
Qing Zhui nodded. The result she detected using her tongue indicated the same thing.
Suddenly, Ning Tao pounced from her side, catching Qing Zhui and knocking her to the floor.
Pfft, pfft, pfft…
Bullets were shattering the window and door plank. All the furniture in the room shattered and fell to the floor. The cotton in the quilt fluttered about, the walls ridden with bullet holes. Smithereens of cement and bricks scattered in the air.
Although Qing Zhui was wearing the Heavenly Gem Magic Garment, her calves and head were unprotected. This was the reason why Ning Tao had pushed her to the floor. He did not want to see her in the least hurt.
Qing Zhui only glanced at Ning Tao, her dark eyes full of gratitude and love. She said nothing, but the expression in her eyes was enough to signify everything.
A dozen seconds later, the shower of bullets stopped.
Ning Tao released Qing Zhui, and he launched himself on his tiptoes. His missile-like body hit the door plank which was already ridden with holes.
Crash!
The door plank shattered, as Ning Tao and the wooden splinters crashed against an armed militant guarding the door. In that instant, his Blade of the Solar Eclipse had already sliced the militant’s throat.
Blood spattered, and the militant whose throat was cut collapsed to the floor.
Pfft, pfft, pfft…
Before Ning Tao’s feet landed, countess bullets had hit his thighs, spine and the back of his head. But his Heavenly Gem Magic Garment had covered him from head to toes. Even his socks were woven from Heavenly Gem Cloth. There was not a loophole his enemy could exploit. He had Powerful Tolerance to Beating over this shower of bullets!
Whoosh!
A fan suddenly spun out through the broken door frame. An armed militant firing at Ning Tao against the wall had his neck suddenly severed. His head flew into the air.
The Unbreakable Fan!
After Ning Tao upgraded it using spiritual material alloy, its former plant fiber had turned into a spiritual material alloy surface. It could not only sever a man’s head, but also the gun turret of a tank!
The Unbreakable Fan circled once in the air and flew back into Qing Zhui’s grasp. She blocked her face with the fan. As bullets hit the fan surface, there were fiery sparks. Her left arm reached out and her snake claw penetrated the chest of an armed militant.
That armed militant was wearing a bulletproof vest, but it was as fragile as paper to Qing Zhui’s snake claws.
Qing Zhui’s claws twisted and she pulled backwards. She suddenly wrenched out a throbbing heart.
That armed militant stared horrified at his beating heart in Qing Zhui’s hand. One second later, he collapsed backwards.
The last armed militant no longer had the courage to fight. He turned and fled.
Ning Tao waved his right arm and the Blade of the Solar Eclipse flew into the air. When it finally stopped, it was already lodged in the back of the armed militant’s head. Only its hilt could be seen. He was wearing a bulletproof helmet and night thermographic camera. Neither of these two pieces of equipment could save his life.
These four militants were elite mercenaries of the Black Fire Company. Yet they were exterminated in a few seconds.
But the battle was not over yet.
Pfft!
A dull rifle shot.
From the Sword Pavilion Mountain came a bullet hitting Ning Tao’s chest, when he was just crawling up from the floor.
It was a bullet from a sniper rifle.
Ning Tao’s body suddenly flew up into the air.
Qing Zhui lunged and her arms grabbed Ning Tao’s waist, intercepting him.
That bullet fell to the floor, an emerald green bullet now deformed. It was clearly no ordinary bullet. A sniper rifle which could fire such a bullet was no ordinary sniper rifle too. It must be some remodeled technological magic tool!
The four mercenaries at the door were just sacrificial pawns. The real deadly assassin was that sniper hiding in the hillside.
But even so, Ning Tao still escaped unscathed. The Heavenly Gem Magic Garment was impervious to guns and knives, fire and water. It could also resist magic powers to a certain degree. Not even the Nine-Heavens Sword Array of Mount Emei could not harm him, let alone some remodeled rifle from the West.
