Chapter 926: Chapter 925 Anger
Shu Pan looked at herself in the mirror and touched her new hairstyle, feeling somewhat unfamiliar.
Was this really herself? How could her entire demeanor change just by switching hairstyles?
However, she was quite satisfied with her new look.
The reflection showed her extra charm, her black eyes shining like the stars, a high nose, and a fair complexion.
“Let’s go, let’s show your new look to CEO Gu Shaoting,” Ye Xiaomeng teased.
Shu Pan bashfully lowered her head, feeling a bit shy.
…
By the time Shu Pan got home, Gu Shaoting had not yet returned, but she mocked herself for the foolish thought.
What time was it? How could he possibly be back this early?
Shu Pan checked the time; the kids would be back soon.
She and Xiaomeng had really shopped for a long time today, mainly because getting her hair done took quite a while. She had been worried about timing, which is why she had the driver and Sister Li pick them up.
Shu Pan felt a bit nervous, unsure of how Gu Shaoting would react to her new appearance.
When the children came back, they all exclaimed how pretty their mom looked with her new hairstyle.
Shu Pan’s mood immediately improved.
After settling the children in, before long, the sound of a car could be heard in the courtyard; Shu Pan guessed that Gu Shaoting was back.
Indeed, it wasn’t long before Gu Shaoting entered.
Shu Pan glanced at the time and mocked herself, guessing he was back early because the discussion this morning hadn’t reached a conclusion.
Normally, he wouldn’t be home at this hour.
“Back already?” Shu Pan said nonchalantly.
“Yep,” Gu Shaoting replied, and then looked at Shu Pan, pausing in surprise.
His wife had changed her hairstyle today, looking very lively; he felt there was something different about her.
“Did you go shopping today?” Gu Shaoting walked over to Shu Pan and sat down beside her.
But the way he stared at Shu Pan was so intense that it made her feel uncomfortable.
“Mm-hmm, I went out with Xiaomeng for a bit,” Shu Pan replied, as restrained as ever.
Gu Shaoting nodded in approval, “Right, this way you won’t be bored.”
Shu Pan furrowed her brows slightly, then said, “I still stand by my opinion—I want to work.”
Gu Shaoting’s expression darkened instantly, his face showing no emotion, “The kids need you, this home needs you, and if you’re bored, you can go out to relax. Even if you want to work, you can go to Gu Group. Didn’t you use to work there before? The outside world is perilous now, and I don’t feel at ease about you.”
Gu Shaoting explained his reasons to Shu Pan, hoping she would understand that it was for her own good.
She had been out of society for years now, she simply didn’t understand what it was like.
“I know you mean well, but I still want some space for myself,” Shu Pan persisted.
“Are you saying I restrict you? That I don’t give you space?” Seeing Shu Pan’s firm attitude, Gu Shaoting suddenly felt a surge of anger.
“Shaoting, I think we need to have a serious talk. Don’t you feel like we’ve become strangers lately?” Shu Pan pursed her lips, her tone filled with deep sadness.
“It seems like you’re just so bored that you’re indulging in wild thoughts. Going to work for another company—away from my protection—is that the space you want?” Gu Shaoting felt she was being quite unreasonable.
Shu Pan looked at him with a mournful expression, remaining silent.
“Fine. If that’s what you want, go ahead. I hope it gives you the space you’re looking for,” Gu Shaoting said, before picking up his jacket and heading to the porch to change his shoes and leave.
The door slammed, snapping Shu Pan back to reality.
