Chapter 122: Demon Slaying! Altar of the Evil Divinity!
“Bloodseeker’s aura is getting stronger. He is devouring the energy and blood of those people to strengthen himself!” said Xue Linglong with a cold expression on her pretty face.
Luo Xinghe gripped the blade in his hand. His knuckles were white due to clenching the sword so tightly, and his face was full of killing intent. He sneered. “What a beast! You won’t even spare your own people!”
“You won’t be able to laugh later.” Bloodseeker just sneered, his hot gaze greedily sweeping over the delicate faces of Xue Linglong, Yang Xuerou, and the other women.
All these women would be his furnaces!
The blood-red domain beneath his feet seemed to turn into a giant mouth that devoured flesh and blood.
Blood Demon Gang members were dragged into the mire one by one and turned into nourishment, which Bloodseeker used to enhance his strength!
Even a Stage Four Blood Demon Gang powerhouse was pulled into the mire by a bloodied hand around his ankle.
This Blood Demon Gang powerhouse’s face was full of fear. He desperately wanted to break free, but he was horrified when he realized that he was unable to call upon any of his strength at all.
The blood surging in his veins gushed out uncontrollably from the pores all over his body, turning him bloody!
“How did it become like this?! Gang Leader, didn’t you say that you would lead us to domination? How can you do this to us?” In a daze, this Blood Demon Gang powerhouse seemed to have suddenly realized something. He exclaimed, “There’s something wrong with the blood brew you rewarded us with!”
The reason the Blood Demon Gang members increased in levels far faster than the average person was that they drank the blood brew that Bloodseeker had bestowed to them.
When they drank the blood brew, they didn’t need to fight with monsters. The sacrifice of other people’s lives would give them strength. Nobody was able to walk away from this temptation.
However, the rewards had been secretly marked with a price!
Bloodseeker sniffed and glanced at his subordinate. He stuck out his scarlet tongue and licked his lips, smiling cruelly! “The blood brew is both a gift and a curse. Don’t struggle. The reason you exist is to become my reserve food. After devouring your energy and blood, we will fuse into one. Domination is naturally not a problem.”
The face of the Blood Demon Gang’s Stage Four powerhouse was filled with resentment as he was quickly dragged into the blood-red mire and lost his life!
In just a few moments, hundreds of Blood Demon Gang members were swallowed up and turned into blood vapor, which gushed into Bloodseeker’s body!
Bloodseeker’s face was filled with intoxication and enjoyment, and the aura emanating from his body grew stronger and stronger.
He broke through to Stage Five… Stage Five, Level 2… Stage Five, Level 3!
The shoulder—which was shattered by God Devourer Ant—was also healed!
Bloodseeker stared at Xue Linglong and the others and then smiled evilly. “You’re next!”
What surprised Bloodseeker was the lack of fear in Xue Linglong and the other people’s expressions. There was only coldness and killing intent!
Could it be that these people still have an ace up their sleeve? Just as Bloodseeker thought about this, the roar of thunder grew louder around him!
Vast heavenly might spread out, making one’s heart tremble!
Bloodseeker snapped his head up, only to see the dense clouds in the sky becoming darker and deeper. Lightning flashed in the clouds as if some kind of horrible storm was brewing!
A monstrous pressure descended. Even Bloodseeker—who had been promoted to Stage Five—felt vaguely suffocated!
This was the [Bead of Thunder Punishment]’s main skill, [Heaven’s Wrath Thunder Punishment]!
Link was gone, but he left behind the [Bead of Thunder Punishment].
At this moment, God Devourer Ant and Star Moon activated the power of thunder within the sacred bead, releasing the Legend-grade forbidden curse—[Heaven’s Wrath Thunder Punishment]!
At the same moment, Bloodseeker was alerted to the impending disaster, and he prepared to flee!
The roar of thunder shook the sky and the earth! The whole sky was illuminated by the dazzling lightning!
This was the might of the heavens—Heaven’s Wrath Thunder Punishment!
Under the heavens’ mighty power, all living creatures were insignificant like dust and ants.
A thunder snake burst forth. Its blue and purple lightning enveloped the area, turning it into a domain of thunder!
A black thunder dragon with countless thunderbolts and a strong destructive aura also violently tore through the clouds and exited roaring!
At this moment, heaven and earth seemed to tremble. The glaringly bright lightning seemed to be destroying everything!
Bloodseeker’s eyes widened, and disbelief filled his face. “This is a Forbidden Curse!”
He was terrified. Even though Bloodseeker became a Stage Five existence, he couldn’t fight against a Legend-grade Forbidden Curse!
Bloodseeker turned into a blood shadow, frantically fleeing into the distance!
However, there was no way to escape from the thunder’s range!
Serpents of thunder pounded his body. The black thunder dragon opened its bloody mouth—made by the power of thunder—and bit Bloodseeker!
Bloodseeker’s face was filled with unwillingness. He hissed and roared, but his voice was completely masked by the sound of thunder!
He looked like a comical pantomime actor being swallowed by the lightning!
It took a long while for calm to return to this place. The wildly dancing thunder snakes disappeared, leaving only a charred black pit with a broken, unrecognizable body.
People close to the deep pit suddenly felt the blood in their body going out of control. They also saw Bloodseeker’s broken body slowly crawling up!
“He’s not dead?” The crowd of [Doomsday Online] players from Unfallen City was a little surprised.
“Haha! The thunder cannot destroy me, but I will destroy you all!” Bloodseeker roared with false bravado.
Just when the crowd thought that Bloodseeker was going to strike, he instead turned into a blood shadow and fled into the distance!
It was a bluff!
Bloodseeker didn’t fall to the thunderstorm thanks to a dagger, which was awarded to him by the abyss existence he served.
Although he survived the thunderstorm, he suffered heavy injuries. His strength had dropped to Stage Four, and he was in a pathetic state!
However, Luo Xinghe moved faster than Bloodseeker. The cold gleam of a blade flashed, and Bloodseeker was beheaded!
That day, the Blood Demon Gang was completely exterminated!
Luo Xinghe finally had his revenge. He laughed loudly, but his eyes were rimmed with red!
Bloodseeker had killed his entire family. Though the enemy was now dead, those who had died could never come back!
A bloody dagger—covered with cracks—fell to the ground as Bloodseeker fell!
Xue Linglong said, “This is the secret treasure that Bloodseeker used to activate the domain. It seems to be an extraordinary piece of equipment, but now it’s broken.”
“Wait for the City Master to return; then, let him take a look.”
…
No Retreat Army’s base.
The vast Undead army and a large number of mutated monsters had been reduced into corpses that were strewn all over the ground.
After Link killed the Evil General, the Undead army—which had lost its leader—was crushed by the summoned reflections and the No Retreat Army’s warriors.
The Evil General also dropped a pair of Diamond-grade boots. Zhao Yongkang gave them to Link.
The No Retreat Army did not raise any objections. After all, if Link hadn’t come, they wouldn’t have been able to keep their lives, let alone gain EXP and equipment.
