Chapter 47 – Why was Lu Lixing still alive? (3)
In the study, Doctor Zhao was already prepared to perform his daily inspection of Lu Lixing.
Doctor Zhao had been sent here by Head Doctor Chen. When Lu Lixing had been hospitalized, during his entire stay at the hospital, Doctor Zhao had been following Head Doctor Chen in treating Lu Lixing. And so, he had a very good understanding of Lu Lixing’s physical condition.
Lu Lixing had been seriously injured, and his various organs were starting to fail. There had already been three close calls with Lu Lixing at the hospital. Everyone knew that Lu Lixing was at the end of his life. On the day that Lu Lixing had been discharged from the hospital, Doctor Zhao had estimated that if his patient’s condition was slightly more serious, he wouldn’t even be able to make it back home.
However, he had already stayed at the Lu family’s home for three days. Not only was Lu Lixing still alive, his complexion was improving each day. Although he spent all of his time recuperating, he didn’t look like a terminally ill patient at at all.
His spirit looked better than everyone else in the Lu family.
After Lu Lixing left Ji Qingqing’s room, he went straight to the study and sat down on a recliner. Although he knew that his physical condition had recovered, he was still considered a seriously ill patient in the eyes of medicine. He couldn’t explain about Little A’s existence to Elder Lu. He could only accept that Doctor Zhao would be doing a routine inspection on him.
Elder Lu entered the study right after Lu Lixing.
“Doctor Zhao, you don’t need to give Lixing an examination today.”
“Elder Lu, why…”
“I plan on taking Lixing to the hospital to do a full-body examination.”
Doctor Zhao slightly froze in surprise. Looking at how Lu Lixing seemed to be the picture of health, he understood Elder Lu’s meaning. He nodded and said, “Okay.”
After saying that, the doctor packed up his equipment and left the study.
Elder Lu looked at the healthy-looking Lu Lixing and asked in a grave tone, “Lixing, tell grandpa the truth. How are you feeling right now?”
Lu Lixing seriously looked at Elder Lu. “Grandpa, I told you. I feel very good.”
“When did you start feeling better?”
Lu Lixing thought it over and straightforwardly answered, “On the day I came back from the hospital.”
Elder Lu turned the Buddhist prayer beads in his hand. He pondered his grandson’s answers. The day that Lixing came home from the hospital was also the day that Ji Qingqing “married” Lixing.
Elder Lu deeply looked at his grandson for a long time before saying, “Let’s go to the hospital this afternoon for an examination.”
“Okay, I’ll listen to you.”
Elder Lu previously had a private discussion with Head Doctor Chen at the hospital. At the time, Head Doctor Chen had acknowledged frankly that Lu Lixing only had a few days left to live. Elder Lu might have mistaken Lu Lixing’s very healthy appearance as a sick person’s last burst of energy on the first day he came back from the hospital. But, it was already the third day since he came home. Not only had his grandson’s condition not worsened during this time, he was getting better with each day. No matter how he looked at it, his grandson didn’t seem like he was seriously ill. The series of actions that occured in the past few days, they were bound to arouse doubt.
Lu Lixing and Elder Lu remained in the study and talked for a long time.
After Ji Qingqing had washed up, on her way to the stairs, she passed by the study and heard them talking.
Feeling doubtful, she wanted to ask Aunty Pei what Elder Lu and Lu Lixing were talking about.
As Aunty Pei was serving Ji Qingqing breakfast, she was mumbling to herself about Young Master’s condition.
Aunty Pei’s words reminded Ji Qingqing of something.
Ji Qing carefully counted the number of days since coming here from the hospital. It had been three days. Why was Lu Lixing still alive?
Not only was he still alive, his health was getting better each day. He didn’t look like a person that was going to drop dead at any moment.
Ji Qingqing mulled over the thought. There was no such thing as a dying flash of lucity and energy that lasted three days right?
And, the strength that he had used to hold her face when he kissed her forehead this morning, it didn’t seem like something a dying person would be capable of.
However, she was sure that Lu Lixing had died in the novel, and it should have been two days ago too.
What was going on?
