Chapter 279 Bad News And Start Of War!
After the magic resurgence, the intensity of magic in the entire world increased by ten folds.
For Stormy Island that already had intense magic concentration, the increase was 20 folds.
Stormy Town would also expand to become Stormy City…
But the ruler was not Lothar. Instead, it was Blackleaf…
The city would become William’s training ground, where professionals could focus on their training.
The evolution created by the magic resurgence made the soldiers of the City of Dawn stronger. The forces of other factions had also been upgraded.
There were currently about 30 Advanced professionals in the City of Dawn.
William was unable to give an accurate figure. Under such an intense magical environment, the training progress of the NPCs would be accelerated. And by the time the game beta started, which would be two years later, numerous Advanced professionals would have appeared.
William wanted the top professionals of the City of Dawn to participate in the Magic Conference.
The tournament would be categorized differently for the Intermediate, Advanced, and Grandmaster professional. The professionals would be able to compete in their respective levels.
If the professionals of the City of Dawn could clinch the top spots, they would help to increase the reputation of the City of Dawn and would obtain valuable prizes.
But the professionals knew their limits.
Wells and Violent Dragon were two hardened warriors. Even though their close-combat powers were stronger than most people, it was impossible for them to clinch the top spots in the tournament.
Xiyan was a Combat Angel with powerful skills that had been used to deal with dark creatures, against normal professionals, these skills would not be able to inflict much damage.
After taking out those who were not participating in the tournament, William had come up with the final list of contestants.
Five of them would be taking part, William, Annie, Burned Cinder, Diablo, and Legolas.
All five were Legendary BOSSES skilled in both magic and combat.
After examining the list, he sighed and thought, “It’s a pity that there’s no team event. Other factions would not be able to send out five Advanced Legendary professionals. The southern region would have been definitely placed at the top.”
William was a close-combat specialist and team leader. He was also a good archer.
Annie’s critical hits were devastating, especially since she could make herself invisible when riding the unicorn. She would do well as a super-assassin.
Diablo and Burned Cinder were both a fighter and a mage.
Legolas looked like a ranger but he was a close-combat specialist. He was also knowledgeable in the wind element magic. He was already powerful when he possessed the Epic bloodline. But now that he had upgraded to Legendary bloodline along with upgrades in his endowment, he had become an outstanding Legendary BOSS.
Unfortunately, there was no team event in the tournament. Otherwise, if either Wells or Violent Dragon joined in, William’s team would go on to become the champion of the southern region!
It was not complacency. It was the absolute confidence of William.
There were many contestants in the first Magic Conference.
There were also many powerful professionals. But the southern regions did not have any Human empires, so William and his companions could only compete against the top professionals of the Human kingdoms. He had a good chance of winning.
The other three regions had professionals from the Human empires.
They were powerful graduates from the Battle Energy College, Magic Skills Colleges, and Military College of the Human empires.
Some professionals were reincarnations of powerful warriors and the gods…
The professionals had gone through life and death experiences. They were not fools who did not know how to fight.
If those reincarnations of powerful warriors
gods were to form a group for the team event, they would defeat William’s Legendary team easily.
Legendary was only Legendary…
The sages were the top contenders in the large continent.
Even though those professionals who had the potential to become sages only had Legendary bloodlines, their endowments were incredible. They could easily defeat other Legendary professionals…
In the first Magic Conference, the top ten contenders of each of the four regions would not be competing against the professionals of other regions.
William was spared from having a close-combat face-off with the top contenders of the other three regions.
Even if he obtained the top spot in the southern regions, he would be badly beaten in the finals.
The first Magic Conference was only a testbed organized by the four major forces. They wanted to discover potential professionals for recruitment.
They did not expect the Magic Conference to have a great appeal. Numerous young professionals were participating in the tournament.
But William understood the young professionals.
They were young and ambitious.
They wanted to know their ranking. Previously, there had been no ranking boards in the Legendary continent.
The sages were not ranked, while the Legendary professionals did not care.
The Epic titled professionals were all old, so they were not interested.
The Magic Conference allowed Intermediate, Advanced, and Grandmaster professionals to take part. There was even an age limit. It was a good contest for young people to gain fame.
The contestants could prove their standing among their compatriots of the same level.
As long as they could clinch the top spots in a region, they would be famous throughout the world.
The four major forces recognized the impact of the Magic Conference.
In the next few tournaments that followed, they invested more resources, and the prizes became more generous.
When the nine continents were about to become one, besides the NPCs, the players were also given the chance to participate in a special category.
“The popularity of the Magic Conference is greater than the official game competition.” William frowned. In his previous life, he had not been a professional.
But he was equally famous.
He was able to clinch the top spots in the Magic Conference.
Hence, he had become famous.
In the City of Dawn.
William walked in a hurry to the conference hall. He was looking extremely grave. He had received a piece of very bad news.
At the stronghold of the Dawn Mercenary Team in Emerald Grand Duchy, dismembered corpses of tens of professionals and workers lay. All of their blood had been sucked dry.
“We have to investigate thoroughly to find the culprits. Otherwise, the authority of the City of Dawn will be undermined,” Lautner coldly said. Since the Darkness invasion, the City of Dawn had not suffered such a debilitating attack.
Lautner had returned from Mermen Island. Jack had brought along two legions and they were stationed at the island for some time. The City of Dawn had created a teleportation portal that was connected to the island. The portal was used for the transportation of materials and ores.
The City of Dawn also started trading with the Naga Race.
The city provided them the resources from the continent, while the Naga Race provided resources from the ocean. It was a profitable trade that provided mutual benefits.
The massacre in Emerald Grand Duchy struck the nerves of a lot of people. If William did not resolve the issue, then other people would look down on the City of Dawn.
Even the Red Fire Kingdom would look down on the City of Dawn, even though the kingdom had been supporting the city…
If William did not resolve the massacre, the other nations would delay or withhold the mission rewards.
It was two months from the Magic Conference…
There was sufficient time for William to teach the perpetrators a lesson.
William smiled. His enemies would be from the East Sea Metropolis or the Dark City.
He did not think of antagonizing them but they were spoiling for a fight.
The City of Dawn would deploy its army to crush them!
He wanted them to know the true power of the Dawn Army.