These hundred-plus people were truly grateful to Link and revered him from the bottom of their hearts!
However, a strong aura of depravity and impurity still swirled around the place they were at. The sky was also still gloomy, indicating that the crisis had not been completely resolved!
Link turned his gaze toward a towering building in the distance and said grimly, “The sacrificial altar used by the Black Dragon Gang should be over there. If the altar is not completely destroyed, I’m afraid this place will become even more twisted. It might even become a breeding ground for mutated monsters.”
With those words, Link walked toward the building.
The future expansion of Unfallen City would definitely include Dragon City.
The evil gods couldn’t be allowed to exist on the edge of their territory!
Chapter 123: Recuperate! March Towards the Darkness!
No Retreat Army’s leader, Zhao Yongkang, said in a deep voice, “City Master Link, please wait for a moment.”
Link paused. “Is there anything else?”
Zhao Yongkang looked up at the dark sky and frowned. “The God of Evil rituals performed by the Black Dragon Gang are extremely evil. Fighting those evil beings not only risks losing your life but also risks aberration.”
“Even we found fighting those Spiderhumans hard. Even if one doesn’t get injured and infected, just gazing at those distorted sights for a long time can cause spiritual pollution and lead one to madness.”
“The altar is also the place where the Black Dragon Gang communicates with the God of Evil. There must be powerful evil beings guarding it. City Master Link, you should take a moment to recuperate and recover your strength before we head over to destroy the altar.”
A No Retreat Army soldier soon answered, “Yes, we are willing to go to the altar with City Master Link and fight against those aberrated monsters!”
Link nodded slightly at his words and didn’t refuse the No Retreat Army soldiers’ goodwill. Participating in a series of battles had taken a considerable toll on Link’s own physical and mental strength.
The six-winged angel Yuna waved her staff, and a circle of sacred, pure, holy light energy flowed out like ripples.
This holy light had a restraining effect on dark, unholy creatures, and it caused damage via the holy flame. To all people, it was good for purifying the polluted.
All the No Retreat Army soldiers felt a warmth well up inside their bodies as if their souls were cleansed by the holy light!
Many No Retreat Army soldiers—who suffered from spiritual pollution and had indescribable whispers ringing in their ears—finally got out of that creepy state.
They had once again felt the power of this summoned Angel, and they couldn’t help but be amazed by it.
“The holy light is so warm. I feel like all my strength has been restored and that all the spiritual pollution from fighting the Spiderhumans has been dispelled!”
“Only City Master Link is capable of summoning such a powerful creature!”
“Thankfully, City Master Link came to support us this time. Otherwise, it would’ve been difficult for us to escape those monsters’ clutches!”
“The holy light can dispel the pollution. We can finally stop worrying about ourselves turning into one of those inhuman, aberrated monsters!”
…
Taking the opportunity to recuperate, some soldiers retrieved water and food from the wrecked camp, purified them, and distributed them to the people.
No Retreat Army’s Priests—wielding staffs—cast recovery magic on the wounded and helped the crowd quickly recover their strength and condition.
One Priest that was holding a scalpel caught Link’s attention.
This Priest was removing aberrated parts for the soldiers who were more severely polluted and couldn’t be completely healed by the holy light.
For example, this young man—who looked like a military doctor—dug out the blood-colored eyeball that grew on a soldier’s arm and threw it on the ground at this moment.
The blood-colored eyeball seemed to have a life of its own and was able to survive by itself. After being dug out, black tentacles formed, and the eyeball tried to escape.
But the young man used the scalpel to stab it completely, turning the eyeball into a puddle of pus and blood.
Link seemed to have met this young man in his past life, but he did not have a deep impression of him.
This scene was brought to the No Retreat Army leader, Zhao Yongkang’s attention, and he introduced him to Link. “That’s Jiang Cheng, who was said to be a doctor before the apocalypse. He has provided a lot of assistance during our encounter with the aberrated monsters.”
After Zhao Yongkang’s explanation, Link learned that the No Retreat Army had suffered great losses in the beginning since it was their first time encountering the aberrated monsters.
Many survivors perished or were aberrated as a result.
It was this young man named ‘Jiang Cheng,’ who had quickly sized up the situation and outlined the three stages of pollution.
The first stage: the victim’s spirit would suffer from initial pollution. Symptoms included evil whispers that rang in one’s ears and non-existent strange black shadows that occasionally appeared before one’s eyes.
In the second stage, the victim’s spirit would suffer from moderate pollution. Aberration would slightly occur on the body, but it wouldn’t affect more than 30% of the whole body. This aberration manifested in the form of additional eyeballs, teeth, or organs that ingested food. The victim’s internal organs would then be exposed on the surface of their body.
In the third stage, the victim’s spirit would suffer from severe pollution, leading them to madness and depravity. Irreversible aberration would occur on more than 70% of the victim’s body, leading to a complete transformation into a monster.
During the first two stages of pollution, one still had hope of being cured. In the third stage, there was basically no hope.
When the No Retreat Army soldiers found themselves—or their comrades around them—at the third stage of pollution, they wouldn’t hesitate to end the lives of the aberrated.
It was because they were able to determine one’s condition from the different stages of pollution that the No Retreat Army was able to secure a stronghold in a short period of time without all of them being aberrated.
It seemed that many capable people had emerged with the apocalypse’s coming.
Link silently remembered the young man’s name.
It was at this moment that Link felt a fluctuation in his spirit. It came from God Devourer Ant and Star Moon.
Since Link was their Summoner, and they originated from him, he was able to communicate with them via his mind.
In the current situation where the communication network was down, making it difficult to communicate with the others, this enabled Link to grasp the situation in Unfallen City immediately.
During the previous battle with the Undead, Link received the news that the Blood Demon Gang was attacking Unfallen City.
Since Link had made contingency plans, he did not make use of the [Ring of Teleportation]’s [So Close, Yet So Far] to teleport back to Unfallen City.
He believed that Unfallen City had the ability to eliminate the Blood Demon Gang, and that was exactly what happened.
At this moment, the spiritual fluctuations coming from God Devourer Ant were to inform Link that Bloodseeker had been decapitated.
Knowing that the Blood Demon Gang had been eliminated, Link gathered his spirit and began to meditate to recover his energy.
…
Over 40 minutes later.
Link opened his eyes. At the same time, Zhao Yongkang gathered the No Retreat Army’s soldiers.
The No Retreat Army had previously delayed the Undead army and most of the aberrated monsters. However, there were still aberrated monsters in the city.
The people who retreated first were also likely to have been polluted by the crowd of Spiderhumans. Their status was unknown at the moment.
Therefore, there could not be any delays. Even if they recuperated, they had to watch the time closely.
Most of the soldiers had recovered their strength. Although it was hard to fight the sleepiness, they were able to continue fighting.
A few heavily wounded were housed at the temporary camps set up, and personnel were arranged to look after them.
Link looked at the crowd lined up in front of him—which was standing at attention—and said in a deep voice, “Let’s go to the altar.”
