Chapter 297: Chapter 294 Collapse of the Mountains
The waterfall in the mountain stream surged and flowed fiercely.
The roar of the bear echoed and rolled through the woods, exploding in everyone’s ears with a thunderous blast.
Goulbin’s legs went soft, Bi Fang’s burden of the tree on his shoulders grew even heavier, his face red with exertion, and when he saw Goulbin letting go, his anger flared instantly.
Damn it.
If he had turned tail and run at first, Bi Fang wouldn’t have said anything—it was human nature, and besides, Bi Fang had told Goulbin to run. But now, to be scared stiff by the roar of the bear, without showing a trace of courage, where had the confidence come from to sign up?
How had such a mentality and psychological quality not been eliminated in the past few days?
Luckily, Goulbin wasn’t an idiot; though dumb, he wasn’t completely foolish. In a panic, he stood up and continued to carry the tree.
The three men bore the same large tree, gradually erecting it until at last Bi Fang pushed hard, and with the potential energy of gravity, the tree toppled over to the opposite side in an instant.
A loud crash resounded, and dust billowed.
“Quick, cross now!”
Bi Fang called out to the two behind him, then held the tree steady to avoid it rolling, immediately allowing them to cross over the log.
Looking at the turbulent stream below, his comrade swallowed hard. He wasn’t sure how high the mountain stream was, but it was certainly over ten meters, and the edges were all covered with boulders. Falling would surely be fatal.
The noise behind them grew closer and closer, making even the viewers sweat with anxiety.
Taking a deep breath, his comrade no longer looked down, stared straight ahead, and quickly stepped across, then, like Bi Fang, held the tree to prevent it from rolling.
“Quick, your turn!”
Bi Fang called out to Goulbin again.
Gurgle.
Between the precipices ahead and the huge bear behind, just the thought of it made Goulbin feel the unstoppable urge to urinate. His hands trembled as he tentatively put one foot on the log, feeling a sense of instability as if he might roll and slip off at any moment, but this was all an illusion.
“Hurry, Goulbin, faster!” urged the comrade on the other side with all his might.
“Don’t look down!”
Bi Fang didn’t rush him—the more urgent the situation, the more he could only roar a reminder. The sound behind them was as if it were ringing in their ears, as though the bear had already arrived at their side, licking their earlobes, ready to open its mouth and devour them.
If it weren’t necessary, Bi Fang truly did not want to directly confront the Brown Bear, to say nothing of using a tranquilizer gun.
This wasn’t the first time he had faced such danger. Bi Fang could see that the Brown Bear was merely eyeing them, trying to find an opportunity; otherwise, it would have pounced at the beginning instead of facing off for so long.
Once gunfire started, in the eyes of animals, it was seen as a provocation, and a deadly confrontation would become inevitable.
Using a tranquilizer gun against a Brown Bear, no matter how quickly it took effect, within the range of the firearm, it was enough for the Brown Bear to charge at you and slap your Heavenly Spirit Cover before the anesthesia took effect.
And even the effect was in question; Brown Bears just awakened from hibernation often have fur that can exceed ten centimeters in length! Almost like a layer of hair woven into a natural armor.
Goulbin spread his arms like wings, inching his feet forward bit by bit, his slow pace infuriating the onlookers to the point of cursing—wishing they could jump through the screen to give the guy a beating and then drag him across the river by his neck.
“Move faster!”
The comrade on the other side urged vigorously, filled with utter contempt for Goulbin’s cowardice. Had it not been necessary to stabilize the tree to prevent it from rolling, and had Bi Fang not been on the other side, he would have truly liked to turn around and leave. Just as he raised his head wanting to urge him again, a color all too familiar and painful to the eyes pricked like a needle from within the forest on the opposite side.
He stared dumbfounded, pointing behind him: “Bear, bear!”
Startled, Goulbin crouched down instinctively, grabbing hold of the protruding branches on the log.
“Hurry!”
Even Bi Fang had started to urge them on. He glanced back and saw the brown figure drawing relentlessly closer, the distance now less than a hundred meters.
The Brown Bear’s speed wasn’t fast, which undoubtedly confirmed his guess—the Brown Bear was still looking for an opportunity. Otherwise, it should now be sprinting, covering a hundred-meter distance faster than Bolt—no need for even ten seconds.
“Relax!”
Seeing Goulbin squat down, Bi Fang nearly died of frustration.
After much encouragement, Goulbin finally stood up, adjusted his posture, and walked towards the ground. It seemed he also knew the Bear was about to strike, his pace quicker than before.
The Bear was getting closer, eighty meters, fifty meters, thirty meters.
By the time Goulbin had crossed to the other side, Bi Fang could even smell the stench from the Bear’s mouth.
Only when the distance narrowed to less than ten meters did the audience truly realize just how gigantic this Brown Bear was—far more than just a “massive beast”!
It was more like a mountain, a mountain made of defensive layers of thick fat and sinewed muscles!
Its physique was robust—muscles over its shoulders and nape bulging. The muscles protruding from its back gave its forearms an extraordinarily powerful look. Its claws, measuring 15 centimeters long, were more like iron daggers than the usual calcified claws. Its whole body was covered in brown fur that, under the sunlight, even seemed to shimmer with a golden light!
Seeing Bi Fang alone, the Brown Bear no longer restrained its hunting instincts and pounced towards him fiercely; the mountain of muscle and fat charging at him was an unstoppable force. It seemed as if the sky was collapsing and about to crush down on him!
On the other side, two people’s pupils shrank sharply, almost shouting out at the same time.
Feeling the reek of death approaching from behind, Bi Fang suddenly lunged forward, rolling and standing on the log with an incredibly bizarre sense of balance, wave upon wave of gasps from the audience escalating—one’s balance had to be incredibly unimaginable to achieve such a feat!
To roll on the log and still maintain one’s posture required tremendous control over every muscle in the body, and the balance was terrifyingly horrifying!
Even those who knew nothing of the sort felt deeply thrilled by the scene!
One roll brought Bi Fang to the center of the tree. Just as he thought about getting up to rush out, the log beneath him suddenly began to shake violently, as if it were a rope.
It was the Brown Bear!
Not daring to advance, it stepped on the tree, pressing down intermittently, shaking the whole tree with its weight!
What a clever Bear!
This anthropomorphic scene made it seem as if this wasn’t a beast living in the depth of the forest but a sly and experienced Hunter!
The viewers had just heaved a sigh of relief seeing Bi Fang reach the center of the tree, but now their hearts were suspended once more.
But now was not the time to discuss whether the Bear was clever or not—the chat in the live broadcast was already in chaos, the comments streaming endlessly!
Jerret was so anxious that he almost felt like kicking the helicopter pilot away and taking his place.
[Holy shit, that scared me to death!]
[Damn, this Bear’s IQ is about to surpass mine!]
[Be confident, it already has.]
[I played like this when I was alive. Now I am in line waiting to sip soup]
The audience’s hearts were practically hanging from the ceiling, with several familiar viewers preemptively reaching into their chest pockets and pulling out their go-to medications.
The temporary bridge made of trees was not stable. Companions on the opposite shore noticed loose stones starting to move, but it was too late to warn him.
The huge tree slipped from the opposite shore in an instant!
