Chapter 21: The Revenge Begins
“Sorry to have kept you all waiting.”
The Great Elder finally felt a little more at ease after talking to Dreyer.
He looked much more amiable now.
“It’s alright. The Great Elder had something to tell his grandson. We understand.”
Ron smiled. Although it seemed like he was saying that he did not mind, what he really meant was that he did mind.
“Heh heh heh.”
The Great Elder was in a good mood. He could finally get rid of a problem that had been bothering him, so he did not care about Ron’s ridicule.
“Since everything is ready, let’s begin the assessment.”
Ron looked at Shu Ke with some curiosity. An eighteen-year-old low-tier Dou Master could be considered a prodigy, but it was still a somewhat common type of prodigy.
There was a royal family member who had already become a Dou grandmaster at this age.
Compared to that person, Shu Ke’s achievement was not that impressive.
Moreover, even in the Vincent family, the grandson of the great elder—Dreyer—was already a high-tier Dou Master. He could be considered a prodigy too.
Why did they care so much about this rather ordinary prodigy?
At the end of the day, Ron was still an outsider. He did not know that Shu Ke had turned from an ordinary person to a Dou Master within a month.
A talent like Shu Ke would still be incomparably spectacular if placed anywhere in the kingdom.
Any family that had such a genius would treasure the person.
However, the Vincent family was an exception. There were too many things that prevented them from doing so, they did not dare to nurture Shu Ke.
Therefore, they only had one choice, and that was to get rid of Shu Ke. That way, they could protect the family and protect themselves!
“This year’s assessment will be the same as the previous years, you will fight each other!”
Ron stood up as he spoke. He looked at the group of people in front of him, “The Royal Academy is an academy that trains warriors. In the future, all of you will go onto the battlefield and fight for the country!”
“So you need to fight and enjoy the process. Grow in the battle and get what you want from the battle!”
“Our instructors will assess you based on your performance in the battle. Those who perform well will naturally be selected, so you don’t have to worry about losing the opportunity!”
Ron paused for a moment, then raised his arm and shouted, “Now, the exam is divided into groups. Those who have the same number as you will be your opponents!”
As he spoke, a few servants carried a large crystal ball and walked over, placing it in front of everyone.
“The Vincent family…”
Ron frowned when he saw the crystal ball. Why was the Vincent family members getting themselves involved in the Royal Academy’s assessment?
However, just as Ron was about to say something, a mage instructor beside him reached out and pulled him, “Can’t you see how angry the Vincent family is?”
“If they want to do something, just let them be. If anything happens, we can report to the principal when we get back. There’s no need to go against them now.”
“Lilia, didn’t you see…”
Ron wanted to say something, but Lilia raised her hand and interrupted him.
While having her fair and slender index finger gently support her chin, she looked at Shu Ke with her emerald eyes. They were filled with curiosity, “A low-tier Dou Master like him can cause so much trouble for the great Vincent family. I’d like to see what this kid is capable of.”
“You—”
Ron opened his mouth, he wanted to say something, but when he thought of Lilia’s identity, he could only hold it in.
“As you wish. But when we go back, I won’t cover for them. These years, the nobles have increasingly disregarded the rules of our academy.”
When Lilia heard Ron’s complaint, she only laughed lightly and did not say more.
After all, the kingdom was built with the nobles and the royal family as its core. Since the Royal Academy was established on this land, it could not afford to be an enemy of the nobles.
Ron felt that the nobles did not do the right thing. He was the minority in the academy who would think this way.
However, Lilia did not say this to Ron, because she knew that Ron would not listen to her.
He was a commoner who had climbed up from the bottom of the army to become an aristocrat, his mindset was still far behind those of the old aristocrats. Perhaps he still needed some time to change, or perhaps he would continue to do so until he was pushed out of the circle by the aristocrats.
“Start grouping!”
The great elder gave the third elder a look. He understood and nodded, and then he infused his Dou Qi into the crystal ball.
Immediately, the people in the crystal ball who were in the form of photo stickers began to line up.
“A magic tool?”
Shu Ke looked at the crystal ball and knew that it was definitely a magic tool.
He had only officially started training for a month. In addition, there were far fewer mages than fighters. Basically, only one mage would be born out of a hundred fighters.
Therefore, Shu Ke had never seen a mage or anything related to magic.
This crystal ball was the first magic tool he had ever seen.
Therefore, Shu Ke looked at this scene curiously and with hints of anticipation.
“The first group, Dreyer versus Satu.”
Dreyer looked at the great elder with a puzzled face, wasn’t he supposed to kill Shu Ke?
Why was his opponent Satu?
The great elder did not say anything. He only nodded slowly at Dreyer, indicating that it was not time yet.
Then, he let the third elder continue.
“The second group, Tang Jishi…”
“The third group…”
..
“The eighth group, Shu Ke versus Bordeaux.”
Shu Ke was immediately energized. He looked at his opponent, Bordeaux.
Bordeaux was a middle-tier Dou Master. He was only eighteen years old but he looked like he was in his thirties.
Not only did he have a huge beard, but he also had a rather tall and sturdy figure. It was obvious that he was not an easy character to deal with.
Shu Ke also knew him, he was the grandson of the fourth elder. He liked to work out.
He had stunned his growth at a young age due to his excessive muscle training. However, his strength was still not bad. In the past, he often used Shu Ke as a punching bag.
He was also one of the people on his revenge list.
Therefore, Shu Ke did not have any objections to this pairing. After all, it was his revenge battle, they should pair him with people like Bordeaux more.
This way, he could properly repay all of them for their “kindness”!
Bordeaux immediately stretched out his hand and made the gesture of cutting his neck when he saw Shu Ke staring at him.
The gesture’s meaning was obvious.
“Interesting, this stupid big guy really wants to kill me? Let’s see if you’ll kill or be killed.”
Shu Ke sneered and proceeded to ignore him.
The grouping was finally done, Ron shouted, “The test will now begin!”
Shu Ke’s revenge against the Vincent family had officially begun!
