Chapter 601: Episode 014: Mu Cidian, how much is your appearance fee? (Second update)
Thereafter, they didn’t have much interactions anymore.
As long as Xin Zaozao didn’t frequent the night scene, they wouldn’t typically meet.
In fact, even when Xin Zaozao did show up at the night scene, many times, they didn’t bump into each other.
There were so many people in the world, it wasn’t really that easy to meet each other.
In the blink of an eye, three months had passed since his release from jail.
Mu Cidian had paid back the over ninety thousand that her mother owed.
Yes.
One week after the eco-park project commenced, Xin Zaozao transferred the money into his account. She was very capable and efficient in her work.
The hand which received the money had let her mother repay her debt.
Wan Quan was clearly surprised.
She wondered how Mu Cidian had managed to earn ten thousand so quickly.
Mu Cidian only mentioned that it was a bonus for a contract he had completed for the company.
Wan Quan believed him.
In Wan Quan’s eyes, there was no doubt about her son’s capabilities.
Having repaid the debt, Mu Cidian often gave Wan Quan money. He asked her to groom herself and lead a slightly better life. He promised to provide her with a more comfortable life in the future.
Wan Quan didn’t question it. Her life had slightly improved and she felt happier.
That night.
Mu Cidian worked the night shift.
The shift lasted from 10pm to 4am.
Actually, after 2am, the crowd would thin out considerably.
Only a few customers lingered in private rooms.
Majority of the people began to leave.
The private room that Mu Cidian was in charge of was already empty.
He started to clean up the empty liquor bottles left by the guests, putting each one into a basket.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open.
Mu turned his head.
A woman rushed into the private room’s toilet, clutching her throat, and began to heave violently.
Mu Cidian watched for a while before resuming the cleanup of the glasses.
The woman inside vomited for a long while.
Finally, she came out after rinsing her mouth.
As she emerged, she saw Mu Cidian with a basket full of bottles, about to leave as well.
The two crossed paths.
Xin Zaozao’s gaze faltered before she turned and walked away.
Mu Cidian went back to his work.
Xin Zaozao took a deep breath and returned to the private room.
It was a lot livelier tonight than usual in the private room.
Ever since Lina returned to Yanshang Country, she often invited Xin Zaozao out. Xin Zaozao, needing to maintain her business relationship with the multinational corporation Lina worked for, couldn’t keep refusing. Tonight, Lina’s overseas friends came to visit, so naturally, Xin Zaozao had to show them a good time. The night was filled with wild fun.
Foreign women were very open and uninhibited.
Together with Xin Zaozao, five women had requested ten escorts.
Each woman was attended by two escorts. Inside the room… everything was in chaos.
“Where’d you go?” A foreigner grumbled in English, “You’ve been disappearing all night. It’s a real drag. Lina, this isn’t how you described your little friend.”
“Zaozao, come on. Show them the elegance of a Yanshang Country woman.” Lina pushed a large glass of liquor towards her.
Xin Zaozao had definitely overdone it.
They cheered when she chugged down the liquor in one shot.
Xin Zaozao knew that if she kept drinking this way, she would definitely get drunk.
Luckily, not long after,
Two women who had been teased beyond bearing suggested, “Why don’t we continue drinking tomorrow? If this keeps up, we won’t have a chance to taste what Yanshang Country’s escorts have to offer.”
“You lustful women…” Lina joked, “Okay, let’s go. It’s getting late.”
Xin Zaozao secretly heaved a sigh of relief.
Xin Zaozao asked the waiter to settle the bill.
The group of women, supported by many escorts, left the private room.
Xin Zaozao saw each of them off in turn.
Lina was the last to leave. Just before she walked out the door, she whispered in Xin Zaozao’s ear, “Enjoy tonight. This is a special present my friend brought from abroad, specially designated as your welcome gift!”
Xin Zaozao blinked in surprise.
“It takes thirty minutes to kick in,” Lina said, grinning triumphantly.