“Yes!” The No Retreat Army soldiers responded in a resounding voice as they stared at Link, filled with admiration.
After the previous battle, he had become everyone’s support and backbone. He was held in high prestige in the No Retreat Army soldiers’ hearts.
The scene also caught the attention of Zhao Yongkang. But the No Retreat Army’s leader did not feel annoyed. He smiled instead.
Zhao Yongkang was not obsessed with power, and he had recognized Link’s ability. He even thought that there perhaps might be hope in changing the future if he followed this man.
Link led almost 100 No Retreat Army soldiers into the city’s criss-crossing streets.
The sky was dark due to the area being distorted by the God of Evil’s aura. They advanced step by step as if being slowly swallowed by the fog-like darkness…
Chapter 124: Insect Summoner! Aura of the God of Evil!
“Help!”
“It’s Chief Zhao; they’re alive!”
“Chief Zhao, save us! The spider monsters are after us!”
After entering the city’s interior, Link and a group of No Retreat Army soldiers soon met a group of survivors.
There were more than a dozen people in this group, including two children. They were running around in a panic, their faces full of fear.
The ones chasing them were several aberrated Stage Three Spiderhumans, including an elite Spiderhuman—from whom a powerful Stage Four aura emanated.
The path was suddenly lit up by a brilliant holy light. It arched beautifully, and the world seemed to be illuminated by this stunningly pure light!
The six-winged angel Yuna waved her staff, and a blazing white beam of light burst out, sweeping toward several aberrated Spiderhumans.
Six-winged angels—also known as mid-level angels—were responsible for separating the world of gods from the world of humans and maintaining their respective orders.
With Yuna’s promotion to Stage Four, her strength was already close to the peak of a mid-level angel. As a mythical creature, her battle power was enough to crush enemies of the same rank, not to mention aberrated creatures that had been restrained.
Several Spiderhumans were immediately caught in the holy flames and burned to ashes.
The dozen or so rescued [Doomsday Online] players froze. They blankly stared at Yuna as if she were a god who had descended.
The dozen or so of them were all low-level [Doomsday Online] players. Just a few Stage Three Spiderhumans, plus a Stage Four Spiderhuman, were enough to become their nightmare.
But the angel in front of them had wiped out such terrifying monsters with just a wave of her hand, so how could they not be shocked?
Many of the survivors had thoughts of prostrating to Yuna. Some had already fallen to their knees.
“An angel!”
“An angel has come to save us!”
…
Zhao Yongkang—who wanted to make clear the situation as soon as possible—immediately said, “The angel is City Master Link’s summon. It has come to help us get through this. You guys are fine now; where are the others? Were you separated from the large evacuation party?”
When they heard Zhao Yongkang say that the sacred and incomparable angel in front of them was actually someone’s summon, many people were doubly shocked!
The gazes of all the survivors turned to Link, their faces filled with awe.
Just what kind of extraordinary person is he that he can become the master of an angel?
It took a while before someone calmed down enough to reply. “Chief Zhao, shortly after we evacuated, we encountered a blockade from the Black Dragon Gang! In order to protect us, Commander Luo Haoyue led his warriors into a desperate fight against the Black Dragon Gang’s monsters, but one of the Black Dragon Gang’s monsters with a ghastly white face was terrifyingly powerful.”
“Commander Luo Haoyue was overwhelmed and captured by that man! That strange man with the ghastly white face seemed to have an extremely high status in the Black Dragon Gang. He seemed to have specifically come for Commander Luo Haoyue.”
“After the Black Dragon Gang took away Commander Luo, we were then separated by the aberrated monsters. The situation after that is unclear!”
Zhao Yongkang frowned. “They came specifically for Luo Haoyue? Could that strange man be the Black Dragon Gang’s mysterious leader?”
Link frowned slightly at his words. Luo Haoyue—someone he had contact with in his previous life—was one of the No Retreat Army’s Stage Four powerhouses.
Luo Haoyue had a hidden profession of the Summoner class, [Insect Summoner]. She was able to summon aberrated insect creatures to fight for her.
In the next attack—the Zerg swarm—this ability would be very useful. For that reason, Luo Haoyue was also on Link’s mental list of recruits.
However, the Black Dragon Gang had apparently also realized the value of Luo Haoyue, though their specific plans were unknown.
Zhao Yongkang pondered for a moment and said somewhat guiltily, “City Master Link, the evacuation party was separated, and there should be many people who are being chased by the Spiderhumans. I’m afraid we’ll have to split our troops into two.”
“I’ll bring a portion of my men to search for survivors in the city. The altar…”
Link nodded slightly; the altar was something he had to destroy. Otherwise, the distortion here would spread out and affect Unfallen City.
Seeing Link nod, Zhao Yongkang continued speaking. “In that case, we will depend on City Master Link. Once we clear the city of aberrated monsters, we will immediately rush over to support City Master Link.”
Once they finished speaking, the two began to move without delay.
Link continued to move toward the root of the twisted and depraved aura, while Zhao Yongkang led some of his men to sweep the surrounding streets for Spiderhumans and save as many survivors as possible.
The closer they got to the building where the Black Dragon Gang had set up the altar, the more eerie and gruesome the atmosphere became.
It seemed that the darkness here was extraordinarily dense because of the influence of the God of Evil’s aura. It almost had the consistency of water.
Even the originally straight street had been distorted. Withered trees were like twisted ghostly hands welcoming Link and the others.
Huge cocoons lined the street, some of which were moving. This place looked like the center of a huge spider’s nest.
All that could be seen after breaking open many of the cocoons were humans, who had died horribly. Their faces were frozen in despair and fear.
Some cocoons burst open on their own accord when Link and the others approached. From within, small green spiders—the size of a fist—came toward them like a tide.
It was a good thing Yuna was there. The holy light was enough to turn these small spiders into ashes.
Moreover, quite a few Spiderhumans were still roaming around here. The number of elite Stage Four Spiderhumans was also gradually increasing.
After decimating several waves of Spiderhumans, Link and the others finally arrived at the building that continuously emitted a wild and evil aura.
However, this building probably couldn’t be considered a building anymore. It was surrounded by spider silk, looking like a huge cocoon. It was as if an extremely terrifying monster was breeding in it!
Here, everyone felt a terrifying sense of oppression.
The whispers that lingered in their ears became more and more frantic!
A strong feeling of unease—bordering on fear—flooded the No Retreat Army soldiers’ hearts. They felt as if they were headed for death!
Fear grew like a weed in their hearts.
The No Retreat Army soldiers that came with Link all subconsciously stopped in their tracks.
The building seemed to be against all life. It made them shiver in fear! It was as if an invisible, cold hand was clutching their hearts, suffocating them!
Even with Yuna’s [Holy Light Purification], the intensity of the God of Evil’s aura still sent two soldiers into irreversible madness!
It was a good thing that the surrounding No Retreat Army soldiers were experienced in dealing with the aberrated. Hence, they quickly resolved their comrades’ pain.
