Chapter 410 Flying Sword
Ci’en had sent over the spiritual materials for fixing the flying sword. A whole box of them which included a piece of Star Iron. Now, he only needed the recipe to making the flying sword and he could somehow make his own flying sword.
Dawn arrived early in the basin. The setting sun had lit up the entire sky yet Mantou Mountain where Emei Sect was located at was already enveloped in darkness by the surrounding mountains.
In front of many bedrooms, a courtyard was packed with the nuns of Emei who were chattering non-stop. It was a lively scene.
“I heard that that doctor will be fixing the flying sword Pokong, the treasure of our Emei Sect, is it true?”
“Of course, we already knew it. How do you only know now? What have you been doing today?”
“Cutting firewood, splitting firewood, and fetching water… Oh, and I’ve also picked a basket of cucumbers. Do you think I am so free like you?”
“I have a broken hairpin. I wonder if he would be able to fix it?”
“Tonight’s sugared pumpkin was so delicious… If only more sugar were added. It would be even better…”
“When is he coming out? I really want to see flying sword Pokong.”
“What’s there to see of a sword? It would only count as spectacular if master rode on the flying sword to show us!”
“Yes, yes, yes, let’s ask Master to show us later!”
“This Senior Sister, don’t push me. You’ve stepped on my feet…”
This was what would happen when there were too many women. Their conversations would go from the origin of the universe to the taste of today’s dinner. Wildly imaginative and mysterious.
Inside the room, Ning Tao sat quietly on a stool, carefully caressing the sword.
This sword was the flying sword Pokong he had finished restoring.
There was not a flaw on the flying sword he had just fixed. It was shining, its blade incredibly sharp, spiritual energy encircling. Even though he had not seen Pokong before it was broken, he was sure that the sword after it was fixed by the rotten broken tripod was more superior in all aspects.
Inserting a shred of spiritual energy, the flying sword chimed and its entirety shook, nearly cutting Ning Tao’s fingers off.
Ning Tao’s heart soared. “Could it be that I have the ability to control this sword?”
He stood up and the sword was thrust forward but there was a force of resistance from the sword. There was nothing in front of him but it felt like there was an invisible wall before him and he was piercing into that invisible wall with Pokong!
Ning Tao did not give up. He placed the flying sword on the ground then stood on it. He inserted a shred of spiritual power and the sword chimed and trembled. A force instantly threw him off the sword.
This outcome discouraged him. Even though he had fixed it personally, he could not use it normally. The more powerful an ordinary practitioner’s magic tool was, the harder it would be for him to control. He was still able to use a low-level magic tool like Unbreakable Fan to shield himself from bullets and Soil-seeking Inkstone to look for soil, but this flying sword was harder to use than normal swords.
“It seems like I would need to make my own if I wanted a flying sword. I wonder which level the Sky Clinic would have to reach in order to give me a flying sword?” Ning Tao was full of yearning.
At this point, the sound of a woman’s scolding came from outside, “Are you all so free? What are you doing crowding around here? Go do what you need to!”
It was Ci’en’s voice.
A group of nuns was dismissed but none had walked too far and stood watching from afar.
Reverend Miexin had also arrived. She stopped in front of the door and in that instant, she seemed to have felt something. Shock suddenly appeared on her calm face, “Flying sword Pokong!”
The door to the room opened. Ning Tao walked out from it with Pokong in his hands.
Everyone’s eyes were on Pokong. Each and every pair of eyes were widened in surprise.
The flying sword had been damaged for centuries and now it was in one piece in Ning Tao’s hands!
Before Ning Tao could speak, Reverend Miexin had instantly reached out.
Ding!
The flying sword chimed and trembled in Ning Tao’s hands, immediately flying into Reverend Miexin’s hands.
Shoosh shoosh shoosh!
Reverend Miexin danced with the sword and aura of the sword shone in the air. Wherever the aura touched, walls cracked and roofs broke. Even Ci’en and those nine nuns had hurriedly shunned out of the way!
After a blinding sword performance, Reverend Miexin suddenly threw the flying sword into the air then jumped, both legs landing on the sword.
Whoosh!
The flying sword carried Reverend Miexin, flying into the air at a rapid speed. Even though it was not as fast as a bullet, it was definitely faster than an ordinary passenger plane.
The entire Emei Sect was cheering in increasing excitement.
Ning Tao looked up to the Reverend Miexin flying on the sword in the air. He was envious and the desire to make a flying sword of his own grew.
Before waiting for Reverend Miexin to return to the ground, Ning Tao looked away and carried his small medicine chest, heading to the exit. Having seen that Reverend Miexin had ridden on the flying sword, he no longer had any reason to stay.
Cixin chased behind him, appearing to be somewhat nervous. “Patron Ning, are you, you leaving?”
Ning Tao smiled. “The flying sword is already in the air. What other reason do I have to stay?”
Cixin was going to speak yet stopped.
Ning Tao said, “All good things must come to an end. We’ll meet again someday.”
Cixin bit her lips lightly then nodded. “Okay.”
Ning Tao nodded at Cixin in return then walked away in strides.
Cixin’s tiny mouth was agape as she watched Ning Tao’s back, seemingly wanting to bid farewell but did not say anything. Only a weak murmur escaped her mouth, “I just want to see you off…”
And she made a step forward.
“Hmph!” Ci’en stared at Cixin and huffed.
Cixin’s leg which was stepped forward was retracted once again and did not dare to look at Ning Tao.
