Chapter 25: Killed Someone

The sky gradually became bright.
The lounge on the set was still extremely dark as it did not have any windows. One could only tell that it was already daylight from the light that seeped through the gap at the bottom of the door and the sound of footsteps outside.
Gu Anbao sat in the room with nothing to do.
However, she would rather continue to sit around with nothing to do than to be… some substitute actress…
It was lively outside. She could hear the staff members working non-stop. When it was noon, which was probably time for lunch, she could hear many voices mingling together, the chitter-chatter making the atmosphere even livelier.
She could hear footsteps near the lounge and stop right outside. The clicking sounds of the door could be heard as a hand tried to turn the doorknob.
Gu Anbao stared incredulously at the tightly shut door.
Since this lounge belonged exclusively to Shen Xinran, no one should be entering if she wasn’t inside.
The person outside the lounge twisted the doorknob a few more times. Realizing that it was locked, they took out a spare key and stuck it into the keyhole.
A ray of light flooded the room.
Gu Anbao stared nervously at the two staff members standing by the door. Could it be… that they needed to shoot another scene with snakes?…
The two people seemed to have been sent over at the last moment, as one of them was still holding a plastic bag containing a lunch box.
The staff looked at Gu Anbao, who was sitting on the couch, before clapping her hands and shouting, “Let’s go, let’s go. Follow us to change into your outfit.”
Change outfit?… But, weren’t there no scenes that involved her today?
Could the director have added more scenes again?…
Gu Anbao complied and stood up, following after them through a long twisted hallway into another lounge.
The staff knocked on the door and announced, “Director, the robot is here.”
After a while, the person inside the room opened the door.
A middle-aged man with beard stubble and a half-lit cigarette between his fingers stood in front of them. He glanced at the robot standing behind them and said nonchalantly, “Alright, you all can go ahead and have your meal now.”
Gu Anbao recognized him as Director Xu, the director who had taught her how to act yesterday.
The two staff members greeted him before walking away. Waving his hand at Gu Anbao, the director said, “Come in.”
Unable to make head nor tail of it, Gu Anbao walked into the room. The curtains shielded the sunlight, leaving only a small desk lamp to dimly light the room. The table was cluttered with a variety of things. Scripts, wine glasses, a wine bottle, ashtray…
Didn’t they say… that they were going to take her to change into her costume?
The man behind her closed the door and walked to the side of the table, grinding his cigarette into the ashtray.
Robots couldn’t smell, but Gu Anbao could guess that the room must be heavy with the smell of thick smoke and alcohol…
Leaning against the table, the man sized her up from head to toe. His gaze eventually stopped on her bosom. His lips curving into a smile as if he had just seen something extremely interesting to him.
Gu Anbao felt very uncomfortable with the other party’s gaze… her body unconsciously shrunk back.
However, he had begun to walk over to her. He reached out and grabbed onto her breast, kneading on it harshly!
Gu Anbao nearly screamed from shock! She smacked the hand away! Protecting her bosom, she staggered back a few steps!
The man’s face was one of astonishment. “It’s different from the Ghana Fly company’s SOF11…” He muttered.
He smiled to himself once again. “Perhaps this is even more interesting…”
Gu Anbao faintly came to a realization. She stared at the man before her in disbelief, her mind in a total mess! She could only try to explain herself incoherently, “Not… I am not that kind… I’m not…”
The other party did not plan to listen to her explanation. Under the dim light, she could only see the dark silhouette of his hand as he reached out toward her. He grabbed her arm and pulled harshly, instantly flipping her onto the table!
Bam! Her body knocked against the desk as the entire top half of her body fell flat on the surface!
The desk lamp toppled to its side, it’s light glaring into his eyes. The scripts were scattered on the floor and the wine glasses were smashed to pieces. The wine bottle rolled to the corner of the table, releasing a stream of red wine, drenching the table completely…
She tried to get up in a panic, but was pinned down! The man’s entire weight was pressed against her body, leaving her unable to move an inch. In the next instant, her skirt was pulled to her back and a huge hand snuck in! He tore her undergarment, before inching downward and pulling at her underwear!
Gu Anbao was terrified! Her left hand managed to blindly grab onto something, causing her to swing it harshly as she flipped her body around!
The pressure on her body instantly lifted…
All she saw next was the man sliding down the table… to the floor, lying down paralyzed and unconscious.
Frightened, Gu Anbao stared at the ashtray in her hand. One of the corners was stained with blood…
…. Was he dead?
Had she just… killed someone?
Her mind was a complete blank as if her thoughts had been frozen. She stood rooted to the spot dumbly, unable to move.
“Dong…”
The ashtray in her hand fell to the floor, causing a dull and heavy sound.
Gu Anbao was shaken awake.
Fully aware that the person on the floor right now could probably be dead, she hurriedly retreated till her back was against the wall and she was unable to move any further!
Scared, panic-stricken, helpless…
There was no one who could help her…
And there was no one who would come to help her either…
Gu Anbao stared at the tightly shut door, her entire body completely taut.
She couldn’t stay here.
Leave! Leave, quickly! Get out of here!
With a heavy heart, she dashed toward the door and threw it open, instantly flying out!
It was their noon break. Therefore, everyone was having their lunch and no one noticed her. Even the security officer at the entrance only gave her a short, doubtful glance. Gu Anbao had dashed off the set and made a beeline for the front entrance.
It was a perfectly straight road outside.
Fearful that someone was chasing after her, she did not dare stop to rest as she kept running forward! She ran and ran, with no clue where the road would lead to. She didn’t know where she could go either. She only knew that she couldn’t stop, no matter what!
Gu Anbao ran along the road with no clear end, the scenery on either side of her constantly falling behind her. She never knew that she was able to run so fast. It was as if the wind against her ears was taking away everything that she feared.
So this was what it felt like to run.
In the past, due to her heart condition, she had panted heavily just from walking a little too fast. But now, she could run without ever feeling tired.
She suddenly desired to spend the rest of her life running like this… No longer having to think about anything else…
The sun was setting and her body was beginning to feel hot.
She was overworking her engine, thus her body was overheating. She had to slow down as she continued to travel along the road…
Finally, at an empty bus stop, she stopped and sat down. She stared vacantly at the cars traveling back and forth as the sun gradually began to set.
The moment she stopped, everything that had happened earlier flooded back into her mind.
Now that she had calmed down, she found herself extremely foolish… How could she assume he was dead without even checking his breathing or his pulse?…
At that moment… She was utterly frightened…
This was the first time she had encountered such a situation… She was completely dumbstruck. How could she bring herself to care about anything else?
She didn’t know how he was right now…
If…
If he was dead, would she be destroyed?… Even if he wasn’t, the other party would probably lodge a complaint…
However, she couldn’t accept such things, no matter what. She would rather be bitten by a hundred snakes… than be treated this way by others.
When the sun had completely disappeared from the horizon, the sky finally began to dim.
The night had arrived.
Gu Anbao stared listlessly in front of her. She had never experienced anything like this before. She was helpless and unsure of the path she should take…