After such a thing happened, it made Link understand that even the elite [Doomsday Online] players might not be able to step foot inside the building.
The closer they got to the source of the God of Evil’s aura, the more inevitable the aberration and madness—the more inevitable!
Was this the gods?
Only Link—who had the [Fearless Pathfinder] title—wouldn’t be affected by the whispers and spiritual pollution.
Thus, he immediately said, “The next place is the source of the distortion. I will go in by myself. All of you, stay outside. If you can’t stand the effects of the pollution here, just stay further away.”
Chapter 125: Fallen Domain! Spider Statue!
“Lord, it’s too dangerous for you to enter the building alone. Let me go in your place!” Luo Xingyao’s face was a little pale. It was getting difficult for her to resist the evil whispers ringing in her ears.
However, she still stubbornly gritted her teeth and blocked Link’s way.
Luo Xingyao didn’t want to see Link go into the dangerous and unpredictable building alone. But she herself was unclear as to what the specific reason was.
On the other side, Qiao Ruowei also took a step forward. She said grimly, “Let me go instead. I’m good at hiding, and I have a better chance of destroying the altar.”
A group of No Retreat Army soldiers also picked up the conversation, expressing their willingness to follow or go in Link’s place to destroy the God of Evil’s altar.
In the apocalypse, the hearts of people were most visible.
Warmth suffused Link’s heart, but the expression on his face remained serious. He had to do what followed alone.
The pollution and distortion here had reached a terrifying level. The probability of the others turning into aberrated deeper inside was too high. After all, not anyone had the added buffs from the [Fearless Pathfinder] title, which allowed one never to fall into madness and break down.
Moreover, Link had the [Ring of Teleportation]. If something about the situation wasn’t right, he could still teleport away at any time.
Although he was heading to a dangerous place, it wasn’t a place of no return for him.
“No need. All of you wait a little further away. I know what I’m doing.” Link’s calm words fell, powerful and resonating.
Link did not linger. He side-stepped Luo Xingyao and stepped into the building, while the six-winged angel, Yuna, followed closely behind him.
Luo Xingyao and Qiao Ruowei subconsciously wanted to follow Link, but they were stopped by a wave of Yuna’s hand.
“Master has his own plans. The pollution in the building is too much for you to bear. If you don’t want to be a burden to Master, you should follow Master’s instructions.”
Luo Xingyao and Qiao Ruowei knew that Yuna’s words were the truth. Although the two women were reluctant, they could only stop outside the building with the rest of the No Retreat Army’s soldiers.
They silently watched as Link’s slender back disappeared from view as if it was swallowed by the foggy darkness.
In the eyes of the crowd, Link’s back view looked a little sad and desolate at this moment!
The unknown often brought fear. Nobody knew what was in the building; there might even be a God of Evil!
It could be said that this place was incredibly dangerous from the moment a person stepped into it. With the increased distortion and pollution, it was a place where one was more likely to die than live.
Many people clenched their fists and cursed the Black Dragon Gang under their breath.
A few women from the No Retreat Army had already begun to pray silently for Link, hoping that he would return safely.
Luo Xingyao and Qiao Ruowei also clenched their pink fists. Their hearts were filled with apprehension, though their gazes remained steady.
After all, Link had never let anyone down thus far. Both of them had an almost worshipful trust in him.
“The Lord will definitely return safely. The pollution near the building is too severe; let’s retreat to a safe distance and wait for the Lord to return,” said Luo Xingyao somberly.
The No Retreat Army soldiers did not object.
At this moment, it was pitch black inside the building.
The darkness seemed almost tangible as it caressed Link’s body. There was resistance as he walked through it. It felt as if he were walking through water.
There was also a slippery feeling underfoot. It felt as if they were walking on some kind of flesh, and it emitted a strange squelching sound.
Even Yuna—surrounded by swirling holy light as the staff in her hand glowed brightly—could only illuminate a small area around her in this incomparably bizarre environment.
Using the holy light’s illumination, Link scrutinized the surrounding environment.
This place was indeed the source of aberration, and it was incomparably twisted. The surrounding walls, ceilings, and floors were covered with dark-brown flesh.
Link and Yuna seemed to be walking in the body of some huge creature. These flesh-like walls were like a living thing, breathing and trembling.
Fear, despair, depravity, and blasphemy filled every corner and saturated the air.
Even the Holy Angel, Yuna, didn’t look too good. Link was also being attacked by fear and madness.
If an ordinary person were to witness such a sight, they would most likely have been distorted and aberrated long ago.
But under the effects of [Fearless]—a passive skill—a misty glow rippled out of Link’s body, resisting the darkness around it.
As Link’s summon, Yuna was also partially affected by [Fearless]. Together with her own divine attributes, she was able to resist the attacks.
Link and Yuna followed the source of the evil aura and went deeper. During this, Link took out the [Mask of the Faceless] and covered his face with it.
This piece of equipment was also a part of chaos, and it had the passive skill, [Faceless].
The wearer would receive the chaos’s protection. The wearer also couldn’t be deduced, spotted, and identified.
To destroy the Spider God’s altar, one must naturally be well prepared. After all, existences at the level of gods all possessed great power beyond human imagination. Even a single thought from them was enough to cause disaster.
Link did not want to be targeted by a god just yet.
The source of the distortion came from underground—where the original building’s basement should be. However, the original staircases and elevators had disappeared without a trace.
The way to the lower floor from the upper floor had been transformed into a hole full of spikes—which looked like a giant mouth full of teeth.
As Link and Yuna approached, the giant mouth seemed to sense the unfamiliar auras. It let out a strange hiss.
With the hissing sound, numerous Stage Three and Stage Four Spiderhumans quickly crawled out of the hole. They then lunged at Link and Yuna.
Without hesitation, Link wielded the [King’s sword] and swung it. With his current battle power, he was able to suppress Stage Five monsters and even Stage Six monsters.
These aberrated monsters were no match for him. They were churned into a puddle of flesh by the raging sword.
Link minced the fleshy ground and leaped underground.
The deeper they went, the more bizarre the sights were.
A number of aberrated Spiderhumans were gathered in the basement. On the flesh walls were cocoon-like bulges.
More aberrated monsters were apparently being bred.
This place had become something like a domain.
As Link had expected, this place would definitely become a hotbed for the God of Evil’s birth if the altar was not dealt with in time.
…
At the same time, in the second level of the building’s basement.
A huge altar stood here. If one examined it carefully, they would see that every part of the altar was made of piled-up human bones and limbs. It was bloody and horrifying.
There was a strangely shaped spider statue on the altar! The twisted and evil aura emanated from this statue.
Three twisted, spider-like figures respectfully kneeled under the altar.
These three figures were much bigger than the other aberrated monsters. The suppression emanating from their bodies was even more terrifying. They were obviously the most powerful of the Spiderhumans.
These three Spiderhumans’ eyes suddenly flickered with a green, ghostly aura, and an evil whisper followed.
“A human is approaching.”
