Chapter 43: Preparing To Please Everyone
Who was Tang Jianjun again?
He was a high-ranking official!
Countless people had requested help from him but he never paid any attention to them. He held onto this belief of his very strongly and would never soften his heart to help others. Tang Jianjun’s relatives found it difficult to ask him for help as well.
Yang Dingguo recalled his company’s financial crisis ten years ago. He wanted to apply for a loan with a bank to make it through the financial crisis but to no avail after multiple negotiation attempts with the person in charge. He then heard that his brother-in-law, Tang Jianjun was friends with the deputy manager of Jiannan Bank, so Yang Dingguo asked him for help multiple times but was rejected. He ultimately succeeded when his sister begged Tang Jianjun. It was then he knew that his brother-in-law held onto his belief very strongly and would not dare to seek help from him.
Never in his dreams would he expect that Ye Xiong had gotten a promise from Yang Dingguo with just a bottle of Maotai.
“Thank you, uncle. Xinyi and I will visit you in the capital when we’re free.”
Ye Xiong took out a second package and passed it to Yang Yueru.
“Lil Xiong, you’ve given your uncle an incredibly expensive gift. Your gift to me must be of equal value, right?”
Yang Yueru took the gift and opened it up. Disappointment could be seen in her eyes as she had a look at it.
“Ye Xiong, the gift you’ve given to your uncle cost a few hundred thousand bucks and my gift costs only a few thousand bucks. You’re way too biased!” Yang Yueru acted displeased.
“A few hundred thousand bucks?” Yang Xinyi was shocked when she heard it.
She thought that the liquor fetched a high price since it was able to make her uncle happy. Who would have thought that it would be so expensive? How did Ye Xiong find the money to buy such a thing?
“This liquor is meant for collectors and one might not be able to get it even with a few hundred thousand! It’s often sold out in the market.” Yang Yueru 1 explained.
Yang Xinyi gave Ye Xiong a complicated look as she finally understood why he kept asking about her uncle and aunt’s hobby on the way home. He was preparing to please everyone.
This guy had put quite some effort into it. If she guessed correctly, he must have gifted her aunt a cosmetic product.
Yang Xinyi was right. Yang Yueru took an imported branded cosmetic product out of the package. It was the type that would cost thousands of dollars.
“Lil Aunt, take a closer look and see if it’s different from the one you know.” Ye Xiong smiled.
Yang Yueru screamed in shock afterward. “Is this the one that’s personally signed by the infamous singer, Qiao Ni?”
This cosmetic product was endorsed by Qiao Ni. Rumor had it that Qiao Ni had signed only a few dozens of them when she was promoting it. She did not expect Ye Xiong to be able to get his hands on such a rare item.
Yang Xinyi had no choice but to be impressed with this man.
Ye Xiong then handed over gifts to Tang Ning and Yang Xinyi’s mother Zhao Lizhen. It was all the items they loved and they were incredibly delighted.
Yang Dingguo’s face became darker and darker. Everyone else had gotten their gifts except for him. Ye Xiong must have taken it to heart and was trying to embarrass him on purpose. This made Yang Dingguo incredibly unhappy.
Who would have thought this would happen when he tried to embarrass Ye Xiong earlier?
“Father, this is your gift.” Ye Xiong handed over the last gift just as Yang Dingguo believed that Ye Xiong would try and embarrass him.
He opened up the box and was incredibly delighted. It was an ivory Chinese chess set. However, he coughed and acted nothing happened as he put away the gift.
“Father, I’m sorry about earlier. I was rude to you. I’ll definitely change this behavior of mine in the future.” Ye Xiong laughed as he spoke kindly.
“Look at your son-in-law and compare yourself to him. You’re so old already and yet you’re not as forgiving as he is. I really don’t understand how you’ve managed to stay afloat in society for the past two decades.” Tang Jianjun who had been quiet all these while opened his mouth.
Yang Dingguo would never accept it if the others scolded him. However, he never dared to refute when it came to his sister and his brother-in-law.