Since weaving the Heavenly Gem Magic Garment, Ning Tao had not taken it off. No matter how fast he executed Ladder under Feet, it could only help him dodge bullets if he knew where the shooter was. He could not defend himself against ambushes. After all, those were bullets. Bullets from ordinary guns would travel at a speed of 300 to 500 meters per second. Out of a quality rifle, they could reach a speed of 1,000 meters per second. This remodeled technological magic tool was even more terrifying. It could fire bullets at a speed of several thousand meters per second. In that instant when they were fired, those bullets would have hit him. It was impossible to dodge them.
In the future, he might come up with more ways to protect himself against bullets, but at this stage, he could only rely on the Heavenly Gem Magic Garment.
With both feet hitting the ground, Qing Zhui released Ning Tao’s waist. Her figure streaked like wind towards that hillside where that sniper was hiding,
Ning Tao did not stop her, because his real opponent was upstairs.
Clap, clap, clap!
A crisp applause resounded from the rooftop.
Ning Tao leaped up, taking two steps in the air. When he stopped, he was already on the rooftop. His back was facing the hillside, and he did not fear at all that sniper who was firing at him. On the contrary, he even wished that sniper was firing at him. That way, Qing Zhui would be safe. It would also be easier for her to locate that sniper’s position.
There were two people on the edge of rooftop, one standing and the other lying down.
The person standing was a white man with short blond hair. The bridge of his nose was very high and his eyes were not blue like many white men’s, but demonized green. He was at least 2.3 meters tall. Ning Tao could not even reach his shoulders. Such a massive build gave his opponents a feeling of oppression. He was not only tall but very muscular. Although it was winter, he was only wearing a vest, showing off his bronzed muscles which were tough like steel.
The person lying down was Su Ya. She was injured. There was a horrific wound on her abdomen and blood was trickling out from it. She was already unconscious.
Ning Tao’s heart began to burn with anger, but the more critical the situation was, the calmer he became. His face was totally expressionless. He said in English, “I can let you go, so long as you stop hurting my friends.”
The white man snickered. “Do you know who I am? How dare you speak to me in this tone.”
Ning Tao had used his state of looking to diagnose Su Ya’s injuries. The result had made him nervous.
“You know what I want. Give it to me and I’ll leave. You will have time to treat your friend. Otherwise, she dies,” the white man said.
Ning Tao flicked his hand and opened the medicine box. Several Sacred Needles jumped from the needle bag into his hand. They seemed to have been attracted by a magnet. Once the Sacred Needles were in his hand, the small medicine chest shut with a click.
The eyes of the white man were locked on Ning Tao. He thought Ning Tao would take out some powerful weapon, but he saw nothing. From his perspective, the whole process seemed just like Ning Tao was merely opening a chest.
“You don’t seem to care about your friend’s life. You choose to fight. I am Acrisius, remember my name. When Satan asks you who killed you, you can tell him.” The voice of this white man was disdainful and extremely confident.
Ning Tao suddenly waved his hand and a Sacred Needle whizzed out.
Acrisius’s fists punched into the air and there was a tremor. A greenish demon aura encased his body like a flame.
But that Sacred Needle was not for him. It darted into Su Ya’s lower abdomen.
It was not a Sacred Needle to Nasty Diseases and did not carry with its evil energy, but a special kind of spiritual power. Su Ya’s condition was critical. Ning Tao did not dare delay for even a second. He could only use this method to stabilize her heart meridian.
Acrisius started a little, feeling that he had been mocked. He gave an angry roar and lifted a foot to trample on Su Ya’s head beside him.
His foot, if it had really trampled on Su Ya’s head, would be no different from a 20-kilogram sledgehammer thumping a watermelon.
In this extremely critical instant, a figure flew over from the ground, landing on Su Ya’s body.
Bam!
Acrisius ‘s heavy foot stepped on Ning Tao’s back.
Ning Tao propped his hands and feet against the rooftop, using his back to withstand that foot.
Thump!
In the dull trample that ensued, Ning Tao’s arms and legs were bending from the force. In that instant, his head hit the ground beside Su Ya. He freed his hands and embraced Su Ya, rolling away with her in his arms as he rebounded after his head hit the ground.
Acrisius’s heavy foot stamped heavily on the rooftop. The rooftop vibrated, as cracks appeared on the reinforced concrete!
