308 I Want Daddy
Shen Yin never thought that her son would be bullied in school. She immediately stood up angrily and said, “Nian Nian, don’t worry. Mom will definitely pursue this matter and not let anyone wrong you.”
Shen Nian sniffed and pitifully reached out to tug her sleeve and shook it gently. “Mom, does Dad know about this?”
Shen Yin lowered her eyes and ruffled his hair. She thought he was afraid that Lian Jing would scold him if he found out, so she hurriedly comforted him. “I don’t think he knows yet. The school only called me, and I haven’t had the time to tell him yet.”
However, Shen Nian had deliberately asked because he suddenly cared about what Cui Hao had said. He suddenly wanted everyone to know that he had a father, and his father was the President of a very powerful company.
Shen Nian lowered his head, pursed his lips and tugged at her hand. “Tell Dad. I want him to come.”
Shen Yin was puzzled. She did not know that the child was so clingy to Lian Jing, but perhaps it was to be expected. Something so major had happened to Nian Nian, it was only right to inform Lian Jing.
The teacher asked in shock, “Shen Nian’s father is here?”
She realized that her words could be misinterpreted and quickly explained, “I meant that there’s nothing in the school files about the child’s father. I thought the child was—”
She was too embarrassed to say the words ‘illegitimate child’ because it would be impolite to say it in front of the child.
She could not be blamed for thinking this way. This elementary school was not one that ordinary children could afford. The children who attended this school were from rich or noble families. Their parents were all famous figures in the city.
Although there were illegitimate children like Shen Nian, usually only the mother’s information was registered in the school’s database.
When he was helping Shen Nian with the admission procedures, the butler had only left Shen Yin’s contact number for the sake of convenience as Shen Yin had not officially registered her marriage with Lian Jing. He had not expected such a big misunderstanding to occur.
Shen Yin did not know that the school had assumed he was illegitimate, so she nodded in confusion. “Nian Nian did grow up in a single-parent family, but his father hasn’t passed away yet.”
The teacher was speechless. She knew that Shen Yin had misinterpreted her meaning, so she smiled awkwardly and said perfunctorily, “That’s good, that’s good. Then you should quickly get the child’s father so you can handle this matter together. Cheng Mu’s parents should be arriving soon.”
At that moment, the door of the radiology department opened. Shen Yin put down her phone and anxiously brought Shen Nian in. “Doctor, how is Cheng Mu? Is her life in danger?”
The doctor looked at the scan and shook his head. “It’s not serious. It’s just a concussion and shock from excessive blood loss. She needs to be hospitalized for a while so we can observe her.”
“That’s great!” Shen Yin carefully put away the test results the doctor handed to her, then she and Shen Nian pushed Cheng Mu’s hospital bed so that they could perform the hospitalization procedures.
The teacher quickly came over to help. After settling Cheng Mu, she wiped her sweat and said, “I’ll take care of this. You should call Shen Nian’s father. I’ll contact Cheng Mu’s parents again.”
“Okay.” Shen Yin asked Shen Nian to stay with the teacher and take care of Cheng Mu while she walked out of the ward to make a call.
At that moment, Lian Jing had just finished a meeting. Lian Meng followed behind him and could not help but stretch and complain, “Brother, when can we sit down and have a good rest?”
“Weren’t you sitting down just now?” Lian Jing looked at her in displeasure. He had not yet reprimanded the girl for daydreaming the entire morning, yet here she was complaining that she had worked too hard. He had not seen her do any proper work yet.
Lian Meng pouted and mumbled something. She did not dare to let Lian Jing hear her clearly, but she looked exhausted. She was having her period, so she was feeling extra tired. Even lying down tired her out, and she had to run around with Lian Jing. Of course, her body could not take it.
However, no matter how much she complained, she did not dare to slow down her pace of work. Lian Jing was a complete workaholic. Once he entered his working zone, no one could tear him away from his work.
Just as her mind was wandering, the phone in Lian Jing’s pocket suddenly rang. He took out his phone and answered the call. The serious expression on his face instantly grew gentle. “Hello? Why are you calling me at this time?”
“Are you busy?” Shen Yin recalled him saying he had a meeting that morning and wanted to hang up. However, she heard Lian Jing chuckle and said nonchalantly, “No, I just finished my work. If there’s anything, just say it.”
Shen Yin heaved a sigh of relief and briefly recounted what had happened to Nian Nian in school.
Lian Jing was furious and his eyes turned icy. “Wait for me at the hospital. I’ll be there soon.”
