Chapter 2335: Promise Me

Tan Jing knew that this person was sent by the Huang family. She immediately changed her clothes and followed closely behind the person. The woman let Tan Jing tag along as she pushed the rubbish cart down the corridor.

“Don’t make any sound. Keep your head down and follow closely behind me,” the woman whispered.

There was no obstruction along the way and no one stopped them. There was already someone waiting for Tan Jing outside. She was pushed into the car and they promptly left the mental hospital.

The car sped on the road, as if they were on the run. Tan Jing sized up the person sitting in front. She seemed to recognize him. He was one of the Huang family’s regular hired thugs and was the one who did many shady things for them.

“If this is such a good deal, why aren’t you the one carrying out the task? Why do they need me to do it?” Tan Jing asked.

“Hey, why are you so talkative! Do whatever they tell you to do!” the man said.

Tan Jing looked down and smiled. If the Huang family had to make use of her to kill Qiao Mei, that must mean there was really no able person left in the family. She wondered if she should classify the Huang family as smart or stupid?

“Where are we headed?” Tan Jing asked.

“To a place where there is no one!” the man said.

Tan Jing waved her hand and said, “Take me home. I need to get my things.”

The man looked at Tan Jing warily. She spread her hands and said, “Where can I go in this state? The news of me disappearing from the mental hospital will probably spread by tomorrow morning. At that time, the Xia family will search the entire city for me. I won’t be able to leave the capital. I just want to go home and get the things I need.”

“Fine. I’ll be watching you closely.” After saying that, the man drove to Tan Jing’s maternal home. Other than that place, there was no other place which Tan Jing would refer to as her home.

The man decided to keep a close eye on Tan Jing even if he could not follow her around. If she ran away, he would have to be the one to carry out this task! He certainly did not want to offend the Xia family because of the Huang family!

After Tan Jing got out of the car, the man followed closely behind her. She raised her hand and knocked on the door. Tan Bo was shocked when he opened the door. He did not expect her to be out tonight.

“What are you doing back here! Leave immediately!” Tan Bo said in a low voice.

“This is my home. Why can’t I come back? I’m just here to see all of you. It’s been a long time since we last met. You must have missed me too.” Tan Jing walked into the house without a care.

Tan Jing moved around the house in a familiar manner and started to pack her things. It had been a long time since she could shower comfortably and she wanted to enjoy it tonight.

The Xia family received the news very quickly. In less than four hours, Xia Wen got the news that Tan Jing had escaped from the mental hospital.

Mo Zhu got up in a daze and asked, “Who is it? What happened?”

“It’s nothing. Go back to sleep. I’ll go out to take the call.” Xia Wen hung up the phone in the bedroom and walked to the living room to reconnect the call.

“Who did it?” Xia Wen asked sternly.

“A cleaner. We found out that this person is the eldest sister of Huang Zhong’s wife. She must have been following the Huang family’s orders,” said the person on the other end of the phone.

“Where is Tan Jing now? Have you found out?” Xia Wen asked.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone before the person said, “I’m sorry, we still don’t know yet.”

Xia Wen immediately hung up and made a call to Qiao Mei. It was a long time before the phone was picked up and she said irritably, “Who is it?”

“It’s me, Xia Wen. Get someone to guard the door well. Everyone entering and leaving must be checked thoroughly. Don’t let the children come back for the time being. It’s safer for them to continue staying in the army base,” Xia Wen said.

Qiao Mei’s sleepiness immediately disappeared. Something serious must have happened for Xia Wen to say that.

“What’s the matter? What happened?” Qiao Mei asked.

“Tan Jing has escaped. It’s already been a few hours. Don’t go out for the time being. I’ll get someone to send food to your house. Make sure no one leaves your house,” Xia Wen said.

Qiao Mei hesitated for a moment before saying, “Yes, I know.”

“This is not child’s play! Qiao Mei, don’t make me worry about you.” Xia Wen reminded her again.

“Don’t worry, Elder Brother. I promise you,” Qiao Mei said.

After a short discussion, the two of them ended the phone call. Qiao Mei sat in front of the phone and stared into space for a while. After thinking for a while, she returned to the bedroom to continue sleeping. To her, nothing was more important than her beauty sleep.

Xia Wen arranged for a big team to investigate Tan Jing’s whereabouts and thereafter to set up an ambush nearby. So long as Tan Jing did not actually hurt anyone from the Xia family, she was free to go around. He wanted to catch her in the act so that he could have a reason to put her away.

Unexpectedly, Tan Jing did not do anything. She stayed at home quietly for the past two days and did not go anywhere.