“Finally…”
Chapter 126: God of Evil’s High Priest! Might of the Mask!
Hiss!
Amidst the sharp cries, a Stage Four Spiderhuman’s mouth opened like flower petals and spurted out a blob of green liquid, which flew toward Link and Yuna.
A foul wind came!
But before the liquid touched the corners of Link’s clothes, a ball of brilliant holy light bloomed at the area.
Like a big sun exploding at the place, golden holy flames swept across this slightly blocked-up space!
The sticky green liquid and sea of Spiderhumans were burnt into ashes!
The monsters’ agonizing cries sounded without end.
A considerable number of monsters were in the basement, but before Link and Yuna’s powerful combat ability, they were completely unable to cause trouble.
Moreover, Link also astutely discovered some peculiarities during the battle.
The majority of the low-level Spiderhumans would madly attack Yuna. But when it came to him, they appeared to be quite cowardly, or rather, fearful.
Is it because the [Mask of the Faceless]’s status is too high that it made these Spiderhumans fearful?
This thought flashed through Link’s heart. He then recalled Yuna into the void and faced the numerous Spiderhumans alone.
The Spiderhumans—who were originally insane and restless—instantly calmed down.
Some low-level Spiderhumans, who’d just hatched, even crouched down before Link, trembling! It was just like how ants could only tremble and play up to the dragons when set against them!
Even the Stage Three Spiderhumans stopped their movements. They seemed to be afraid, frightened by the aura that Link radiated.
Only the exceedingly few Stage Four Spiderhumans expressed hostility toward the invader, Link. But they barely released some cries, seemingly very terrified too.
After testing the mask’s effects for a while, the corners of Link’s mouth rose slightly. It seems that the [Mask of the Faceless] is indeed an extraordinarily powerful piece of equipment.
He let Yuna out once more and quickly cleaned up the Spiderhumans on this floor.
Link could sense that there were even more frightening existences on the next floor.
After cleaning up the aberrated monsters on this floor, Link split open the flesh wall beneath his feet without hesitation and entered the basement’s second level.
A massive altar—formed using the bones and distorted limbs of human beings—instantly came into sight.
Meanwhile, the faintly discernible murmurs—which had been echoing within the building the entire time—also reached the peak at this moment!
This was the source of the God of Evil’s aura!
It was as if certain existences were chanting and extolling the extremely noble god using a language and tone that humankind couldn’t comprehend.
Brilliance bloomed around Link—it was [Fearless], a passive skill, taking effect.
Link appeared like a god roaming the world, unaffected by the invasion of madness.
Beneath the massive altar were three aberrated Spiderhumans. Presently, they had all stood up, watching Link and Yuna, these two unwelcome guests. They then emitted a warped yet powerful suppression.
These three Spiderhumans had all reached Stage Five! They were top powerhouses that had surpassed humanity; they were like the worst nightmares to most humans at the current stage!
Black needle-like long hair covered them entirely, and their body surfaces gleamed with a metal-like luster.
Faint green glows flickered as six pairs of spider eyes blinked—their distorted faces made one shudder with terror!
A notification also entered Link’s mind at this moment.
[Spiderhuman High Priest]
Race: Lower Servant
Level: Stage 5, Level 4
Introduction: Servant of the Spider God, Atlas Nakya. They are transformed from a fanatic follower, extolling His greatness all day long. They—who have received the Spider God’s favor—are ruthless and cold-blooded. They will cause mental pollution to the feeble-minded, inducing madness and aberration.
…
Link scrutinized the aberrated monsters before him, his eyes slightly narrowed.
These three Stage Five aberrated monsters were enough to destroy the No Retreat Army completely!
Fortunately—for some unknown reason—these three Spiderhuman High Priests had been keeping guard by this altar the whole time. Otherwise, the No Retreat Army wouldn’t have been able to last till his rescue at all.
To destroy the altar, Link clearly needed to annihilate these three aberrated monsters first.
Presently, the three Spiderhuman High Priests did not launch an attack against Link immediately.
They looked at Link’s face, slight surprise revealing in their eyes!
Hoarse, piercing voices then sounded.
“This… This is the aura of a god. Why is there a god’s aura on you?”
So much so that, due to gazing at the [Mask of the Faceless] on Link’s face for a long period of time, the two phantom-green eyes of a Spiderhuman High Priest directly burst. Green liquid also splattered!
Aberrated monsters all possessed powerful self-healing abilities and high vitality.
But this Spiderhuman High Priest’s eyeballs—which had popped—did not regrow. Instead, they became two spiral openings.
These openings were very similar to the black whirlpools drawn on the [Mask of the Faceless]. In addition, the spiral openings seemed to be constantly ripping up the Spiderhuman High Priest’s flesh and blood.
Piteous cries resounded in the second level of the basement.
This was [Counter Pollution]!
Even Link was slightly surprised. The mask on his face was actually able to counter-pollute and affect the monster before him.
This not only showed that the mask had a high status, but it also indicated the [Mask of the Faceless]’s source. That indescribable existence… His position was probably even higher than that of the Spider God!
The mask’s background should be extremely frightening.
The two other Spiderhuman High Priests forced themselves to retract their gaze; they did not dare to look above Link’s neck again.
The spider statue on the altar was also trembling lightly. It had seemingly sensed the threat; the aura emanating from the statue became increasingly twisted and mad…
“No matter which god’s envoy you are, those who intrude into the altar without permission must die!”
The three Spiderhuman High Priests very quickly recovered to their senses from the initial surprise. They let out hoarse cries and launched attacks at Link.
One Spiderhuman High Priest opened its large, bloody mouth and spurted out a large mass of green energy.
The green energy turned into a massive net in mid-air, enveloping Link and Yuna inside it.
The massive net radiated a strange aura. It felt as if one would fall into an endless illusion once they came into contact with it.
Link was on-guard in his heart, and the [Spring and Autumn Sword Technique] was instantly launched!
The [King’s Sword] in his hand released a golden glow, and streaks of sword energy burst forth—tempestuous, swift, and fierce!
A piercing sword intent instantly filled the entire basement’s second level. It felt like a sword immortal had arrived, and the temperature dropped sharply!
The massive net was torn apart by the sword energy that danced wildly!
At the side, Yuna also swung her staff immediately. A ball of holy light energy instantly slammed toward the three Spiderhuman High Priests like a meteor!
[Holy Light Purification]!
Boom!
Amidst the roar, a Spiderhuman High Priest forcefully endured Yuna’s attack. As a result, holy flames burned his multiple brawny, long legs.
But without the slightest hesitation, this Spiderhuman High Priest actually tore these few limbs off directly!
Flesh and blood at the torn-off limb areas wriggled. New limbs grew out very quickly and came pouncing toward Link.
The frightening spider legs were covered in barbs, and the ends were extremely sharp. They tore through the air, whistling as winds rose!
Once penetrated, the barbs would be nailed to the prey’s insides, causing secondary damage in the process of dragging!