They enjoyed the delightful dinner together.
“Dear, here, have a piece of meat.” Ye Xiong placed a piece of chicken into Yang Xinyi’s bowl.
Yang Xinyi look disgusted all of a sudden. This b*stard knew that she hated consuming other people’s saliva the most and yet he still used his own chopsticks to pass the food to her. Was this not an obvious ploy to embarrass her?
Just as she was about to throw the meat away, Ye Xiong came closer to her ears.
“I’ve done my part. Don’t blame me if things are exposed!” Ye Xiong smiled.
If she were to throw away the chicken meat, her father, mother, uncle, and aunt would definitely suspect something was wrong. Hence, Yang Xinyi gritted her teeth and forced herself to eat the meat.
“Come, have more of them.” Ye Xiong ignored Yang Xinyi’s gaze filled with murderous intent as he passed another piece of chicken to her.
Germaphobia was a pathological fear that could be treated.
Upon further discussion after the meal, the family had decided to stay in the house.
Yang Xinyi was the only one living in her mansion whereas her parents were living in the mansion beside hers. Now that her aunt and uncle had decided to stay for the night, this made Yang Xinyi rather concerned.
That was because she had to sleep in the same room with Ye Xiong in order to avoid raising any suspicion from Lil Aunt.
She could not let her guard down when it came to Ye Xiong and could tell when Ye Xiong kept trying to persuade her aunt and uncle to stay the night.
“Dear, what’s on your mind?” Ye Xiong asked as he drove the car.
“Don’t you dare think that I’ve no idea what you’re planning. Even if we’re sleeping in the same room tonight, I’ll kill you if you dare to touch me.” Yang Xinyi threatened.
“Dear, am I that kind of person?” Ye Xiong asked in a serious tone. “I’d even poured out my soul and body to put up on this act. If you become horny and push me down to the ground tonight, won’t my innocence be ruined for the rest of my life?”
“F*ck off!”
As Yang Xinyi finished scolding him, she became serious all of a sudden and said, “Let me know how much the gifts were tonight. I’ll pay you tomorrow.”
“There’s no need for that. I’ll bear the cost. I’m your husband after all,” Ye Xiong said.
“We’re talking about a few hundred thousand bucks here. It’s not a small figure. I have to return it to you.” Yang Xinyi’s face looked rather insistent. Furthermore, she did not want to owe any favor to Ye Xiong.
“Fine. I have to return this money to someone anyway.”
“Who did you borrow this money from?”
“Sister Hua.”
Ye Xiong had disappeared for two hours in the afternoon after he finished talking to Yang Xinyi. It was during that time that he had borrowed one million bucks from Du Yuehua and bought the gifts.
“She’s really nice to you. She’s willing to lend you one million bucks that easily.” Yang Xinyi was in disbelief.
“Dear, are you jealous?” Ye Xiong giggled.
Yang Xinyi was not angry towards his teasing this time around. Instead, she looked at him sincerely and said, “Ye Xiong, I’ve been interacting with you for some time now. I realize that you’re not a useless person. You’re capable, ambitious, and not all talks. You’re clearly an amazing person, but why do you want to become a site worker? It’s clear that you can be normal, why do you have to be so cruel and fool around with your life. Nobody will like you if you keep this act up. Your admirer will be greatly hurt by you even if you do have one. Have you ever considered the feelings of the people that love you?”
This was the first time Yang Xinyi spoke her mind to Ye Xiong.
She was incredibly impressed by Ye Xiong’s performance and decided to speak up because she was able to maintain her image that night.
Yang Xinyi would have ignored him a long time ago if it was in the past.
Ye Xiong looked at her and realized that she was looking at him sincerely. That gaze of hers at that moment was different from back then.
It seemed that his wife had changed her impression of him.
“Dear, I’ve got good news for you,” Ye Xiong said very seriously and looked at her beautiful face, “I think you might have fallen for me for real. That’s because you didn’t vomit from the food I’ve given you tonight.”
…
