Chapter 9 Bosom Friends
Qin Shu lived with Tang Anru in the interns’ dormitory allocated by the No.1 Military Industry Group.
The two girls knew each other since childhood, but were separated after some bad things happened.
They met again at university and happened to take the same major in the same class, and live in the same dorm. And now, they were both interns in the secretariat of the No.1 Military Industry Group.
In the eyes of others, Tang Anru was gentle, kind, pure and beautiful, a goddess loved by all.
Qin Shu, however, was uninhibited and shameless…. Well, Qin Shu had a bad reputation in the National Defense University, and there was a widespread rumor in the Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures that she liked seducing men.
Qin Shu herself was puzzled about her bad reputation: she had no boyfriend, nor did she steal anyone else’s boyfriend or hook up with boys; and she got along properly with the boys in her class. Why were they saying she liked seducing men?
Besides, who said only men were allowed to seduce women in this world, but not the other way around? People were not living in the feudal society anymore!
Tang Anru was a restrained girl while Qin Shu was defiant of conventions. Many people couldn’t understand why they became best friends.
Qin Shu was also one of them, to be honest.
Everyone believed she and Tang Anru were bosom friends, but in fact Qin Shu wasn’t sure whether Tang Anru saw her as a bosom friend.
Nevertheless, Qin Shu knew clearly that she never saw Tang Anru as her bosom friend.
She just saw Tang Anru as a big creditor.
Her father owed Tang Anru two lives and she had to pay the debt for him.
Hence she was willing to be a foil for Tang Anru. Qin Shu didn’t care about what others thought of her. She would never vie for anything Tang Anru wanted.
Everyone said that it must be Qin Shu who knew no shame but clung on to Tang Anru. She should look in the mirror to see how slutty and shameless she was compared with the pure and dignified Tang Anru.
It would be a pity if she led the good girl astray!
But in fact, ever since they entered university, Tang Anru had frequently tried to appeal to Qin Shu. She told everyone that Qin Shu was a good friend of her since childhood.
Qin Shu, a debtor, wasn’t so shameless as to push Tang Anru away.
So during the four years of university life, she was Tang Anru’s bosom friend in the eyes of others.
Qin Shu was reluctant to think about these things for the most of the time. She would rather look forward and lead an easier and more comfortable life.
But then came the bastard Ling Mohan!
Trying to trap her with a marriage certificate? No way!
Qin Shu was definitely not the kind of woman who, after getting married, would become a well-behaved housewife. She was determined to rack her brains to cause trouble for Ling Mohan, so that he couldn’t stand her and divorce her!
Evening closed in after a long torturous day with Ling Mohan.
When Qin Shu returned to her dorm, she found the door wasn’t locked. She reckoned that Tang Anru had been back from work.
As soon as she pushed open the door, she heard someone yelling in disgust, “Qin Shu, how come you had the face to come back! Aren’t you ashamed? Do you have a clear conscience?”
Qin Shu took a look. Oh, wasn’t that Yang Bin, Tang Anru’s best guy friend?
Yang Bin was their classmate. As a silver-spoon kid in City Lin, he drove a BMW to campus on the first day of university life. His money, plus his fairly handsome looks made him very popular among girls at university.
Yet, Yang Bin wasn’t a playboy like others. On the contrary, he was quite devoted in terms of love.
He fell in love with Tang Anru at first sight and didn’t make any girlfriend during the four years of university life.
It was a pity that while the waterside flower shed petals pining for love, the brook rippled on showing no care at all. His love was destined to be unrequited. Tang Anru only took him as a friend, and thus Yang Bin became her best guy friend.
Yang Bin came to see Tang Anru every two or three days. Obviously, he had regarded himself as Tang Anru’s escort. That was why his attitude towards Qin Shu used to be unfriendly, for fear that she would bully his goddess.
After a long day of wrestling with Ling Mohan, Qin Shu was exhausted. She wasn’t in the mood to argue and just ignored Yang Bin.
Yang Bin saw Qin Shu bending over the desk, not even giving him a look. Meanwhile, Tang Anru sat next to him in low spirits.
He felt that he had lost face in front of Tang Anru. He flared up and shouted at Qin Shu, ” I was talking to you, Qin Shu! Don’t you play dead. Tell me, is it you who has set up Anru?”
“Set up?” Qin Shu noticed the two words and she finally gave a look at Yang Bin.
Yang Bin got excited and acted like a man of justice making an angry accusation: “You’re still pretending. I’ve never seen a shameless woman like you! You have a crush on me, but I don’t, and you are jealous of how much I care about Anru. Therefore, you set her up behind her back….”
“Yang Bin, it wasn’t Qin Shu’s fault. It’s my own problem.” Tang Anru finally raised her head, her eyes red. She looked at Qin Shu as if she didn’t know what to do. “Qin Shu, don’t be angry. Yang Bin didn’t mean it. He was just worried about me.”
“Anru, how can you defend her? You are too kind!” Yang Bin said both lovingly and angrily.
Qin Shu looked completely confused.
She had just been back in the dorm for no more than two minutes, and it seemed that Yang Bin and Tang Anru were staging a two-person comic play. What on earth was the “set up” about?
Most of all, she never liked Yang Bin. Where could this guy find such a big face to deserve her love!