With such a quick and ferocious attack, even a Stage Four powerhouse would be killed on the spot!
Chapter 127: Killing the High Priests! Counter Pollution!
The [King’s Sword] let out a flourishing sharp light. The sword energy all over Link surged like a tide and swept toward the Spiderhuman High Priest.
A roar instantly exploded in the basement!
The repercussions of the battle ripped up hideous slits in the ground made of flesh!
The might that burst out from the two’s collision was comparable to that of a Stage Six being. The quake had the entire basement’s first level shaking!
If it weren’t because the area had already been influenced by the heretic god’s aura and turned into a special [Domain], it would certainly collapse.
The Spiderhuman High Priest was relying on the fact that it was in this unique [Domain]—this basement level was already deeply twisted.
The flesh walls all around were covered in strange and heretical runes, outlined using fresh blood. There were even hearts, skulls, and the like placed on the important nodal points.
As such, the Spiderhuman High Priest’s capabilities tremendously amplified in this area!
On the other hand, Link relied on his own exceedingly high attributes. All his equipment—which were Legend or Myth-grade—had also further raised his attributes, making him strong enough to resist a Stage Six existence!
Within seconds, the two collided multiple times with a terrifying force.
The Spiderhuman High Priest’s sharp chelicerae were all broken; Link even sent it flying, and it crashed hard into the flesh-made ground.
The remaining two Spiderhuman High Priests could not restrain themselves from looking full of terror!
One must know that the suppression emitting from the human before them was merely Stage Four, yet he had completely repressed a Stage Five Spiderhuman in battle!
This place was their home ground! Yet, they were being crushed by a Stage Four human? How was that possible!?
Some uneasiness and chilliness rose in the two aberrated monsters’ hearts presently.
They both acted, seeking to finish off the enemy before them as quickly as possible.
One Spiderhuman High Priest opened its mouth that was full of fangs. Green spiders—the size of a fist and mixed with a sticky liquid—poured out of its mouth and swarmed toward Link.
Meanwhile, the other Spiderhuman High Priest waved the staff, made from human bones, in its hand!
The runes that densely covered the basement’s second level instantly released a scarlet-red glow!
The surroundings became even darker and more twisted. Under the invasion of a strange strength, the murmuring whispers became even more intense, inducing one to fall into an eternal illusion.
Even Holy Angel Yuna’s present countenance had become more ghastly. Due to the array’s influence, her spirit had drooped. It seemed as if she would be dragged into an illusion at any time.
At this moment, Link depended on [Fearless]’s effects to withstand the mental impact and influence.
But the array’s effects weren’t just targeted at one’s spirit. Even Link’s body started to feel extremely fatigued, and his eyelids seemed to weigh a thousand tons! It felt as if an icy-cold palm was currently resting on Link’s face, wanting to close his eyes!
Link had to settle the battle as soon as possible. He was taken aback in his heart, and he launched the [Mask of the Faceless]’s active skill!
[God of Evil’s Whispers]!
Somehow, there seemed to be a supreme being who cast His gaze and influence at this area.
The three Spiderhuman High Priests’ bodies trembled violently! In a trance, they witnessed an exceedingly terrifying scene.
The light and space behind Link distorted. A twisted, chaotic, and indescribable black figure then seemed to appear!
An overwhelming suppression and aura came from the black figure—it was inexhaustible chaos and madness!
This figure was surely a supreme god; just the figure’s aura was enough to make the three Spiderhuman High Priests feel fear and shudder!
The [God of Evil’s Whispers]’s effect and the area’s unique array effect overlapped one another!
Link and Yuna instantly felt their bodies’ exhaustion ease significantly.
The little, green spiders that swarmed toward the both of them stopped moving in unison. They let out painful cries and then exploded, becoming some kind of disgusting green liquid.
The voice of madness—filled with blasphemy and degeneration—sounded by the three Spiderhuman High Priests’ ears. Even as aberrated creatures, they actually could not resist!
There seemed to be many cirri and arms stretching out from the surrounding darkness, seeking to enclose them!
Under the [God of Evil’s Whispers]’s influence, even their absolute faith in the Spider God saw a change.
[Aberration] not of spider form occurred within the three Spiderhuman High Priests’ bodies!
Masses of flesh swelled, and cirri and eyes emerged on the surface of their bodies!
[Counter Pollution]!
The [Mask of the Faceless]’s potency set chills in one’s heart.
In Link and Yuna’s field of vision.
The three Spiderhuman High Priests were frozen in place.
An indescribable black shadow wound around them, nestled up against their cheeks, and whispered intimately…
Seeing that all three Spiderhuman High Priests had fallen into this peculiar state, Link did not hesitate to strike again.
The [King’s Sword] swung out, launching an offense at the Spiderhuman High Priest who had sunk into the flesh-made ground.
A strong power of death suffused from Link as if a deathly still Styx flowed around him!
A figure shrouded beneath a cloak and a hood appeared behind Link!
A mist of death swept across, and the space shuddered—He seemed to be Death itself!
A massive silver sickle—gleaming with a startling cold glow—arrived at the same time as the [King’s Sword]’s blade and harvested life!
It was [Death Judgment]!
Crack!
This strike had luckily triggered the instant death effect!
The Spiderhuman High Priest’s hideous body instantly broke into pieces! The splattering pieces appeared withered as if they’d long decayed—all vitality was destroyed!
The two other Spiderhuman High Priests seemed to have sensed danger. They violently struggled as if they wanted to break free of that frightening state.
Link’s gaze was cold, his mental strength swiftly spread out.
Many translucent cirri appeared in the empty air and went killing towards the closest enemy!
[Cirrus Limbs]!
The air seemed to be whipped open by the steel whip-like cirri, letting out fearsome booms.
And in the next instant, the cirri had already penetrated a Spiderhuman High Pries’s bodyt!
Flesh and blood flew in all directions!
The influence of the cirri—together with the [God of Evil’s Whispers]’s pollution—had this Spiderhuman High Priest directly deviate from his faith in the Spider God.
His whole body continuously aberrated, directly crumbling into a large mass of bloated flesh. The cirri then minced it.
At this point, the other Spiderhuman High Priest finally broke free of the [God of Evil’s Whispers]’s control.
Multiple large chelicerae came slashing toward Link, wanting to tear his body up!
The cirri instantly retracted and turned into a huge shield before Link!
Boom!
Amidst the roar, the Spiderhuman High Priest was thrown back by the counterforce. Link’s mental strength was also greatly depleted.
Presently, Yuna swung out balls of holy light energy. They flew toward the Spiderhuman High Priest like cannonballs.
Link also launched [Holy Charge] at the same time. The [King’s Sword] in his grip and the cirrus limbs—transformed from mental strength—went thrusting toward the Spiderhuman High Priest together!
Even the Spiderhuman High Priest could not counter this terrifying attack. Fear and despair flashed through those six sinister pupils!
But at the next moment, the Spiderhuman High Priest’s twisted limbs were directly crushed!
The three Stage Five aberrated monsters were all dead!