Nobody saw Ning Tao off. He did not need it either.
As he left the mountains, Ning Tao ran toward the cliff where he came from. With Ladder under Feet, his speed was comparable to an off-road vehicle at its maximum acceleration speed.
Whoosh!
A sword shadow cut through the air then stopped at the cliff.
Pokong was suspending in mid-air. Carrying Reverend Miexin on it, it did not shake at all.
Ning Tao came to an abrupt stop, appearing to be slightly disturbed. He looked at Reverend Miexin and probed, “Reverend Miexin, I’ve already fixed the flying sword. What is the meaning of this?”
Reverend Miexin waved her hand and threw an object toward Ning Tao.
Ning Tao was stunned momentarily and caught the object.
That was his cell phone. If Reverend Miexin did not send it to him, he would have forgotten about it.
Reverend Miexin said, “I’m grateful for your help in fixing Pokong. You deserved that skull fragment. It’s up to you to deal with it but I have a word for you.”
Ning Tao became at ease. “Master, please speak.”
Reverend Miexin spoke after staying silent for a while, “In the future, if you’ve collected all of Zhu Hongyu’s skull fragments, please think carefully before making the Ancestor-seeking Elixir. If it really is an object of major omen and an elixir of mass destruction, please destroy it in time.”
Ning Tao nodded. “I promise you.”
Reverend Miexin looked at Ning Tao, her tone gentle, “Emei Sect will always welcome you. You can come whenever you would like to. That’s all. Goodbye.”
After that, Reverend Miexin gestured the Incredible Sword Finger and Pokong zoomed right toward the Mantou Mountain within the basin.
Ning Tao could not help but exclaim. “Cool!”
He had wanted such a flying sword, not to fly to places. The speed of traveling through convenient doors would always triumph flying on swords. He actually wanted a flying sword to experience the feeling of flying in the air and the enjoyment of cutting things up as easy as cutting vegetables during battles.
Until he could no longer see Reverend Miexin then did Ning Tao looked away. He came to the foot of Heaven-reaching Vine and climbed up. He climbed as he looked for a suitable spot to draw blood locks. He had left a blood lock in that room in Emei Sect but it was not secure after all, so he wanted to leave another one. This was also the reason why he had run so far. Otherwise, he would have opened the blood lock once he was out of Emei Sect and left. Reverend Miexin could not even have caught up with him.
Once he was halfway through the cliff, Ning Tao found a gap in the rock, big enough to fit him if he inserted himself laterally. He left the Heaven-reaching Vine and entered the gap. Breaking the flesh of his finger, he drew a blood lock then returned to the Sky Clinic through the blood lock.
The Sky Clinic was dead silent. Good and evil energy encircled inside the good-evil tripod. There was more evil than good. The clinic had taken 4,000 in good-evil rent this time and the tripod was left with over 8,000 in treatment fees. It seemed like it was a lot but the clinic would be upgrading next month and it would be gone in a month. Ever since he had killed Bai Sheng, Ning Tao had not felt the pressure of treatment fees, not until now.
He had originally intended to use 5,000 points to open an Elixirs & Equipment Store door, but with this situation now, he would not dare to open a storeroom door without a balance of at least 10,000 to 20,000 points.
The metal spiritual material from Emei Sect was still inside the box. It was very significant in amount, up to 50kg in weight. It would probably be enough to use these metal spiritual materials to make a flying sword. However, it was still just a thought at the moment.
Ning Tao moved that box of metal spiritual material to a corner then returned to the desk. From the small medicine chest, he took out that skull fragment and glanced over at the good-evil tripod subconsciously.
The good-evil tripod’s eyes were shut tight with no sign of waking up.
Ning Tao thought to himself, “I’ve used the ledger to identify the third version of Ancestor-seeking Elixir and it did not say that it was an object of omen and elixir of world destruction. And now I’ve brought Zhu Hongyu’s skull fragment back, the good-evil tripod doesn’t even have a bit of reaction. This means that the rumors are unreliable. Then who was the one who had been spreading these rumors?”
Centuries had gone past, whoever and whatever happened in 1637 had already been washed away by the stream of time. Who could really explain it with certainty?
He could not figure out no matter what so Ning Tao had given up. He copied the prescription on the skull fragment then put the skull fragment into the drawer of the desk. Even if it were just one piece, he had to put it inside the Sky Clinic. Regardless of Nicholas Conway or the powers of Genesis Biotech Company, nobody would dare to snatch the skull fragment away from him.
After he stored the skull fragment, Ning Tao began conducting an inventory check of his spiritual material in his storage.
On the skull fragment he got from Emei Sect recorded 18 types of spiritual materials. He only had three types and was still lacking 15.
Ning Tao was not surprised by this outcome. He then activated his phone and entered the Practitioners’ Club WeChat group and sent a message: “I’ve acquired a skull fragment from Emei Sect today. There is an ancient elixir prescription recorded on it. I wonder what elixir it would make. I’m still lacking a spiritual material, which of you have the latex of blood?”
Then it was followed by a bunch of messages.
However, the new elixir prescription did not have latex of blood at all. He had sent such a message just to announce that he had gotten that skull fragment from Emei Sect and spread this message through the practitioners in the group.
He would definitely deliver what he had promised.
After replying to a few messages, Ning Tao left the Sky Clinic. He wanted to see Hu Xiaoji.
Was what happened back then really like what Reverend Miexin had said?
When would the reincarnated Hu Xiaoji start recovering memories of her past life?
