Chapter 6: Found You

Jinli was speechless.
From her limited memories, Jinli knew that Bai Jinli’s past interactions with Sister Qing had never been too harmonious. They were mostly of Bai Jinli receiving a one-sided verbal lynching from her.
In the eyes of the netizens, Bai Jinli was egotistical, unreasonable and had had a poor upbringing. In reality, she was a pushover with the management.
Jinli had the urge to curse Bai Jinli’s pure stupidity again — she showed cowardice in front of her management, but was tough in front of fans. What a typical case of destroying relations on both ends.
Before Jinli could react, Sister Qing had already begun lashing out at her, speaking one final sentence, “You will report to the office tomorrow. That will be the first thing you do.”
Doo, doo, doo.
The phone was mercilessly cut.
Very obviously, this was never meant to be a 2-way conversation.
“…”
Looking blankly at her phone, she tossed it indifferently onto her bed, turning into the bathroom for a bath.
She had a long, relaxing soak in the tub. After which, she plopped onto the soft, velvety bed. She sighed deeply. The Human World’s showers were indeed convenient, but they could not match up to the ones she had in her Heavenly Estate. She sorely missed bathing in the Heaven and Earth energies within the All-Natural Spiritual Springs.
Evidently, the furious lecture from Sister Qing had fallen on deaf ears.
Jinli played around with her phone, and slowly, she drifted out of consciousness.
Just before she had completely dozed off, Jinli felt as if she was forgetting something.
What is it that I’m forgetting?
She was clueless. Squeezing her eyes, she thought deeply.
Argh, I can’t remember. Whatever… It’s time to sleep.
With a soft, gentle yawn, she drifted off peacefully into a deep sleep.
At the same time, in a majestic bungalow somewhere in the city, the phone of a man, clad in black bath robes, rang.
His jet-black hair was glistening wet and still dripping with water. From the look of him, he had just finished his bath. Clear, glistening pearls of water trickled down his well-sculpted and perfectly proportionate face, following his slender long neck, flowing along his strong muscular chest. Along with his movements, the droplets swayed before teasingly disappearing into the corners of his charming, defined abdominal muscles. This bewitching physique was erupting with aphrodisiac male hormones. This man was easily capable of stirring up any woman’s romantic urges.
“Have you finished investigating?”
“Yes, sir. All the data related to the woman has been sent to you.” The man on the other end replied courteously and respectfully.
Hearing it, the man’s lips curled into a grin. He entered the study room, immediately switching on his computer. On the screen, a picture of a woman emerged. If Jinli were present, she would have been able to recognise her in a glance. The picture was of her.
Coincidentally, the man sitting in front of the computer now, was the same man whose skull had almost cracked under the force of Jinli’s swinging wine bottle.
“Found you.” A soft, deep voice sounded as a sinister smirk crossed the man’s face. His ink-black eyes locked onto the photograph, like a hawk stalking its prey. It felt as if he could capture the real person through this amateurishly-shot photograph.
In her sleep, a shiver ran down Jinli’s spine. Subconsciously, her survival instincts willed her to tighten her grip on the blanket she was in.
——
When she awoke, Jinli felt as if the world was spinning in her head. She had not had a good night’s rest. Throughout the night, she was caught in a dream. In that dream, she saw a pair of eyes. They were ice-cold and utterly emotionless, staring at her unendingly. That constant gaze made her hair stand on end!
Recalling those petrifying eyes, Jinli hid under her blanket as the chills rushed through her body. With half-closed eyes, she sat there, completely still for a while. Only later was she able to drag her reluctant body off her bed to dress herself.
An hour later, she was at the entrance of the company.
