Chapter 27
Double X, the Xie family’s territory.
Lu Yunge looked meaningfully at her, “Can we not go to this art exhibition?”
Lu Haiqiao said decisively, “Have to go.”
For the sake of the three paintings, she would even venture into a dragon’s lair or a tiger’s den if needed.
“Then wait for me for a moment.” With that, he adjusted the steering wheel at the upcoming intersection and turned around.
…
An hour and a half later, the fiery red sports car pulled up at the entrance of the Double X Art Center.
Lu Haiqiao, elegantly dressed in a champagne-colored gown, walked arm in arm-with Lu Yunge into the venue.
Lu Yunge, who had changed out of his casual attire, was now clad in a pure white tailored suit. He didn’t wear a tie, and the collar of his black shirt underneath was intentionally left open with two buttons undone. Two T-brand Smile series necklaces, one long and one short, hung around his neck, revealing half of his collarbone, subtly highlighting his carefree and rebellious style.
When the car turned around at the intersection just now, it was to go to the styling studio that Lu Haiqiao had visited earlier to pick out clothes.
The stunning combination of a handsome man and a beautiful woman quickly attracted attention.
As they walked through the venue, with envious glances from others, she slightly tilted her head and asked in a hushed tone, “Hey, you weren’t interested in the art exhibition, so why did you bother changing your outfit and accompanying me?”
This exceptionally good-looking pair of cousins made their way through the long corridor adorned with a red carpet, arriving at the innermost art exhibition hall.
It was evident that the organizers had put a lot of thought into the event.
The entire hall was predominantly decorated in white. In the center, there were square white marble tables neatly arranged. Traditional Chinese ink paintings with black wooden frames and calligraphy with brush strokes adorned the walls, creating an atmosphere of elegance.
In addition, transparent protective panels were placed in front of all the exhibited artworks. Warm yellow lighting shone on the paintings, enhancing the overall visual experience.
Lu Yunge surveyed the exhibition hall before responding to her question, “I wasn’t planning to come, but since it’s organized by the Xie family, and you insisted on coming, I had no choice but to accompany you.”
Lu Haiqiao: “???”
What kind of logic is that?
After pondering for a moment, she grasped the key point and asked, “The Xie family is related to you?”
Lu Yunge raised an eyebrow and replied, “Of course, it’s related. Our investor is from the Xie family.”
Lu Haiqiao immediately corrected him, “Not ‘ours’, it’s yours. This so-called benefactor is yours alone, don’t drag me into it.”
The so-called ‘investor’ referred to the biggest sponsor of F country’s ‘Phantom’ team.
Lu Yunge, on the other hand, was the team’s manager and responsible for its operations.
Although he loved cars, he never participated in official races. His sole life goal was to nurture a racing superstar.
A driver who would be revered by all.
Considering his achievements a few years ago, it seemed like he had already achieved that goal. However, given the current circumstances, it appeared that the goal had eluded him again.
He looked meaningfully at Lu Haiqiao and, after a moment, coaxed, “Alright, alright, consider it a slip of the tongue. Tell me which painting caught your eye today, and I’ll buy it for you.
With that, he pointed to a prominent landscape painting hanging on the wall. “How about that one? It seems to have caught the interest of many.”
She had already noticed that painting.
It was a masterpiece titled ‘High Mountains and Lofty Peaks’ by the renowned landscape artist, Wu Sancai.
She glanced briefly at the painting and then withdrew her gaze.
“Just because everyone says it’s good doesn’t necessarily mean it’s truly good,” she remarked.
