The three Greats barked in unison, their teasing gaze falling on the Little Prince, holding in his arms the leopard cub, Baoya, the size of a civet cat.

“Not this one, it doesn’t count.”

Shitou bared his teeth in an attempt to intimidate the three dogs, “There’s a real big guy, almost as big as Huya. Its mouth is big enough to bite off your heads in one go.”

“Hmph.”

The three Greats didn’t believe him and bared their teeth in protest.

“Hmph, you lot better believe it,”

Shitou snorted, “When you see Lei Bao, you’ll be scared out of your wits.”

Lei Bao and Baoya were brothers, both raised in the Duke of Zhen’s residence without being released back into the wild.

Feasting and living it up in the Duke’s residence, they grew fat and strong but lacked cunning, always being played by Baoya.

“Alright, you sure have accomplished much by arguing with three dogs,”

Wang Meng rubbed his headache-stricken temple and gave Shitou a displeased glance.

“Sister, let’s take Grey One back to the Duke of Zhen’s residence. It’ll be so much fun with them there,”

The Little Prince was persuaded by Shitou’s words and wanted to see the leopard and dog fight.

“Sure, sister also wants them to have fun at the Martial Arts arena.”

Lin Qingluo readily agreed, “They’ve gotten used to being wild in the mountains. If they’re always cooped up in the yard, they might fall ill.”

“Sister Yu, you’re here, come on in!”

Hearing the commotion in the front yard, Su Ziqin came out to greet them with a smile.

“I happened to see it before.”

Su Ziqin’s heart fluttered, her eyes filled with astonishment.

Lin Qingluo didn’t hide it, “I happened to have some business there, so I went to see Master Xu.”

“Let’s go, we’ll talk inside.”

As an intern female official, Su Ziqin was naturally aware of the recent events in the palace. Sensing something off, she glanced at her cheerful younger sister and led her into her own chamber.

The sisters closed the door and whispered.

“Sister figured it out?”

Lin Qingluo touched her nose and smiled sheepishly.

“I just guessed, I wouldn’t dare to say for sure.”

Su Ziqin was still apprehensive, “How could you be so bold and reckless? Those were the Black Wolf Guards who don’t bat an eye when killing.”

“I had no other choice.”

Lin Qingluo forced a smile, “They wanted to arrest Xuan’er. What else should I have done, stand idly by and watch them take him away?”

“The Three Great Commanders of the Imperial Court have issued a gag order not to discuss this matter privately or leak it to anyone.”

Su Ziqin was indignant for her sister, “His Majesty’s decree rewarded the soldiers involved in the roundup, but none mentioned the credit due to you.”

“Commander Xu and the others were looking out for me.”

Lin Qingluo understood their intentions and reassured her sister, “The one on the dragon throne is keeping a close eye on the Duke of Zhen’s residence. It’s better to maintain a low profile and not provoke her.”
