Chapter 26: Posturing
Just as Dreyer moved, tiny electric currents appeared and moved around his body. He looked like he was electrically charged.
“He has lightning-type Dou Qi like you?”
Lilia looked at Ron in surprise. This kid had the same type of Dou Qi as Ron. The main examiner this time was Ron, he would take this kid under his wing if everything went smoothly.
“I’m not interested!”
Ron’s face immediately darkened, he was not interested in Dreyer at all.
Dreyer was an arrogant person with an old-fashioned aristocratic mindset. Even if people like him could achieve something in the future, it would not be in line with his ideals.
Therefore, Ron had zero interest in Dreyer.
“So you want to teach that kid named Shu Ke? This kid’s talent in fighting is indeed not bad at all. He can identify other people’s flaws at a glance. Sometimes, I even suspect that he has something that can allow him to see the flaws of others!”
Shu Ke, who was fighting with Dreyer, suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. He could not help but shiver, and Dreyer almost seized the opportunity to hit him.
“What’s wrong? Can’t hold on anymore?”
Dreyer’s punch missed but he was not angry at all. In fact, this ignited his will to win the fight.
He had almost hit this guy with that punch just now.
Since Shu Ke had not fought back once, as long as he persevered, victory would be his!
Dreyer thought to himself and immediately became excited.
As long as he could kill Shu Ke, he would be able to prove that he was the strongest!
“I’ve said it before. You and Bordeaux are the same in my eyes.”
In the face of Dreyer’s provocation, Shu Ke still had an indifferent attitude, as if all of this were insignificant in his eyes.
His cold attitude immediately provoked Dreyer.
“Let’s see how long you can continue posturing!”
Dreyer let out another roar, the lighting Dou Qi in his body became restless along with his emotions. He was like a barrel of dynamite right now, unstable and volatile.
But at the same time, it also contained a tremendous amount of power.
Both Dreyer’s speed and power had improved by more than one level.
Shu Ke could only see his afterimage flash in front of him before disappearing.
It was obvious that Dreyer’s speed had reached a terrifying level.
The great elder who was watching the battle could not help but praise him. The many years he spent training the child was not in vain, he had indeed lived up to his expectations.
Even the great elder himself back then did not have this amount of strength at this age. This kid would definitely be able to take on his mantle and even represent him in the race for the position of the head of the family!
He was almost eighty years old, yet the thought this was enough to turn him red with excitement. He was more than happy.
The expressions of the other elders also changed. They all knew that Dreyer was very strong, but they also did not expect him to be this strong.
Dreyer would be the one leading the Elder Council in the future if things went smoothly.
“Congratulations, great elder! Your descent is truly a gem, his future is definitely promising!”
“That’s right! The great elder has taught him well. Dreyer will definitely be somebody in the future!”
“I think Shu Ke’s going to be dead meat. We’re finally getting rid of this bothersome person, this is all thanks to the great elder!”
..
All the elders started to compliment the great elder. They showered the great elder with flattery and puffery.
“Everyone, you’re too kind. This is all the result of Dreyer’s hard work, speak too highly of us.”
“As for Shu Ke, he brought this upon himself. An ignorant fellow like him is not worth pitying…”
The great elder was speaking with confidence and disdain towards Shu Ke as someone shouted, “Look!”
Everyone shifted their attention back to the arena, but their expressions suddenly changed.
Just now, Dreyer had the upper hand, but things were drastically different now.
“Wolf Sword Technique: Wolf Heart.”
Shu Ke closed his eyes, he quietly stood still on the spot.
He held a long sword in front of him and stood as still as a statue. Dreyer circled Shu Ke a few times and was not sure if he should make a move.
“Heart Wolf? He is just a low-tier Dou Master. How can he have such strength?”
This time, even Lilia was stunned. Heart Wolf was the final move of the Wolf Sword Technique.
This move might not be the most powerful, but it was definitely the most impressive.
It completely seals off one’s five senses, one could only rely on their sixth sense—also known as intuition—to make judgments.
The opponent’s move and direction of attack did not matter as their eyes would be closed. They would strike the enemy based on their intuition.
If their sword does strike the enemy, the enemy would fall.
But if their sword fails to strike the enemy, they would fall.
It normally takes years for a person who practices the Wolf Sword Technique to be enlightened with this move. How could a youth who was not even twenty years old possibly know this move?
“Could he be posturing?”
Lilia could not bring herself to believe that a youth who was below his twenties could actually practice a complicated combination of Dou techniques like the Wolf Sword Technique to such an extent.
Therefore, it was only natural for her to think of Shu Ke as a posturer. This was definitely a fitting explanation of Shu Ke’s current actions.
“This…”
Ron frowned slightly when he heard this. He was not sure if this was the case.
However, it seemed that this was the only way to explain Shu Ke’s strange actions now.
“Die!”
Just as the two were filled with doubt, Dreyer suddenly grew impatient. He turned into a bolt of lightning and rushed towards Shu Ke.
Sounds of thunder could be heard from other directions.
These were all traps set by Dreyer. He was trying to mess up Shu Ke’s judgment. This way, Shu Ke would make a misjudgment and shield a false attack.
“That’s a very smart move.”
Even Ron, who did not like Dreyer, had no choice but to approve of his move.
“He’s moving!”
Lilia, who had been paying attention to Shu Ke’s every move, suddenly had her eyes light up. Shu Ke finally moved just before Dreyer was about to hit him.
However, he did not stab towards Dreyer’s direction, he stabbed towards Dreyer’s left instead.
There was nothing there, it was just a bait that Dreyer had released earlier.
“Shu Ke lost.”
Ron sighed regretfully. He had so much potential but he acted too impulsively. If only he had listened to him and endured for a while more.
But Lilia slowly shook her head. “Let’s not make judgments yet.”