Then she left with two escorts.
Xin Zaozao stared in the direction of their departure.
So, there was something wrong with that last cup of liquor…
She hadn’t thought much of it because she frequently partied with Lina and she believed that Lina wouldn’t do that to her.
“Miss Xin, let us escort you home,” the two escorts lingering beside Xin Zaozao said, eager to leave.
A woman like her was highly cherished by escorts.
She was generous and beautiful.
That made a big difference when compared to the older women they usually had to serve.
“No need.” Xin Zaozao took her wallet out of her bag, “You two may leave.”
“Miss Xin, are you dissatisfied with us? Lina mentioned when you stepped out that she had spiked your drink with something special. If tonight… if nothing happens… she asked us to take care of you,” the escorts hurriedly explained.
“I know.” Xin Zaozao still rejected their offer, “Arrange a car for me.”
“Alright.” As escorts, they couldn’t force the client.
They arranged transportation for Xin Zaozao.
The moment that Xin Zaozao was about to get into the car,
She felt a wave of nausea.
She rushed to the side and vomited.
Afterwards, she threw up again without pause.
It seemed like she really had drunk too much tonight.
The two escorts stayed with her, gently supporting her.
Xin Zaozao guessed that maybe if she threw up, it would dilute the drug in her system.
So, she continued to force herself to vomit for a while longer.
The escorts were very attentive. One of them went inside to get a cup of hot water.
Having just finished cleaning up the private room, Mu Cidian was waiting for orders in the hall.
Upon hearing the request, he immediately brought out a hot cup of water.
The escort that had ordered the water took the cup from Mu Cidian and handed it to Xin Zaozao, “Rinse your mouth with this. It will help you feel better.”
Xin Zaozao took it and rinsed her mouth, “Bring me another cup.”
Mu Cidian was instructed to pour another cup.
Xin Zaozao felt like she had thrown up enough. She took the cup of water and rinsed her mouth again.
Then she stood.
The moment she stood up, she fell over.
She wasn’t sure if it was because she’d been squatting for too long and felt dizzy, or if the drug was starting to take effect.
The two escorts quickly caught her, “Miss Xin, let us take you home.”
Xin Zaozao endured for a moment. She vaguely perceived that in addition to the two escorts there was another person nearby. She reached out and grabbed onto the clothes of the person beside her, “You take me home.”
The escorts stared at Mu Cidian.
Xin Zaozao was aware that the escorts certainly had intentions for her and she might not necessarily decline. But service personnel didn’t dare cross the line.
Given her current state, she couldn’t find her way home alone either.
“Hurry up!” she said.
Mu Cidian moved towards her to hold her up.
How gently Xin Zaozao was resting on him.
The two cowboys seemed slightly annoyed, but at that moment, there was nothing more they could do. “Take good care of Miss Xin, and behave!”
A warning against crossing any lines.
“Hmm.” Mu Cidian responded.
With Xin Zaozao in his support, they moved towards a car that had been parked close by.
Once Xin Zaozao was seated, she rested against the back seat, her eyes staring out of the window, feeling dizzy.
Mu Cidian sat next to her, sensing the quickened pace of her breath, as if she was burning up.
Being in the nightlife scene for so long, he could guess what Xin Zaozao was suffering.
The car quickly reached Xin Zaozao’s apartment.
Xin Zaozao continued to lean on Mu Cidian for support.
Both remained silent.
Mu Cidian speculated that given Xin Zaozao’s condition, she was likely unaware of his actual identity.
Otherwise, she would not have asked him to accompany her home.
Though initially, Xin Zaozao didn’t recognize him, she did understand who he was now.
Despite knowing now, she acted unknowing, as she genuinely needed support. Her legs felt weak.
Mu Cidian helped Xin Zaozao to her door.
Upon entering her room, Xin Zaozao immediately pushed Mu Cidian away, uttering, “You can leave now,” before rapidly staggering into the room.