Golden holy flames burned on those tattered broken limbs.
Link and Yuna walked among the holy flames, slowly moving up that heretical and strange altar!
The two people’s shadows flickered in the flames’ light, appearing to be peerlessly huge!
Chapter 128: Destroying the Altar! Facing the God!
At the top of the altar stood a statue with a shape similar to a spider.
Distorted runes, drawn using fresh blood, were in front of the statue, and it seemed to be this heretic god’s name.
This statue was as tall as a person, and a God of Evil’s aura came from it.
This statue’s true form could not be described; it was very abstract and distorted. After all, the so-called gods were something humankind could not understand or touch.
Everything about the gods’ appearances were merely the visions of humankind. Even their names were humankind’s transliteration; no one knew the gods’ real names.
Yuna, who possessed holy attributes, had a strong aversion toward this statue in her heart. “Master, this statue is probably the medium the Black Dragon Gang uses to communicate with the God of Evil. If we destroy it immediately, this area should no longer be affected by the God of Evil’s aura.”
Link nodded lightly, and the [King’s Sword] in his hand and the cirrus limbs harshly slashed at the statue!
The air was instantly ripped apart, and a boom sounded!
Yuna also wielded her staff. A ball of brilliant holy light went smashing toward the statue!
The two people’s attributes and combat ability far exceeded peers of the same level. Presently, acting without reservations, the might that burst out had reached the magnitude of a Stage Six!
Boom!
Amidst the roar, the statue—made of an unknown material—cracked at every inch!
But even after the statue exploded, the six gems on the statue—which acted as the spider’s eyes—did not break. Instead, they gathered together and released a misty radiance!
A strange and frightening aura instantly spread through the air!
Cracks actually surfaced in the world before Link and Yuna’s eyes. They swiftly extended like a spiderweb and then broke like a mirror!
The two of them seemed to have fallen into an endless illusion; the scene in front of their eyes changed speedily!
Dense, interlaced spider silk appeared before Link.
These spiderwebs were extraordinarily huge. Like pillars that connected to heaven, they hung in the world. The scene was appalling!
It was as if Link and Yuna had fallen into the nest of a certain giant spider.
But deep inside those spiderwebs seemed to be a peerlessly great, vast, and indescribable figure present!
A mere passing glance, and Link and Yuna had lowered their heads instinctively, shifting their gazes away.
They only saw a shadow that was jet black like the abyss.
When they wanted to take another look, they instinctively sensed extreme danger!
One mustn’t look directly at a god! Just looking would bring about infinite disaster and destruction! Even if that God of Evil had not noticed them at this time!
The world before their eyes was filled with the God of Evil’s aura; it was no longer part of the physical world already!
This was the Spider God, Atlas Nakya!
He existed in the depths of dreamlands! He was always constantly weaving a massive net, setting up a bridge between the sober world and dreams.
Many people believed that the bridge would be completed once he finished weaving the net and that the apocalyptic world would arrive following that!
This was an indescribable God of Evil. He was currently sleeping soundly in the depths of the dreamlike spiderwebs.
His broad physique could not be described; the air currents that he breathed out were like a gentle breeze but also the abyss’s miasma. It made one fearful!
Facing the god, fear and madness constantly hit Link and Yuna!
Even with [Fearless]’s protection, the two people still felt immense uneasiness and crisis in their hearts!
How did we get here? Link wondered inwardly, but he was still calm. He activated [Ring of Teleportation]’s active skill—[So Close, Yet So Far]—at the first moment.
This skill could mark a total of five nodes in space, and it could allow the user to return to the marked space nodes.
Following his thoughts, the [Ring of Teleportation] in Link’s hand lit up with a silver glow.
But it did not bring the duo out of this dreadful, nightmare-like place immediately.
A notification entered Link’s mind.
[Ding! Detected that you are in a special space—Dreamlands. Due to the influence of the God of Evil’s aura, space teleportation cannot be accomplished immediately.]
[Teleportation countdown; 10… 9… 8…]
Even the [Ring of Teleportation]’s teleportation ability was restricted here! Fortunately, the restriction had merely delayed the teleportation time. If it were to restrict teleportation directly, Link and Yuna would probably have to remain here forever, becoming the Spider God’s food!
Every second spent waiting seemed like an eternity. The uneasiness and sense of crisis that filled Link and Yuna’s heart became even stronger!
The Spider God resting in the spiderwebs’ depths seemed like He was just about to leave the state that was between dream and reality. Once He awoke, it would be equivalent to death arriving!
Finally, the countdown was about to end!
Link’s eyes narrowed slightly. The cirrus limbs reached out and cut off a portion of the spider silk from the massive spiderwebs.
Coming to the God of Evil’s abode meant bearing extreme danger, so Link wasn’t willing to make a trip here in vain.
One must know that everything which existed here had to do with the God of Evil. Stained with the God of Evil’s aura, they would certainly be materials of extremely high quality.
Together with [Supreme Blessing]—which was Link’s talent ability—Link could further increase the items’ quality!
The gains this time would certainly be beyond imagination!
Of course, if Link’s act of pulling out the heretic god’s hair was learned by the Spider God, it would certainly incur his terrifying fury.
In reality, as a piece of spider silk was cut off, the sense of crisis in Link and Yuna’s heart also soared to the peak.
It seemed like the frightening God of Evil was about to wake up!
Fortunately, the countdown had completely ended!
Link and Yuna’s figures instantly vanished from the area.
Not long after, that massive, indescribable spider slowly lifted His eyelids. Of the six spider eyes, four were shut. Only two were open, and it seemed as if worlds were being annihilated in those deep eyes!
The Spider God sensed that someone had left and had taken part of His spider silk. He conveyed an emotion of rage!
A frightening aura instantly shook in the spiderwebs’ depths; the darkness boiled at once like a tide!
A magnificent voice—which humankind could not comprehend—sounded; it sounded like a soft ‘eh.’
“Hmm? Who stole my spider silk? This aura is a little familiar.” The Spider God, Atlas Nakya, began to deduce, intending to lock onto the visitor that came uninvited. How dare they steal my spider silk and disrespect me? They naturally have to bear boundless fury and destruction!
But a hint of surprise soon flashed across Atlas Nakya’s heart. He actually could not get any information about that thief.
Atlas Nakya was rather surprised. Those massive spider eyes on His body opened successively, and the aura He emitted also became even scarier!
Even when all six of His spider eyes were open, He was still unable to learn the thief’s information. The only thing He got was chaos!
“Chaos?!” The frightening aura shook for a long time before the Spider God recovered His calm. The six spider eyes then closed in succession once more.
…
Presently, Link and Yuna had already returned from the Dreamlands and were back in the basement’s second level.
The coordinates that Link had marked for teleportation was outside the building. It was probably due to the influence of the God of Evil’s aura that a certain extent of deviation happened to the teleporation position.
Link and Yuna—who had just returned from the dreadful place—had yet to get over their fear.
Moments later, Link stretched his hands out and brought out a piece of spider silk. This was his gain from this trip!
