Chapter 284: Chapter 284 Mysterious Inn

The bullets of a sniper rifle are quite special, and they’re manufactured differently depending on their purpose.
For instance, there are bullets specifically intended for assassinating living beings, which are, in essence, ordinary sniper bullets. There are also explosive bullets that can explode, incendiary bullets that can ignite edifices and buildings, and so forth.
Li Yao’s sniper rifle has an extravagant design, resembling a long-necked dragon. The rifle barrel represents the dragon’s neck, and the two legs of the dragon are the gun’s bipod. The large caliber sniper rifle is about 2 yards in length. The muzzle represents the gaping mouth of a long-necked dragon.
Crucially, it’s incredibly heavy. When Li Yao tried to shoot without using the bipod, he lost over 300 health and was knocked back, showcasing its immense recoil and lethality.
Obviously, it can’t be used as a standard weapon. If you’re using a sniper rifle, you’re basically giving up all mobility, but mobility is what Li Yao values the most.
He logged out to tidy up a bit, then logged back in once in-game daylight broke.
His team, including his teammates Fruit Angel and others, had already left the guild headquarters.
“Are you sure you don’t need our help?” Guardian Angel asked, “If they don’t want to join, that’s their call, but if you include me, I’m pretty hard to kill as of now.”
“Hard to kill? While I like to refer to your class as the ‘punching-bag cleric,’ understand this—you’re far from being unkillable,” Li Yao shook his head and replied.
“Is that supposed to be a challenge? You didn’t get the chance to witness how cool I was, galloping in and out of the crowds, the thrill!” Guardian Angel crowed triumphantly.
“Though Uncle Witty likes to brag, he is indeed very powerful,” Dazed Pupil chimed in.
“See, even the little kid thinks I’m great,” Guardian Angel smugly jumped to a conclusion, “You’re just jealous, aren’t you?”
Li Yao rolled his eyes and replied, “You’re already prancing around even though you’re still far from mastering your class. It seems like I need to teach you a lesson and show you that you’re not as strong as you imagine.”
“Then let’s battle. I want to see if you can kill me. I don’t believe it.” Guardian Knight threw down the gauntlet.
The others immediately surrounded them, wearing mischievous grins, obviously looking forward to the show.
Accepting the challenge, Li Yao pulled out his sniper rifle and loaded it with a regular sniper bullet.
“I won’t take advantage of you. You’re using a sniper rifle, you can stand as far back as 200 yards,” Guardian Angel immediately activated his Immovable Barrier, trapping himself inside a golden light shield.
“No need,” Li Yao promptly raised his sniper rifle.
“Damn it, you’re too close! How am I supposed to dodge the bullet?” Guardian Angel suddenly felt a surge of fear.
“You couldn’t have dodged it at any distance anyway. To me, your class is as slow as a tortoise. If even you could dodge my bullet, I might as well quit,” Li Yao said confidently.
“Fine! Come on then, I won’t dodge it, let’s see if your bullet can finish me in one shot,” Guardian Angel grumbled exasperatedly.
“Alright, I’m firing,” As he spoke, Li Yao’s finger pressed the trigger.
Bang….
After Li Yao fired, his body was jolted back, and his health dropped by another 300.
The group then heard a ‘thump’ sound, and upon looking at Guardian Angel, they saw his head explode abruptly, before quickly regenerating.
Everyone clearly witnessed a bullet hole formed in his golden shield, thereafter, the shield was completely shattered.
Guardian Angel ended up kneeling on one knee with the Duel Flag floating between them indicating that the duel was over.
“Well, do you want to continue the comparison?” Li Yao put away the sniper rifle and asked with a smile.
“Continue, my ass! How am I supposed to compete with that, are you even human, madman!” Guardian Angel grumbled as he stood up.
“It was you who got overconfident, acting like you’re the king of the world,” Da Vinci replied with sarcasm.
Dazed Pupil took another jab, “Oh my, it seems like Big Brother didn’t even use any of his skills…wait a minute, he didn’t use pets or arrow towers either. That does not count! You guys should have another match.”
“Good idea. How about Uncle Witty not using any skills while fighting against your pet in the next round, Guardian Knight?” Da Vinci looked at Guardian Knight, a teasing expression on his face.
“Me against his hydra…” Guardian Angel felt frustrated, he obviously knew there was no need to fight, considering the hydra could instantly kill him.
“Idiot.” Fruit Knight commented tersely.
“Alright, at least you’ve learned your lesson this time. Go do your thing,” Li Yao waved his hand and directed.
“What?” Guardian Knight deflated, “You guys aren’t taking me with you?”
“Do you think it’s suitable for you, a man, to accompany a group of women?” Feng Yi joked.
“A perfect match, absolutely…” Guardian Knight had barely gotten the words out when he saw Fruit Knight giving him a death glare, and quickly said, “Cough, alright then, Mu Zi and the rest have invited me to go fight a boss anyway. I’ll be leaving.”
“I’ll set off too,” Li Yao said as he activated the passive effect of the Dark Ranger.
Thanks to the enhancement from Mysterious Eye, Li Yao’s stealth ability was almost on par with a rogue’s.
Li Yao arrived at the flight manager and rented a bat to fly away.
He didn’t go far, but to a small town near Undercity.
There were also quite a few players here, with adjacent leveling points for level 10 players. Li Yao put on his cloak, pulling the hood down, and coupled with the Dark Ranger’s passive dark haze, his face was completely blurred, unidentifiable to all.
He made some sharp turns before finally arriving at a quiet inn on the outskirts of the town. The inn was old but clean.
But during the game time of the day, there were hardly any guests, making it very quiet.
Upon seeing Li Yao enter, the undead landlady behind the bar greeted him cheerfully, “Welcome, dear guest. What can I get you?”
“I would like the most unpalatable apple cider you have, if you have it.” As Li Yao spoke, he flicked three silver coins onto the bar counter, arranging them in a triangle.
The landlady put away her professional smile, snatched the three silver coins and said, “We do have that, of course, we do. Your taste is quite unique, but we won’t let you down.”
The landlady nodded and took Li Yao to the kitchen behind the bar. Then she led him into a basement cellar underneath the kitchen.
Being a standard feature of human-built inns, kitchens always have cellars underneath to store ingredients and fine wines, typically with two levels underground.
At the first basement level, behind the large wine barrels, there was a dark portal. If one wasn’t looking carefully, it would simply blend into the dark corner unnoticed.
The landlady gestured for Li Yao to enter. Once he flicked out three more silver coins, she left with a satisfied grin.
Stepping into the portal, Li Yao felt like he was crossing through a light curtain. Indeed, the portal was a small teleportation gate, and he was no longer at the inn.
Li Yao appeared in a dimly lit room. A few thieves who were chatting glanced at him briefly. The thief in the middle frowned, “Such a weakling, to think he could find his way here. Did he wander in by mistake?”
“Boss, should I kill him?” a level 40 rogue at the edge of the group prepared to slip into stealth…