Soon after, the heart-wrenching sound of vomiting could be heard.
Mu Cidian lingered at the entrance for a moment.
He glanced around, scanning the spacious room. It seemed there was no one else there.
So Song Lifei wasn’t here?
It would have been better for Xin Zaozao to have someone around in her state.
Moving his gaze away, he picked up his phone. Based purely on memory, he recalled Song Lifei’s number.
He placed the call through.
The call was picked up immediately, “Hello?”
“Song Lifei, it’s Mu Cidian.”
“Finally willing to call me, are you?” Laughter echoed from the other end.
“Where are you?”
“I am currently overseas on a business trip, and will return in three days. I will see you then.”
Mu Cidian was silent for a few seconds.
“Is there an emergency?” Song Lifei asked.
“No, nothing in particular. I will hang up now,” Mu Cidian replied.
He then abruptly ended the call.
Given the distance, even by plane, it was too late for him to make it back.
Setting down his phone, he could still hear Xin Zaozao’s heartbreaking cries.
But they should be able to… pull through.
He recalled that night when Xin Zaozao was drugged and forced into a situation. However, she was able to hold on with sheer determination. She should do so tonight as well.
He turned to leave.
Suddenly, a loud crashing sound emerged from the room.
Mu Cidian halted in his tracks.
Without hesitation, he rushed inside.
In the bedroom, Xin Zaozao, drenched from head to toe, had collapsed onto the floor.
The water from the shower head above her was cold, as if she was trying to ease her inner desires.
He quickly lifted her up.
Feeling the presence of another person, despite being soaked and shivering, Xin Zaozao’s eyes, flushed and red, stared directly at Mu Cidian.
Mu Cidian felt uneasy under Xin Zaozao’s intense gaze.
He said, “Shall I help you to the bed?”
“Let go of me.” Xin Zaozao did not answer him but asked him to distance himself.
Mu Cidian complied and released her.
The moment she let go, Xin Zaozao felt a terrible emptiness, as if gnawed by thousand ants. The straw she was clinging onto so desperately, hoping it would drive the ants away, had just disappeared.
She watched Mu Cidian standing up from the floor.
Without uttering a word, he turned and walked away.
Xin Zaozao simply watched his retreating figure, as he left…
Her chest felt as if it were burning, as her consciousness was being overpowered by her inner desires.
Suddenly, she pushed herself off the floor.
She called out, “Mu Cidian!”
Mu Cidian turned around.
The moment he turned his head, Xin Zaozao ran into his arms
The force was tremendous.
Mu Cidian, being thin, was knocked to the floor by the impact. Xin Zaozao landed on top of him. He saw her, grabbing his clothes, frantically tugging, biting towards his body…
The night fell.
A night that was completely unlike any other night.
The event unfolded.
The entire process felt lengthy, yet fleeting at the same time.
Dawn arrived.
Mu Cidian rose.
Apparently, even men can be pushed to their limits in such situations.
Now, sitting upright, his whole body was trembling.
He pulled back the blanket.
Xin Zaozao was still asleep.
She seemed sound asleep.
Mu Cidian left the room. As he prepared to leave, he noticed the open kitchen nearby.
He thought for a moment, and then proceeded to make some porridge in the kitchen.
While watching the porridge.
Xin Zaozao woke up.
Clad in a bathrobe, she watched Mu Cidian, seemingly disbelieving what she was seeing.
Mu Cidian could feel her gaze.
If it weren’t for her calling his name, “Mu Cidian,” last night
He might have really believed she had no idea who he was
It was because of these three words that he chose to stay.
But clearly,
Once clarity returned, there was still disgust.
Perhaps she was regretting it profoundly.
He cracked no expression, serving a bowl of cucumber porridge on the nearby dining table, “It aids in sobering up.”
Xin Zaozao glanced at the cucumber porridge, then at Mu Cidian.
She asked, “How much is your service fee?”
Mu Cidian’s gaze flinched.
So
She intended to send him off with money.