Chapter 129: Return! Witness of the Myth!
The piece of spider silk was lustrous and translucent, emitting an aura that did not belong to this world. Even space seemed to warp because of it as the heretical and strange aura spread.
Yuna had been concentrating her energy earlier to resist the invasion of the God of Evil’s aura. Hence, she was not aware of Link’s little trick.
Seeing this piece of spider silk now, she couldn’t help but part her red lips slightly. Surprise was written all over her holy face!
“This is…” Yuna shut her mouth timely. Existences at the tier of the gods couldn’t be comprehended, deduced, or have their names mentioned. Doing any of this could attract their attention.
Link did not explain further. He only nodded lightly, indicating his affirmation.
Yuna was even more shocked in her heart. It was as though a huge rock—weighing 1,000 jin—had been thrown into the lake that was her heart, stirring up a great splash!
Her master had actually pulled out the God of Evil’s hair and returned alive!
One had to know that the other party was a god. Every god of them had staggering power!
Following Link’s gaze, the information of this piece of spider silk also entered Link’s mind.
[Spider God’s Silk]
Grade: Myth-grade material
Introduction: Silk of the Spider God, Atlas Nakya. It is also a portion of the bridge between the physical world and the Dreamlands.
…
A touch of joy rose in Link’s heart. As expected, it was indeed a Myth-grade material.
Link really looked forward to knowing what the grade of the item—which he would ultimately get after the material underwent [Supreme Blessing]—would be!
But Link did not use [Supreme Blessing] on the spider silk immediately.
This area was too strange; it actually caused him and Yuna to fall into the Dreamlands. It wouldn’t be too late to check his gains after getting to a safe place first.
Just this piece of God of Evil’s silk was already a gain that the average person could not imagine.
In the altar’s surroundings, many of the aberrated creatures’ limbs still remained after being burned by the holy flames. They gleamed with a jet-black cold light.
These were pretty good materials as well. Due to coming from Stage Five Spiderhuman High Priests, their firmness and might both far surpassed commonality.
Moreover, after being purified once by Yuna using holy flames, the pollution it caused to the human body was within an acceptable range.
If it were to be handed to those with [Craftsman] professions, they would certainly be able to forge some pretty good chaotic equipment.
Of course, it would certainly be no match for Link’s [Mask of the Faceless].
But at the current stage, it was already difficult for [Doomsday Online] players to be fully armed.
Link put all those huge chelicerae into the system backpack one by one, intending to toss them to Fatty Lu Da when he got back.
The few spider eye gems that had brought him and Yuna into the Dreamlands earlier were all crushed now. There were only threads of aura remaining.
These few gems had probably been tainted by the God of Evil’s aura, so they had the ability to open the Dreamlands’ passageway. However, they could only do so once.
The God of Evil’s statue was destroyed, and the source of its aura in this area had already vanished.
The suppression and feeling of twistedness—which the basement’s second level gave one—instantly depleted sharply.
But the flesh-made ground and ceiling——these features were already deeply aberrated—did not return to their original state.
The God of Evil’s aura had semi-permanently changed this place.
Link and Yuna walked down the altar.
The corpses’ stench was still strong.
They surveyed this space that was covered in humans bones and limbs, and a hint of disgust flashed across both their faces.
So many people had lost their lives because of the Black Dragon Gang. If Undead creatures were a plane invasion—a calamity—then the scene before their eyes would be human evil through and through!
Calamities were difficult to predict, while human evils couldn’t be forgiven!
The Black Dragon Gang’s existence was a mistake!
“Yuna, release holy flames. Let them rest in peace.” Finally, Link let out a sigh and left this space of sin with a solemn countenance.
Golden holy flames blazed, burning down the massive altar. Expressions of deliverance seemed to emerge on those broken corpses’ faces.
It was also right then that a system notification suddenly sounded in Link’s mind.
“Ding! Detected that you have faced a mythical creature and returned safely.”
“As you are the first player on Blue Star to face a mythical creature, you have acquired a title, [Witness of the Myth]!”
“A world-wide announcement will be made! Do you need your personal details concealed?”
After listening to the system’s voice, Link’s footsteps faltered slightly, and the corner of his lips could not help curving up slightly.
He actually acquired a title again!
The [Fearless Pathfinder] title that Link had obtained previously… The title skill that it gave him was rather awesome.
One could even say that if it weren’t for the [Fearless] passive, Link—who’d faced the God of Evil—certainly would’ve aberrated.
His body and spirit would either turn into the Spider God’s food or fall into endless madness and gradually die out.
It could be said that, having tasted the marrow, Link’s longing for its savor grew. Now that he had gotten a title again—even being the calm man that he was—he could not help feeling a speck of heat rise in his heart.
“Conceal personal details,” replied Link via his thoughts. He then began examining the effects that came with the title.
[Witness of the Myth]
Introduction: Person who has faced the gods and discerned a corner of the universe’s cruel truth. To become a defiler, godslayer who destroys the gods, or to grovel and worship at the gods’ feet, offering your own faith like a reptile…
Additional skill 1: [Facing the Myth] (Passive Skill): You have understood a portion of the universe’s truth. When facing mythical creatures, you are immune to 30% of the physical and magic damage received, and damage is increased by 50%!
Additional Skill 2: [God’s Aura] (Passive Skill): You, who have been stained by the god’s aura, have gained an exceptional ability. In battle, you can release a godly aura, causing awe in creatures lower than Myth-grade. (Has a chance of triggering rigidity, fear, lowered damage, madness, and more negative effects.)
…
After seeing this title’s effects, a hint of confusion flashed involuntarily through Link’s eyes.
These two passive skills were indeed awesome, but they seemed to contain hints of wanting to make him a godslayer.
Increased damage and partial immunity to mythical creatures… It truly made him unable to help but overthink.
But Link wasn’t fearful. He had some unhappy memories with both the God of Death and the Spider God. Thus, he also felt it would be good to become a godslayer.
However, Link also understood that he certainly still had a very long way to go. After all, his current level was still Stage Four.
Although he had killed a large number of monsters, Link required an abnormally large amount of EXP to level up because he had dual professions—one which was also a Taboo-grade one!
Link pondered on while walking out of the building with Yuna.
At this time, a world-wide announcement also sounded in all[Doomsday Online] players’ minds.
[The Blue Star’s first player to face the gods, learn a corner of the universe’s cruel truth, and return safely has appeared! Person who faced the gods: XXX, Profession: Death Judge!]
Boom!
All of a sudden, this announcement could be said to have shaken Blue Star!
Countless people were frozen then and there—as if struck by lightning—unable to utter a word!
Everyone—who was originally watching Link and Yuna walk out of the building and looking full of joy and excitement—was also stunned at that moment!
Both Qiao Ruowei and Luo Xingyao were a little dazed. Confusion was also written all over the No Retreat Army soldiers’ faces!
What situation is this?!
Was there really a God of Evil inside the building?! City Master Link faced that God of Evil?
